Price, excellent. Service, excellent. Michelada, not bad. Gumbo, not bad. Most of the friend specials, not bad. The fried rice side, pretty darn good. The only reason I gave a 3 instead of a 4 is because, don't judge, I had some of this stuff the day before from somewhere else and it was better. I was visiting my girlfriend on the OTHER side of town, and I was not in my comfort zone for food. We decided to rely on Yelp and we found Mannie's. I wasn't disappointed but this wasn't the gem I was hoping for. I have had better gumbo, fried seafood, and micheladas at a certain location that is a large boat on the northwest side of town. My girlfriend did really enjoy the gumbo more because she said she tasted more of the veggies but I didn't like it as much. The fried seafood wasn't bad at all. I wasn't a fan of the fried oysters but the fried scallops were awesome. My girlfriend tried some of the stuffed crab and said it was more bread then she likes in there. The fried rice as a side was really good and unexpected. The side salad is simply lettuce with some dressing, definitely not worth trying again. The micheladas were a bit salty but not too bad. The price was great. Three meals and three micheladas for $40. Julia was our server and she did everything with a smile, taking our order, bringing our food and drinks, the bill, and even as she made a mistake and brought us the wrong to go box. Minutes from my house and the food is great. I recommend getting the shrimp cocktail and tostada de ceviche as appetizers! They're so good. I also got butter garlic shrimp with the fried rice with fries but I was too full to finish but I can honestly say they make good leftovers. Will be coming back. read more

I walked in and was a little worried because the place is nothing fancy but it is hard to find something good in this area & I didn't want the dry salmon I had at the hotel last time I stayed here. A different type of seafood restaurant than i normally would consider. Fresh fish, of which you can even pick you own fish. Great happy hour specials for both food and alcohol. Family combinations that are a great value with tons of food. We had oysters on the half shell (only $4.95) for the dozen, fried oysters, fried scallops, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, with fries. Margaritta's for only $1.95 and great tasting at that. Not fancy by any means but the servers where friendly and able to help make suggestions as there is so much to pick from. They are more than willing to help you find the best value and something that will satisfy your buds. Should at least stop and give it a try. read more

This place is an awesome find 5 minutes from Houston hobby and my go to spot when I land not fancy very reasonably priced awesome seafood. My go to is the shrimp cocktail and fish on fire I can't seem to order anything else. Don't let the place scare you kind of a whole in the wall but always packs with locals never have to wait for a seat though. Came here after work on a Friday evening and the place was pretty busy. Seating and service was pretty quick though. Tried the calamari and fried oyster here. It was good, but not something I would specifically come here for. They also have frog legs here, which my husband tried. They are sold by the pound, he had them fried in garlic butter sauce and he thought they were pretty good! read more

I had the fried calamari appetizer and then the S1 fried fish and shrimp with fried rice plate. To drink I had an agua de Jamaica(hibiscus tea). The calamari were very crispy and served with tartar and cocktail sauce in little small paper cups. The calamari is a enough for 2-4 people as an appetizer. The S1:fried fish & shrimp with fried rice and a roll were very delicious and crispy. My plate was hot and freshly made. I really enjoyed my food and drink. Everything on the menu was temping and at a very affordable price. I will be going again. I noticed that they have a "happy hour" menu and the prices are very inexpensive. I'd love to return and try that out. This place is a must. I went on a Friday night and the noise level is a little loud. You can expect to hear & see live music that charge by the song. I came here after a high school graduation ceremony and there was about 12 of us, they were great at accommodating us quickly. The food was good, I had a burger because I'm not a seafood person but I didn't pick the place my food was good and hot. Everyone else's food looked good and they raves about how good it was. The only thing keeping this place from a better review is the quilting of service. The waitresses are very nice but once they bring you your food it's like you become invisible we literally had to flag someone down and raise our voices to get her attention for refills and extra sauces. If they worked on paying attention to there tables a little better this place would have it all. read more

My family has been coming to mannies for a while already and I've never tried it because I'm not a huge fan of seafood but, mannies fried shrimp and fish is sooo delicious. I don't eat fried or boiled shrimp but from mannies i will! My family and i always get the family pack and it's enough for us 4, and the prices aren't too high. I went there with my husband and they sat us down and no one never came to our table even though there were three servers just standing around chating and laughing. Five minutes after we were seated a large group of hispanics came in, they were seated and had gotten their drink, and no one came to our table. After waiting for fifteen minutes with no service we walked out. I will NEVER go back their again. The food here is good. Unfortunately the service is lacking. I am a restaurant manager myself so I understand many things about what can slow a server down. There is no reason for her to stand in the back and talk while my drink is empty, walk by my table numerous times ignoring me and basically scowl at me when she is at my table. She also walked by the gentleman sitting next to me and he rolled his eyes at her. Sadly my original server and the one who took over her shift were both unpleasant. I came back a few days later and was told that I would need to pay extra for cocktail sauce which came on my plate the first time. I won't be supporting this establishment anymore. I work too hard. We all remember those 'you buy, we fry' days, right? Well, the past few times when I've visited home, my mother always made sure I get my 'fix' of fried fish/shrimp/rice here at Mannie's. I think it is part of a chain (Connie's). Fresh, seasoned and great service. Clean - no "slime in the ice machine", lol! This place has great seafood at a GREAT price. My boyfriend and I usually get two plates that has a combination of fried fish, fried shrimp, fried oysters, stuffed crab and fried rice. Their fried rice is sooooo good. It's asian style fried rice with small shrimps in it. I can't get enough of it. The fried oysters are delish! Just squirt some lime/lemon on it and pour some Valentina hot sauce on it, and you're set. The service is good, the servers are nice and the price can't be beat. read more

I've eaten here dozens of times. The seafood is fresh and you can taste it. My favorite is the Fish on Fire, two grilled fish filets with a bowl of sauce containing shrimp, peppers, tomatoes, onions, and garlic. It is fantastic. The Special #1 is six butterflied shrimp and two fish filets, all fried, and comes with shrimp fried rice. It is a bargain at $6.95. Possibly the best seafood I've ever had...and I'm quite hard on restaurants. The shrimp by the pound was excellent (the onions, scallions and garlic could have been a meal alone!) and the lobster was amazing! I've never had better.
