Nice atmosphere. You will feel like you are in some restaurant in central america when you come to this place. Good portion and good taste at an excellent price. I came here for lunch and had the grilled salmon with a bowl of gumbo. All for only $10 (tax included). The salmon was well sauteed and grilled. The sauces (3 of them) tasted great. The place was clean despite the outside area that may not look like so. The customer service was quick and helpful. The location is on the way to hobby airport so it's very convenient for grabbing some quick bite if you are going to hobby for a flight and need some food. This is probably one of my favorite places for budget (and good) food in town. read more

Excellent service! Greeted me upon arrival, open seating tonight too. Happy hour special on beer was excellent! Draft beer was fresh and COLD!! Added a lime without asking, nice touch! Ordered the 12 piece jumbo grilled shrimp. (Oh how I wanted it fried instead!) Was a little disappointed in the size of the shrimp. Definitely not jumbo. It was also pressed flat and kind of dry. Cocktail sauce was very spicy and flavorable. Skipped the fries in favor of a salad. Wish I would have asked for it to be served before the meal. Did not like having it on the same plate as the main course. Salad should be served in a bowl-always! It was good so I can let it slide. I've driven by this place a 1000 times and we wanted shrimp tonight so we stopped in. The restaurant was packed, I didn't see a single table open. I think we got there at the perfect time becuse the line was out the door when we left. The place was very loud we could hardly hear each other. The waitress could not even hear when we asked questions or ordered. I told her I wanted fry's 3 times while she kept yelling frys or rice. We got the meal and it looked good. The roll was a normal roll out the bag, the frys are frozen. The shrimp fried rice was blah tasted like plan rice with bell pepper in it. The shrimp was the main reason we came and i was not impressed. The biggest issue was they cut it down the middle and looks like they beat it. When it's fried there was more batter than shrimp. The batter was good but It could have been anything in there becuse there was no taste of shrimp. The music ‍ the same song played over and over and over again. It's play a beat and then stop and repeat the whole meal. It got to be an annoying joke to say when it would stop. Good part was the prices and I'm guessing it's the reason this place was packed. Prices are very reasonable and they had family deals everyone around us had. If you like quantity over quality hit this place up. read more

This is my goto place for seafood gumbo, their portions are always extra generous and extra flavorful. Other resturants give you a small bowl of gumbo with a tiny bit of rice, since its meant to be an appetizer. Not here, their gumbo is meant for an entree. Full of protein, rice, and veggies in a nice flavorful roux. read more

3.5 stars today. So I came here after spending two hours at Jumping World down in Pasadena. I was pretty hungry after all that bouncing around, so we decided to stop somewhere for a bite to eat, because 45 was packed, as always. Might as well have some good grub while we're waiting on traffic to die down right? As far as the ambiance, the place isn't super fancy, but that doesn't bother me a bit. We got there around 2 PM, and it appeared to be mostly guys having a late lunch/ early happy hour. The place was mostly clean, there was some spilled water just outside of our booth and other places on the floor (it was raining), but nothing that looked too crazy. Service was very prompt and friendly, although the young lady that took our order missed something that we asked for. No big deal, that's life. The food comes out in about 10 minutes, and it's very hot and fresh. I had the lunch special: two pieces of fish, six shrimp and a side of fried rice. Portion size was good, however the shrimp were butterflied extremely thin to make them appear much larger than what they really are, making them borderline tough as they got cold. $15 for two people at lunch is not a bad deal, but I'd be willing to pay a few dollars more to have larger shrimp that hadn't been manipulated for more than meets the eye. The bathrooms could use a bit of a touch up as well, but nothing that would make me say I would say I never want to come back. If I'm in the area, I'd give this place another try. read more

We noticed the happy hour pricing and each ordered a shrimp cocktail. We also ordered the 2 fish, 2 shrimp and 2 oyster plate to share. The shrimp cocktails were huge and delicious. Very fresh! We were both pleasantly surprised at the size, appearance and freshness of this dish. The fried plate was definitely large enough to share. The shrimp were large and tasty, the fish tasted light and fresh, but the "oysters" were a miss. I think they were wrapped in jalapeño, popper style. That was not in the description on the menu and was a disappointment. We experts two fresh fried oysters. I stopped by Mannie's last Monday for lunch. This was my first time eating there so when I looked at the menu, there were to dishes that had stars by them. I chose one which was the Catfish and shrimp plate. OUTSTANDING!! Prior to eating that, I got a shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and man was it delicious! It was small, but damn good. To wash it all down, I wanted a couple of beers, but when I looked at the prices (which were very reasonable) it was cheaper to go with a pitcher. They had on tap Bud, Dos XX, and ???. I got the Dos XX and it was super cold and they served it with a frozen mug. WHAT!! I was in heaven and the waitress I had was SUPER nice!! Mannie's is awesome and I will be back. We have had trouble finding something in the Houston Hobby Airport area that we really enjoy. This was probably on the upper end of what we have found, but still not great. The seafood all tasted like it was fried in the same oil, and the salad was ok. The fried rice was the best item on the plate. read more
