They all seem like they love working there. Everything on the menu I've ever tried is at least good - I've never had a bad meal there. And let me tell you about the Kareoke vibes and Sunday and Wednesday nights: You'd be hard pressed to find a better DJ than DJ Blasta when it comes to fun and variety. I'm a regular there for a reason They have a patio and additional parking down the street. My ONLY COMPLAINT is that there's not a lot of seats available somedays (place fills up pretty fast). But even thats not too bad of a thing - the more cherry pitters, the better. The place has a mature older vibe, but the crowds I see there are diverse - from young adults to the elderly. Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Samoan, I think I even saw an actual alien in there once. He had on a trench coat, sunglasses and was doing the moonwalk to "Karma Chameleon"..... I recently checked out Cherry Pit on the east side of St. Paul after hearing rave reviews about their wings. I stopped by on a Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised to find a fun atmosphere with Vikings staff hosting raffles and giveaways--it definitely added to the vibe. I came primarily for the food, though, and ordered the walleye sandwich, six-piece wings, and a Caesar salad. The walleye sandwich was flavorful and easily my favorite part of the meal. The Caesar salad was decent, but the wings didn't live up to the hype for me. They came out extremely burnt, to the point where I had to ask the bartender to have them redone. She mentioned I should request 'less done' wings next time, which I found odd since I didn't think they'd come fried hard by default. The customer service was decent, though I didn't appreciate being pressured to close out my bill before finishing my meal--it felt rushed, especially if I'd wanted to address any issues with the food. On the pricier side for what I got, but the overall atmosphere was decent, with a laid-back, hole-in-the-wall bar vibe. Parking-wise, they do have a small free lot, though it can fill up quickly depending on how busy they are. Food is good. There's sandwiches, burgers, and salads to choose from. We love the club sandwich and burgers. Go for the waffle fry upgrade with sour cream. Service can be a bit slow around here. It's usually pretty busy here too especially on game days. They do have great drink specials on game day. read more

Above average pub food, which considering the sketchy reputation the place has is pretty amazing. I'm not sure why the place gets such a bad reputation. It's clean and full of boomers who all seem to know each other. Maybe the place transforms into something else after dark. The staff is friendly and the service is good. My mister was critical of the change that was made to the wings. Apparently they started breading them and to my husband this was a problem. I ordered takeout and everything was packaged well and stayed hot. Would definitely order from here again! The BLT was really tasty! I added 4 strips of bacon and definitely didn't need to. The sandwich already had a good amount of bacon but I could've gone with the extra 2 strips instead. It was served on a thick bread which helped it all stay together. There wasn't much for tomatoes but the lettuce and tomato seemed fresh. The cheddar broccoli bites are my FAVORITE and I can never find them anywhere!! They were delicious as always. Wow! Went there for Vingo on Tuesday and good eats and got exactly that! We ordered the wonton chicken tocos and the loaded nachos for our appetizer; came out fresh and timely. My sister ran across an Instagram post for The Cherry Pit and wanted to check it out. We decided to go during lunch on a Friday. The did offer a few lunch special options for $6.50, which is a great price. I did not order off the lunch menu and ended up trying a Buffalo wrap with crispy chicken and fries and my sister ordered a plan ole hamburger with nothing on it. lol. My buffalo wrap was good, sauced well and filling. My sister said her burger was really good & seasoned good. I'd usually start my weekend with a nice drink (which they seemed to have decently price/cheap drinks) but I decided against it-- this one time. The bartender was also our waitress, she was very nice and checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed while we were there. She was great! They have a parking lot which is nice, because parking in this area can be a pain. I would go back to try more things on the menu. read more

The food was AMAZING! My burger was SUPER fresh and came with wings on it!!! My husband's walleye burger was delish. Our waitress Diana was super personable, gave out great recommendations and answered all of our questions. She deserves some free food! The meat comes fresh from Big Steer Meats across the street from them. They also have meat raffles on Fridays for the meat from there. Sunday fun day with lil yang was at the Cherry Pit today. Lil yang for the Sweet Barbecue Burger with toys. I got the Bacon Double Cheese Burger with fries. The sweet barbecue burger comes with a cherry pit secret sauce. Which seemed to be a sriracha mayo, not bad. I like sriracha mayo so that was nice. Lil yang said her burger was good but nothing fancy or overly special about it. I liked the Bacon cheese burger but I would have to agree it wasn't anything special. I normally really like fries but the fries were too salty and that is crazy if I say t because I usually add salt to my food. But definitely didn't here. It was a nice place, lots of Tvs and they play music. They have a nice outside patio. I'd probably come here again. Overall seems like a nice hang out spot. Just wish I had more friends to make myself a regular. Haha read more

My spouse & I were visiting St. Paul for work & decided to check this place out. We got chicken wings, the double bacon cheese burger, the Mac and cheese burger, and some cheese curds. The blue cheese was 60% water 20% mush. The cheese curds & ranch were sour. The food was unseasoned. The bacon burger toppings were so soggy they disinergated as my spouse picked up his burger. The mac and cheese burger was flavorless & the cheese was so liqufied it leaked through the tinfoil. The wings were bone dry as well. read more

