Ultimate Bloody Mary
Amy R.

Show this place some love and try it. We had wonderful service, food and ambiance. I had checked out the menu prior to dining and knew I had to try the Ultimate Bloody Mary- it didn't disappoint. Absolutely best Bloody Mary I have had in a while and not because of the goodies in it. The mix was great!! The goodies were a meal in itself. Slider, meat sticks, cheese, ham, bacon, chicken wing, cheese, mini donut- it was great!! Other food ordered looked great- French Toast Manitou breakfast Breakfast Melt Turkey Club Service was excellent! Very clean and nice bathrooms- would definitely try again. Nice menu. Nice location!

What a lovely restaurant in the heart of downtown White Bear Lake (go bears). I was greeted by a super friendly hostess who walked me to a lovely table on the patio under some shade...the perfect spot! I saw so many exciting items on the menu that I will definitely be back! Great eclectic sandwich options. I chose the New Yorker which is similar to a Reuben but I loved that it's named the NY'er since I am a native NY'er (just don't tell the MN natives...I try to blend in). I got it on a gfree bun...oh yay..love that a gfree bun is an option. I also ordered a side Caesar salad (no croutons). It's a buy up option instead of fries or coleslaw. Everything was delish! My waitress Veronica was awesome and was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back to try some of the other sandwich options and if I would have known about the lunch specials...I might have had a 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad for $12!

We have eaten here several times in the past year and our experiences have been all great! Now that they have new management, the service and food is amazing! This might be one of our new favorite brunch spots. We got the breakfast burrito and biscuits and gravy. Both were very good. I'm always very excited when a place can actually make good biscuits and gravy since so many places make it very bland.

Went here for the first time after a fall trip to a nearby apple orchard and it was a pretty solid experience. We had a late lunch at 2 so it was fairly empty and staff were friendly. They ran out of the french dip so we all got burgers. Everyone enjoyed their burgers, especially the smash burgers, and the fries were nice and crispy. My swiss mushroom got a little soggy by the end but still tasted great. I also got french onion soup as my side and that was great- good cheese ratio. We also ordered some cherry cokes, and I don't know what they add to it (maybe maraschino cherries juice?) but I really enjoyed it and would order it again, even if it's not like the trademarked cherry coca cola. Overall, it was a cute spot with a nice patio, lots of windows, a bar, and tvs with NFL network playing (makes sense since it was a Sunday). It's not good enough for me to go out of my way to come here since I don't live nearby, but if I happen to be in the area, I would definitely stop in.

We came to Manitou on a random Tuesday night around 8 pm and it was very empty and quiet. Getting seated took a second because they were starting to close down and didn't notice us at the host stand for a while. But eventually we got seated and the server was very attentive after that! I ordered the Tavern Burger and it was absolutely delicious! One of the best burgers I've had in awhile. The bread was unique and the toppings were so tasty! I would definitely recommend and hopefully I will be back!

The aftermath of great dining. Manitou Bar & Grill serves up great food and our waitress (Taylor) made the experience better! Started with very meaty but not over spiced Bang Bang Shrimp. Yummy! Hubby went for the meatloaf entree and it's unbelievable that there is a box coming home. Generous portion and excellent flavors. I went with the Prime Rib Dip and am in heaven . Easily one of the best ever. Weather cooperated too! Sitting on the protected patio with light breeze and moderate (low 70s) temps in July cannot be understated. [spoiler alert] Only sad note is Taylor may be leaving end of month.

All you can eat fish fry

First time here and it was a pretty good experience. I appreciate how the restaurant offers reservations... just makes it so much easier for everyone. Unfortunately, I did not see any staff at the hostess stand when I arrived however, my party was already seated. I've heard nothing but fantastic things about the all you can eat fish fry here, so that's what actually brought me here. Fantastic! Fish was hot, crispy, and not greasy; also served with tartar sauce. You also get a generous amount of fries which were great... I love a good zesty fry. Coleslaw was tasty as well. I had to get the mini donuts for dessert and those were delicious. Tasty, hot, and perfectly sugared. There were a few things I'd like to try on the menu... Buffalo chicken wontons, cheese curds, and the burger. I'll have to come back next time I'm in the area. I'd say our waitress wasn't very attentive and not too friendly.... Just kinda felt like she didn't want to be there. However, the food made up for it. Restaurant is large, well lit, and clean.

I have never experienced anything like that. I guess you have to work with minimal space. Maybe have your main event there but not your entire wedding. I went through their wedding website and it looks like for entertainment as well as other things you have to choose from a specific group of vendors. I don't know why but their DJ can't get enough of himself. The man will not stop talking. Every intro for daddy and daughter dance, etc. had a 5-10 minute discussion from him. People were complaining that he needed to just get straight to the point. When I asked the bar tender about it, he said, Yeah I work a lot of events with this guy and he doesn't shut up. It wasn't just me. lol And the music was lame. I'm sure it was the wedding party's choice. It was more like singalong music and not dancing music. Why even have a dance floor? I'd take the DJ off the vendor list quick.

