My local shoe repair Artesia Shoe Repair sadly closed so this was the closest one. My review is a 2.5. Brought a pair of sandals because one of the fasteners fell off. He said the fastener was hard to find but would try and he needed to make a small leather loop. He gave me an estimate of $35. Yikes! He told me they would call me, but I ended up coming in the following Sat. because I did not get a call. He said oh no one called? I had to send it out to the other store so it will be another week. Not very good communication! I loved these sandals so I paid the $35. There was also a stain on a strap. Think I will look for another shoe place. Not too impressed. read more

Bought a great looking pair of suede oxfords online, on sale. But when buying European shoes online, you can still get a too-small size even when using a conversion chart for US to EU shoe sizes. These were too tight across the top of my foot and at the sides. Was really bummed out because I loved the look/style of the shoes and did not want to send them back. The proprietor here he told me he could add up to half a size. And he did for $27. The shoes were returned in great shape -- and they were not tight anymore. Glad I tried this shop. My sense is if they can responsibly, ably stretch a pair of new shoes, they can most likely do other shoe repairs that are much more straightforward. Will be back for other shoe repair needs. read more

Do your duty and support small businesses. Morality aside, Bill does magic when it comes to shoes and belts. This is the only place in the South Bay to go and fix your shoes- whether they need a new sole, a good cleaning, designer or old favorites or just a good stretch. Bill is a magician. It doesn't matter how bad the shoes look, Bill does his magic and when I pick up the shoes, they look brand new. It's unbelievable. Because of the meticulous care, the normal wait is usually 7-10 days (boot season is usually 2 weeks) but it is worth every day that you are without your shoes. Both my husband & I bring our shoes in. A tip for boot lovers- take them in before boot season and then have them re-treated and polished AFTER boot season to keep them like new. It's not the cheapest place for shoe repair but it's worth every penny and much cheaper than purchasing a new pair. Parking is always an issue in MB, but there is a 15 minute parking spot and Bill will also do curbside delivery if you give him a call. Amazing service! I was looking for these heel protectors that keep stilettos from sinking into the grass for a wedding. I called around and found that this was the only place near by that sold them. When I called, they told me to bring in my shoes so he could make sure of the fit. I brought the shoes in a few days later, and he still remembered that I had called. The heel protectors were too big for my shoe, but he didn't sell the smaller size in the store and actually recommended that I instead order them online rather than buy the ones that didn't fit right. Since the wedding was in two days I just decided to buy them and try to glue them in since I wouldn't be using the shoes again. He offered to glue them in for me...and had them ready in less than 10 minutes. He also told me that he would pry off the protector for me if I brought them back in. Over the past 20 years, my wife and I have brought to him all manner of favorite shoes, and he has never let us down. I have one pair of dress shoes I bought in Paris back in 2000. Brought in a pair of leather Oxford men's shoes to repair the back seam. This required a curved stitch to close and reinforce the seam. Owner assured me this was routine. When i picked up the shoes, the workmanship was terrible, the stitching was crooked and looked bad overall. I asked if he could do better and he became angry and wouldn't discuss it. Very displeased with workmanship and attitude and will not return. read more

I popped in this store to pierce an extra hole in my leather belt, due to recent weight loss. The owner said yes I can do this for $5!!! I left the store puzzled. $5 to punch a hole with a leather gun? I've had this same thing done over the years in Beverly Hills for FREE. In Santa Monica shoe repairs for FREE. And mind you, not 1 belt but multiple belts, and at both locations, when I was not a shoe customer. This is an insult and riduculous to the locals like myself living in MB. Granted some people may pay $5/belt but I won't get ripped off so boldly. I've never had shoes repaired here but I doubt I will. There's a lot of fish in the sea. Watch out for this guy, I'm not helping him pay his rent by overcharging customers. I'll go to Lawndale or Hawthorne down the street where they actually charge for honest to goodness labor, and time spent. Punching a hole is not considered labor. read more

I brought in 3 suede shoes to get cleaned and waterproofed. They came back with the same marks on them. There was even some dirt remaining on the heels which made me doubt they were actually cleaned. The store owner said it was the best he could do, but I wasn't convinced. I think they weren't cleaned or weren't given much attention during the cleaning process. Plus, it was expensive. I bought my stilettos in to get the soles covered. It was a very standard thing and usually takes less than an hour to do. The owner said that he had hundreds of shoes in the back to work on and it would take a month to get to my shoes. And basically told me to go elsewhere! He writes the ticket up and says "22 a pair so your total will be $44." $44 for two pairs polished! This guy is delusional. I'm sorry to say that my experience was pretty bad. For the price I paid, my boot heels were fine but nothing that could not have been done for a lot less a few miles away. And I thought the the material tears would be cleaned up based on his quick description but it was quickly painted over (not a good job). I also told the owner I wanted to pick up on my way to work at 7:30am and he assured me that would be no problem. Well, he picked a day to come in late to work and after 20 minutes of waiting for him I left to make work on time (I had planned to wear the boots that day). I called him and he didn't seem bothered by not showing up on time and he said he was a little late and "it happens" and by the end of the call he seemed annoyed that I made a big deal but he later apologized. So I give one star for that and that he gave me a $10 coupon to make it up to me the next day. Unfortunately, the work does not warrant a return by me so the coupon won't be used. I would price out the work you want to have done and see if it's worth a trip here. read more