It you stay away from Fridays apparently you're safer according to other yelp reviews. The location is less than ideal for parking but the food is pretty darn good. Had the chicken wonton tacos. They are their best seller and there's a reason why. It's a must order. The curd burger and aussie burger are equally amazing. The meat tasted fresh and is apparently bought from the local meat marker. The fries were unfortunately completely soaked through with grease and inedible. The menu says crispy, they definitely are far from that. The place was pretty packed for a weeknight but it's meat raffle Tuesday apparently. The waitress was friendly and comped $4 for the app since it came out significantly later than our meals. Our bill was also incorrect with other patrons drinks on it totalling $17 extra. Beers were forgotten about on 2/4 orders. Not a good average. Worth a try for a mean burger and apps. read more

The Cherry Pit is a neighborhood bar in East St. Paul. There is an outdoor patio and darts inside for gaming. We celebrated our high school reunion in the private party room recently. The party room was the right size with tables, a separate bar, and a small dance floor. There was a jute box which was helpful as we needed music for entertainment. The bar staff was very friendly, attentive, and hospitable. During our event we discovered that the upstairs level had a DJ. We spent time going back and forth between our private room and upstairs. People enjoying themselves talking, laughing and drinking. The restaurant is right on a busy intersection but the bar is gated off. There is a lot of noisy traffic in the evening. The Cherry Pit is a good place to go if you are looking for a good burger and a cold beer. The menu is very extensive and the food is very good for being a small neighborhood bar. The patio is very large and really nice too. I know the Eastside has a bad reputation at times, but this place is pretty good and not hard to find. After reading about the crash into the building, I looked up this place. I saw the burger special. I decided I would give this place a try. I go in and sit down. It seemed kinda loud at first, but I got used to it quickly. I was not sure if I was noticed as a new customer for a few minutes. But the server/bartender brought an order out to a customer and quickly came to me. Very nice looking, nice smile. I asked about the burger special and was told it is a quarter pounder, couple pickles on the side. Extras are 50 cents each. I ordered my burger plain and a non alcoholic beverage. I also added an order of fries. She put in my order and brought out my beverage. Quick service. I am not sure if this was a busy time, but there were plenty of customers. After about 10 minutes, the cook comes out with a burger in a basket. I asked about the fries and the bartender/server immediately blurted out 'Sorry, forgot to tell him. Do you still want them?' Sure. The cook goes back to cook up my fries. Only about 2 minute wait. I had already dressed up my burger with mustard and sampled it. Decent burger. Nothing special really. But it was very decent considering the $2.00 price tag. You will not find a better burger in this town at this price point. The fries were spot on. Seemed to be fresh cut, skin on fries. Just the right crispiness on the outside and tender on the inside. They have outside seating with about 6 high top tables with umbrella. Perfect day for dining outside. Being my first visit, was not sure how everything worked. I would not expect to be noticed, since it seemed to be 1 cook and 1 bartender being the server also. Maybe next visit. I meant to ask if they get their burgers from across the street at Big Steer Meats but forgot. After I paid my tab(she didn't charge for the fries because of the minor error in forgetting). I went across the street to check out Big Steer. Seemed to be a nice place for quality meats. They have a few combo packs of burgers, steaks, chops and chicken that seemed to be reasonably priced. If I ever get enough room in my freezer, I will have to get one of the smaller packages. My visit here was very worth while. Service was quick, burger cooked as expected and cooked quickly. In other places with the volume of customers here today and 2 people working the bar and cooking, it could easily be a 45 minute wait or more. Kudos to Cherry Pit for doing this right. read more

I like this place. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but they've done a good job adding parking and lighting. I love the diverse crowd. Very friendly bunch of people, and welcoming to us new-comers, even though it feels very much like a neighborhood gathering. The won-ton tacos were excellent, as were the burgers. My last experience at the Cherry Pit: I get up to go to the washroom. Bouncer stands in my way at the end of the hall to the washroom. He says, "you don't want to go back there." I say, "well, I just need to use the restroom." I see a man fly out of the restroom and land on his back. I say, "you're right, I don't want to go back there." I grab my friend and leave the establishment. In short, the place is not classy, but it does have it's moments. Drinks are cheap and karaoke is fun. If you aren't a regular, don't expected to be treated like one, but you can make new friends if you aren't shy. Late night bar food is pretty decent. I absolutely can't stand this place. The food blows, the drinks are sub-par, the service is "meh" at best and the patrons? Complete drunken jackasses. I'm not sure what it takes to get kicked out at this place but it must take quite a bit. Arguments and physical altercations seem to be commonplace. I don't know. Maybe this just isn't my bag of chips. Maybe I'm too old (and far too uninterested) to deal with slovenly, dumpy, drunken assholes raising up their shirts and calling one another out. I went here for a pre-game Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. We were the first and only couple in the bar, but found the bartender excellent. The bloody mary's were great, garnished with an olive, pickle, and celery spear; also well crafted. We had great conversation with the bartender and some of the other patrons, as they made their way in. I am not sure about the other negative reviews listed, perhaps that sort of thing happens late at night on the weekends? Anyways, kudos to the bartender (Chris) and the establishment. It is more of a dive like bar, but fits right in as an establishment in East Saint Paul. The food... We had the buffalo wings which were pretty good at $6.50 per 12. We also tried the cheese curds, which I would recommend passing on. They resembled the"Culver's style" and not freshly battered. Feel free to try one of their burgers. We had a regular one with cheese and pickles. I thought it was one of the better burgers I have had at a bar, perfectly grilled patty and a nice toasty bun. All in all, fantastic neighborhood bar!