We tried a few different flights of wine and flat breads and enjoyed the beautiful view of the vineyard. The place is truly breathtaking, and at the time, they had live music playing outside. Jenna made some very good recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed. ::Caution:: I still gave this place 5 stars because this has nothing to do with the service or the quality of the food or location, but we were picturing a nice, calm brunch, sipping on wine, not a Chuck E Cheese experience. Apparently, we were upgraded to the deluxe Chuck E Cheese package and were seated around lots of parents who decided to bring their young kids to a vineyard. The kids were running wild around tables and crying and screaming. Not one parent corrected their kids' behavior and just let them run around like free-range chickens. There were also people complaining that there were no non alcoholic drinks that they wanted at a vineyard. When I went inside there seemed to be no kids indoors. While another group could not control their kids and kept knocking things off the table, including glasses of wine. No one seemed to mind outdoors because most of the people had young kids, so be warned that this may be a possibility, so research your days before you go. Overall, if you remove the kids running wild and crying, the service was fantastic, the wine was good, lots of parking, the ambiance was incredible, and the food was good.

DBW gave me the wedding reception of my dreams! Firstly, thank you to Julie and Scott for being so…read moreaccommodating during COVID times. We had to reschedule our wedding from July 2020 to May 2021 because of the pandemic and also my dad getting diagnosed and eventually passing from Stage 4 lung cancer. Obviously I was not in a mood to celebrate and Julie allowed me to postpone our reception (we always planned on getting married at a church) to May vs the fall of 2020 and I'm so grateful that I was allowed that time to get some closure because I had to drastically adjust our reception (it still breaks my heart that I never got my father/daughter dance) and it just allowed me to be in a better place mentally to actual be able to enjoy my day. If you want a beautiful venue and to do very little work to make it even more beautiful, pick DBW. Pay for the upgraded package for their decor rental and you''ll spend an hour picking out pinterest worthy items that have been proven to look good with their set up, and they even do all the work on the big day to stage the items for you. I literally just had to show up and give Julie the seating chart. That was the extent of my decorating. That's it. And it was GORGEOUS. We got so many compliments on the venue! Also, to double up on how little effort I had to really put in planning this reception, DBW's welcome package has a list of all their "preferred" vendors (which is mostly just vendors that have been there before and had a positive experience) and they were all high quality professionals. I went with everyone off their list except for flowers/hair/makeup and have no complaints! We definitely lucked out and had a beautiful day weather wise, which is great because DBW is a big property with a lot of space for guests to mingle outside. Part of the decor package is yard games, so we had cornhole, hammerschlagen, yard golf, various tables/chairs to sit and gather at, a smores bar/fire pit and if you ask nicely and Scott is in town, they'll even do a tractor ride (that you can take booze on!). They also have various horses and dogs (in pens) that are very friendly that guests can interact with. And they are very well behaved. My reception was very casual and whenever the guests that were interested in the dogs came up for pets, there was no jumping or anything. Thankfully we didn't have a very hot day, but we still had the AC on because I was busy busting a move on the dance floor. There's two AC units, but there's one that's directly on the dance floor and you better believe I incorporated dancing in front of it as a move because it was industrial strength and worked so well. The barn doors had to be closed to both keep the noise from the DJ as well as the cool air in but honestly, it was not a factor at all. Honestly, if you work with contracts regularly, DBW isn't really any different. Make sure you read over it and know about the early end time (1030pm roughly, but they want everyone out by 1100pm), the special event insurance, the special insurance if you don't go with their suggested DJ (we went with their recommendation, ZeroGravity/Jeff and he was great, also already has the insurance), the closing of the barn doors while music is on, what alcohol is included in the buyback plan (also just a heads up if you do open bar and you hit your limit that you prepaid for, you can keep a card open and they'll check in with you every $500 to see if you still want to keep it open. Wasn't an issue for us but definitely is considerate since booze adds up fast and some people don't realize once they've been drinking), and things like that. The contract makes it seem like they are sticklers but honestly Julie and Scott were a blast. They even worked super hard to make sure that I had enough space for a Big Buck Hunter game for my reception as well as any other things I had questions or suggestions on. Seriously, they were so easy to work with, cannot recommend DBW enough! Everyone get married here!

What's the point of having a reception with no music??? Owner watched us like hawks and gave our DJ a very hard time. Owner was so rude and yelled at many of the ppl in the wedding including my husband. I will NEVER suggest this place!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. That's my jam - this had cream cheese and habanero, bacon jam, but we couldn't really taste the habanero. But it was good nonetheless. Campfire burger - two of our Party ordered this and they thought the combination of the peanut butter with a spicy lingonberry jam was really good. The chips that come with the sandwiches are amazing. Don't even think of switching to something else. I also had the bloody Mary, which was a good mix, but not very spicy. I was wondering why they gave me Tabasco on the table. The burgers are huge, maybe a third or a half pound of beef and well worth the price.
