Every time I walk into his shop, I'm greeted with seeing how diligent and tired he is to do it all by himself. Unbeatable prices too. In the many years ago, I've lost count of how many pairs of shoes I've brought to him over the years, and I trust him completely with all of them--especially my favorite name-brand heels and boots. He treats every pair with such care, and I honestly hope he stays in business forever because I'm definitely going to keep him busy! I tend to wear my shoes down "like cray-cray," which always makes me think of my absolute favorite fairy tale from childhood: The 12 Dancing Princesses. You know, that story about the twelve royal sisters who would sneak out every night to dance until their shoes were worn completely through? I feel like a modern-day version of them minus the dancing lol but just daily usages, every time I drop off a bag of shoes at Iggy's! It remains one of my favorite stories to revisit--if you haven't read it lately, I highly recommend picking up a copy. It's such a charming classic!

THIS PERSON IS A CON ARTIST!!!! DO NOT TAKE AN ITEM YOU CARE ABOUT HERE!!!…read more I dropped off 4 items with this person (2 bags, 2 pairs of boots). He started by insulting me asking if the items were fake. Ummm, no. When I showed up to pick up the items, not only were they decentralized all over the place and he had no idea what was mine (easily could've been stolen, door hanging wide open), but he totally **RUINED** a $680 pair of boots and then tried to blame me!!! What went in soft, supple buttercream suede came back hard, crunchy, stripped BARE / RAW, and a very large hole in them!! He tried to claim the whole thing happened "because I spilled chemicals on the boots". I don't even work with chemicals first of all, and second of all you can see in the photo that HE is the one who placed harsh chemicals on then (presumably) and then scrubbed a hole (undeniably) in the boots. He couldn't even bother to call and tell me, just waited until I picked up and then said it casually like it was no problem. Didn't express one iota of remorse. After this, I realized I never want to have anything to do with him again, thinking I might file a small claims suit, then he brought out a bag he was supposed to fix. He did not fix the handle, tried to say he did, I tried it on and showed that it was exactly the same length as before and demanded that he refund me, and then he said he would give me $12 back. After charging me $48 to shorten the handle!! I told him I paid $48 to shorten the handle, and he tried to deny it, until I pulled out the paperwork (which thank God I kept because it was a sloppy mess of only chicken-scratch on the back of a scrap of paper, nothing businesslike). Other issues: 1. Overcharged me in the first place, $316 to touch up / repair 4 items!! 2. I paid it being generous because I figured anybody can charge any price they want (and Manhattan Beach is not cheap), and thinking that at the very least he would polish or condition the leather items and give them back to me well loved. He didn't polish ANYTHING and everything came back dry & brittle. Looks like he's spent MAYBE 5 minutes on the other items. 3. Rude and bigoted/misogynistic. 4. Talked down to me. 5. Tried to tell me he charged me $12 for something I paid $48 for. Showing he has absolutely no pricing model, is ripping people off, and is making things up as he goes to take advantage. 6. Didn't even apologize that he ruined my boots, didn't even bat an eyelash... I literally was almost in tears. They were my favorite boots and had a lot of history behind them. 7. Now it's all starting to add up - - Even further proof, this guy is a criminal con man... He named his place "Salvatore's" because there's an actual Salvatore's in West Hollywood which does good work. I think he's hoping to benefit from their ratings. This is NOT the same company whatsoever just FYI!!!!!!! No affiliation 8. What else is starting to add up... He made me pay IN FULL upfront. I have a feeling everything he touches turns to shit, and he collects up front, otherwise no one would pay because no one is happy with the work. If I had seen what he was going to do when I knew what he was going to charge, I would've walked out the door immediately (and he knows that, hence the price gouging and "pay in full up front". I'M DEFINITELY GOING TO FILE A CHARGEBACK, I'M PROBABLY GOING TO FILE A SMALL CLAIMS SUIT. THIS GUY SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS AND I FEEL TRULY SORRY FOR ANYBODY WHO LEAVES THEIR PROPERTY HERE.

They have their own parking lot with free parking. Be careful not to park in their lot if you're not actually visiting the business (or the spa next door), as they have signs all over the place that clearly state that they tow vehicles. Dry cleaning only takes a few days, and hemming took less than a week. I didn't have any firm deadlines, so time wasn't of the essence, but let them know if you do and they can work with you. Keep in mind that hemming and tailoring will require you to change into the clothing on-site so that the tailor can pin the adjustments. There is a restroom in the very back for privacy - a bit tucked away and generally not for public use, but it does the trick. If you're trying to adjust pants or a dress, be sure to bring the shoes that you'll be wearing so that you have a solid idea of how the item will look once adjusted. Prices are a bit on the higher end compared to other small tailor and dry cleaning businesses that I've been to around LA. Tap to pay is your best bet for speed and convenience. The gentleman who owns and operates the shop is personable, efficient and polite. He has a huge fish tank and quite a lot of fun decor.

I have not addressed this issue with the owner, but at this point, I'm not sure there is anything they can or will do. I noticed this shop took over the old One Hour Photo that had been here for decades, but closed. It's in the CVS shopping center, right next to Noah's Bagels. I took my shoes in, the proprietor and shoe repairman came out from the back. He gave me a quote of $30 to re-glue both heels. I took them in on a Saturday. He asked me if Friday was okay? I said yes and paid in advance. He gave me a copy of my receipt and stapled it to the ticket. Not too talkative, but he's a busy guy. He has quite the workshop back there, behind the counter. From the front, you can see his work bench and machinery. When I came back, there was a line. I also noticed there was a significant volume of shoes that were repaired and ready for pickup. I gave him my ticket, which he used to pull the plastic bin my shoes were in. Yay, new glue. I'm happy. I noticed he repairs purses, so that may be next on my list. He also sells merchandise. For those of you who are from this area, and/or may remember, this business is located in the same location that used to be the one hour photo forever. The one hour photo is long gone, but this business has taken over the space. Once inside, you'll find a whole lot of shoelaces. I find this really helpful, if you really want to get some colorful shoelaces, or a very specific type of shoelace, this business probably has it hanging on the wall. Great stuff! Mainly, most people come in here to get their shoes repaired. FYI, this business also does luggage and purse repair, extra key creation, and a few other things, as well. We went to this business to have a pair of shoes repaired. Basically, the processes is, the owner takes a look at what needs to be done, tells you a price, you pay it upfront, and then you come to pick up your shoes when they are done. For us, it was one week later. This all seems very fair and very reasonable. So, if you need some shoes repaired, or some luggage repaired, or even want a great set of shoelaces, this is your business to go to.
