Don't look any further as Dr. Dolman is the one you are looking for. I had three wisdom teeth that I needed to remove since one of them was erupting sideways. I was recomended by my hygienist to have it removed before cavities begin to form due to the difficulty of brushing the area so I did some research and looked for referrals from friends. I previously removed a wisdom tooth a few years ago but put off removing the other three as I didn't want to be stuck eating soft foods for another three weeks again. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Dolman and that was when I knew Dr. Dolman was extremely knowledgeable and I could trust him with this procedure. Dr. Dolman is not pushy like a number of doctors are. Rather, he explains what would happen if you don't remove certain teeth and what would happen if you do. His explanations were clear and helped me prepare mentally for what I was about to go through. Doing any sort of dental work is usually pretty scary and pulling wisdom teeth is one of the scariest procedures for me due to the fears of dry sockets and things going wrong. I can't say enough about how wonderful Dr. Dolman and his team are! He is one of the most skilled and compassionate doctors I've ever had. I had a great experience my first time here. Second time.... Not so much. The first time my insurance was "in network" the second time they changed to be "out of network". They never told me. I even asked at scheduling AND the day of my consultation. They did not bother to tell me my insurance was out of network until I went to check out of my appointment. What SHOULD have cost me $0 was $320. I was shocked. THEN the receptionist tells me "Oh, we are out of network for your insurance now". I was livid. I asked when I scheduled it on the phone AND when I checked in for the appointment. She was cold, struggled her shoulders at me and said basically nothing. I had $320 and no way out of it. The receptionist was almost rude about it. I went somewhere else which confirmed with me BEFORE I even scheduled the consultation my insurance was valid and "in network" covering the consultation 100%. I wasted more than $3000 at this establishment. I had my consultation around 2018 and I still vividly remember the things that were said to me. He asked if I smoked and I replied no and then proceeded to ask again by asking "marijuana ?" As if I don't know what smoking is. Then when I had my bone graft surgery, whatever instrument he had use to take out my previous failed implant, had twisted my adjacent tooth causing me to get Invisalign to correct it. Once I started my Invisalign treatment, I started to feel pain. I went to my primary dentist and they took X-rays only to find out that he had left screws in my jaw from the surgery unbeknownst to me. It eventually caused an infection which I had to set another appointment with to him to get it removed. He condescendingly questioned me if I know what Invisalign was for or if I know what Invisalign is before the 2nd surgery. If you want your wisdom tooth removed with grace and expertise this is it. Dr. Dolman is very kind and he knows what he is doing. Each stage of my care was excellent. The office didn't accept my insurance but he worked with me to make my visit reasonable, especially given the high quality of care. I was a few minutes behind for my appointment and the office did not mention it nor did I have to wait to be seen. As superficial and improbable having so many five stars reviews may seem, I just got cared for by Dr. Dolman and his team, and also I've nothing but praises for them. I had two impacted wisdom teeth, which were fairly close to the nerves too, and one of them had cavity. Needles to say, I wanted my treatment done by someone I can completely trust, and this office seemed ideal. This review will be a bit big, but I'm breaking it down into pieces (just like my wisdom teeth): The Consultation: I initially went by their office in January, but since I was actively wearing Invisalign back then, Dr. Dolman told me to get back to him once I'm done, since that'd make for a more comfortable experience for me. This is where I'd like to add, that before going to him I went to another oral surgeon (recommended by my general dentist), who told me I should get rid of the teeth asap. Even the price quoted here, was much better than the other place. I found Dr. Dolman's practice to be very honest, which is a rare find. The Procedure: I took Dr. Dolman's advice, and went back for removal of the teeth in June. I opted with Nitrogen Oxide (NO). Medicines were sent to pharmacy of my choice a day earlier, so I had everything handy. My bf and I were given a private room to rest, while my medicines were kicking in. The procedure went smoothly, with Dr. Dolman and his assistant being extremely attentive to my responses the whole time. There was no rush, I was given all the time I needed. It almost felt like I was the only person they were looking after, and all attention was on me. The Recovery: this is perhaps the worst phase of wisdom teeth removal, and unavoidable depending on the case. But Dr. Dolman was always a text away. The second morning I woke up with more pain, and before I even messaged him, he texted me - which basically felt like a forecast, and frankly very reassuring. A little over week