While exploring Manitou Springs, I wandered into Manitou Outpost & Gallery and was so glad I did. It's a charming little shop that's perfect for browsing if you're looking for a unique souvenir or gift. They have a nice variety of items, including jewelry, clothing, keychains, ice cream, roasted nuts, and plenty of other fun trinkets. I ended up leaving with a couple of adorable wooden keychains and a bag of roasted pecans; both were great purchases! If you're spending the day walking around downtown Manitou Springs, this is definitely a shop worth stopping into. The Manitou Outpost has hundreds of gift options. They have T-shirts of all sizes, collectible souvenirs, hats, pocketknives, and even postcards. There is an accessible restroom in the very back of the store, but be sure to ask the staff for permission. It's only etiquette to do so. I purchased a very nice summer poncho with long sleeves that is made out of the softest material!! The colors are black with a few stripes in the sleeves. It was one size fits most. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and aren't dismissive, respectively. They're here to answer all your questions. The origins of the Outpost date back to the 1800s where a stock stable was operated. Unfortunately, the building burned down but the Navajo Geyser Pavilion Cafeteria soon rose from the ashes in 1913. Despite the restaurant being successful, the Hiawatha Tours and Navajo Garage would soon take over the building. The Barker Manufacturing Company would be the next business to move in. The company was known for its work with leather as well as selling western style clothing. I love this store for getting gifts and jewelry that has a Colorado touch. It's definitely touristy, but that's usually what people are looking for in Manitou, anyway! I love some of the jewelry brands that they stock (yay, Nature Cast!), and I shop for myself personally and presents. The have unique art that is fun for your home or to give to people who do not live in Colorado. I recommend stopping by for trinkets and gifts, and you can also grab some ice cream or popcorn for a snack! read more

This place is like a mish mosh of emotions for me. Some touristy items, some cute items, priced for the neighborhood so a little high at times. They have everything from jewelry, clothing, pottery, and other gift like items. They also have fudge for sale at $15 a pound. Is that a good price? It seems kind of high to me but I don't have anything to compare it to. They have some really great ice cream at great prices. My mom and I both got a waffle cone with one scoop, honestly more like two scoops. $1.99 for each which is a steal in our opinion especially with the waffle cone. Mom had the cherry chocolate chip and I had the cookie dough (cult favorite). Both very tasty flavors and still hit the spot on a 30 degree day. read more

Went here on 1/8/11. This is your basic tourist shop. Tons of art and knick-knacks here. The difference is they are pet friendly and there is an actual Navajo Mineral Geyser that you can taste. There are little cone cups and you pump the water yourself. BEWARE it tastes like a cup full of carbonated rust. BLEH. You've been warned. read more

It's on ok place. It has a ton of tourist junk. They are a sister store to the Garden of the Gods Trading Post (except smaller with less selection), so if you have been there, you have seen everything you need to see already. However, one does always need the odd magnet or keychain for the housesitter so it is a good place to pick those things up. read more

I will try to make this short. I bought a turquoise bracelet there last Thursday. I liked it so much and was fine about spending 105.00. What I thought was a Sleeping Beauty stone while doing some research turned out not to be(QVC)as far as QVC felt. I called the store today and explained it to the manager and asked for my bracelet to be discounted. She said the owner would not do anything about it(this was before calling that person). So in other words too bad for you. We don't care if we sell you something that turns out to be not what we said it was. All I wanted was a small discount. I didn't expect them to give me my money back. I would have been happy with 10 or 15% just for the experience and the principle. The funny part is that the stone could actually be a sleeping beauty as from the text they sent me shortly after speaking to me. I told them before the text I was going to write a post about my experience and the manager said fine. So I think they really don't care about their customers and who would ever want to shop there again? Not me. read more
