Mannies Seafood is a good family restaurant. I love their food but their staff isn't that great. I've been here a couple of times and the times I've been here nobody is at the front to sit us so we have to stand and wait and when we sit ourselves the employees are standing behind the register just starring... very uncomfortable. My eyes just about bugged out of my head when my red snapper dinner was placed in front of me. It was an entire fish! ...and it was BIG!!! I almost couldn't believe it. The presentation was so unexpected that I'd wished I'd had my camera with me. Along with the fish came an interesting shrimp rice dish, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, a dinner roll, and some lime wedges. The Mexican Coca-cola was a nice choice to wash it all down with. One plate of a nice piece of salmon, the side is shrimp fried rice and some of the freshest broccoli. The 2nd plate? Two pieces of nicely fried catfish and 6 shrimp. Listen this is a good place as long as you keep it in perspective. It's a local Resturant and the food is good, plentiful, and reasonable. Now if you want to pay more and be in a fancy cloth napkin, quiet, well dressed wait staff, then this probably isn't the place for you. If you don't mind the reality of family, kids, background noise and you want a good seafood meal then this is your place. I m just saying. Catfish was very good, shrimp were good but a bit thin. We were looking for a place for dinner and found this place. My wife had fried shrimp and oysters while I had the fried whole flounder. Everything was goods, my only complaint with the food was the oysters were over cooked. I was asked if I wanted my flounder to be floured before frying and I said lightly. Well they used batter and it was heavier than I liked. Next time I'll forgo the flour. We both had shrimp fried rice and it was really good. We visited on a Friday night and the place was packed but we only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. This is a Mexican owned place and most there were Hispanic, no issues with that but it was a little noisy. We will eat here again when in the area. read more

Glad I found this place on Yelp! Not fancy at all, but great atmosphere. Everyone was happy and friendly and the service was top notch. The food was even better. I had the fire fish w/ shrimp fried rice. Everything was fresh and the fish was fluffy and tasted fantastic and wasn't overly spiced even though it was called "fire fish" My wife had the grilled fish and shrimp platter and loved it also. We are visiting Houston and after leaving the Hobby airport, this was the closest seafood restaurant we could find. We ordered 6 raw oysters as an appetizer. I think they were $4.50. They were excellent! For our meals we ordered the "Seafood Platters". They were "ok". The meat was tasty but that much deep fried batter/grease weighed heavy on my stomach. The only disappointment was the squid rings which were too rubbery. The fried rice was great. If I go back, I am sticking with grilled meat - not fried. I am not sure, but we may have been the only people there that spoke English. read more

Great food with mediocre service. My mom and I arrived a few minutes after noon to what seemed to be a "not so busy" restaurant. We were seated immediately and within minutes we knew what we wanted for lunch. A friendly and exhausted waitress comes to greet us and take our drink order. We gave her our order at the same time our drinks were asked for. I explained myself with much detail how I wanted to be served. She agreed with me and left. nearly ten minutes since she had left the table and no drinks. The restaurant had no more than three waitress working the floor with no help. Since the beginning I knew it was not her fault, she had a lot on her hand. But after scanning the room I come to find there was a group of staff on the other side of the counter just chit chatting and laughing. Instead of coming around ad helping the servers, they just stood there doing what seemed to me "killing time." These people have no idea what team work means. Shortly after the arrival of our drinks, I discovered my mom's shrimp cocktail was sitting on the counter. Over five minutes passed and no one was able to pick it up and bring it to the table. I wish I could go on and on about my experience here, but thinking about me spending my time and money here, boils my blood from the inside. I hate that the food is good and with reasonable prices, but having staff such as will bring the restaurant down. read more

The food here is very tasty unless you order a salad and you were expecting more than chopped lettuce. But the wait for the food was very long, at least for us and I am almost certain they forgot about us. which I understand happens from time to time but even after we very politely reminded them it still took them a good 30 minutes to bring us our Main course not to mention the extra 30 minutes before hand it took for us to get our appetizers. the waitress was not rude but she was not very attentive. All in all a good meal but could have done with better service. read more

Excellent food! I had three helpings of ceviche, it was so good. They serve a variety of interesting cocktails and so much seafood I wanted to try. Super busy place though, it is a little tough to get served, a long wait even to get the check. The poor staff seem to be moving constantly at light's speed so even though I had to wait and wait I gave a generous tip because they worked so hard.