later, now, I've no pain, no nerve damage (which I was afraid off), and I'm eating normally. A review that is LONG LONG LONG overdue! Back in October, I was experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort towards the back of my mouth and jaw. At the time I believed the pain had been due to my wisdom tooth growing out. I tried riding out the pain for about a week and a half, but I gave in and immediately started researching for the best dentist in the city that takes care of wisdom teeth extraction. It wasn't long until I found Dolman Oral Surgery's Yelp page. This page had 5 stars across the board, and after reading every single review on here, I contacted them right away. Mind you it was later at night when I did reach them by email, so their office had already closed for the day. The very next morning, I received an email from the receptionist to schedule an appointment with Dr. Dolman. Unfortunately, I couldn't meet with him that day, so I asked if I could meet him on Friday. Dr. Dolman had been booked all day Friday, but because I was in so much pain the receptionist was willing to squeeze me in an appointment towards the end of the day almost to when the office should have been closed. Talk about care and service! The actual meeting with Dr. Dolman went smooth. He was very approachable and engaging. Now I've heard tons of nightmare stories about wisdom teeth extractions, so I expressed my concerns to him. He explained the background of wisdom teeth to me, and the procedure thoroughly! Now when I got to see my x-rays, to my surprised he told me I was only born with two wisdom teeth instead of 4. Seriously the best news that anyone can give me. Because the way my wisdom tooth was growing out, there was a slight gap to which food can enter between the tooth and the gums. The cause of the pain was possibly due to trapped food. He recommended me upgrade to an electric toothbrush, use a waterpik, and to specifically use Listerine (there was another brand he recommended, but I forgot the name of it). Dr. Dolman told me that I didn't necessarily need to get my wisdom teeth extracted. It was a choice of mine to decide whether I wanted them removed or not. After the appointment ended, he gave me a quote for the procedure if I wanted to get my wisdom tooth removed, and told me that future consultations would be complementary! He also provided me his personal cell in case I needed to reach out to him if I was experience any further pain or had questions. I took all his recommendations and applied it to myself for the following week. By the end of that week, the pain has gone down tremendously! Is it strange to say that my wisdom tooth extraction was a wonderful experience? I have literally felt more pain getting my mustache waxed. I never write reviews but I felt I had to share how great of an oral surgeon Dr. Dolman is. I had put off getting my wisdom tooth pulled for 3 years due to fear and anxiety of dentists but it gotten to the point it was hurting too much and I had to get it out. Dr. Dolman reassured me that it would be a simple extraction and that he would be available by phone or text if I had any questions. I honestly didnt even feel the local anesthetic needle. You literally don't have to worry about anything if you see Dr. Dolman. So come here and transform your perception of dental care :-) Also worth noting that the staff there has such sweet and kind girls. I had put off having my wisdom teeth extracted for over six years, admittedly following a frightening consultation with another oral surgeon years ago and anxiety given what others told me to expect in the aftermath. When I finally decided that it was time to take care of this lingering situation, my primary care dentist recommended Dr. Dolman in high regard, noting that he had sent his own mother to him. The consultation with Dr. Dolman significantly eased my nerves as he demonstrated the relative ease of the process and assured me of the same level of care that he would provide a family member. Despite my fears of sedation, I chose to have what Dr. Dolman referred to as "champagne by vein" in order to make the procedure less stressful. Dr. Dolman called in all of my prescriptions ahead of time and provided me with home remedies to manage any pain and swelling. The extraction went seamlessly -- much better than I could have ever imagined as the twilight "champagne by vein treatment" was subtle and relaxing and the procedure seemed to take only about five minutes, though Dr. Dolman noted that it was a bit longer. When the novocaine wore off I was impressed by how manageable the pain and swelling were; modest soreness and nearly no swelling. The aftermath that I originally feared was so manageable that I went out for a noodle soup dinner and a movie the next day. Dr. Dolman kept in touch throughout the week that followed via personal text and was readily accessible on the other end -- as he had assured from the beginning. Not only was I thrilled by the process and the outcome but I am also so glad to have met and gotten to know Dr. Dolman. Dr. Dolman has wonderful bedside manner, he is a people person and is very thorough will explaining procedures. The staff in his office is very pleasant. The building and office is clean and welcoming. I would highly recommend him as an oral surgeon. read more
