The surgery requires some 30-90 minutes. I spent the next 2 days in ICU and 19 days afterwards in a Franciscan Medical Facility for treatment. He had spilled bone marrow in my soft tissue, causing heterotopic ossification. Neede treatment for the ossification. I was discharged from the Fransiscan facility with a cardio-vascular problem, leading to a five-year recovery by treatment with medications., which ended mid 2021.

Please save yourself some grief and have your surgery done elsewhere…read more Doctor Brakstad made a careless mistake on my surgery and caused me to be in the hospital for 2 months instead of a week for an ileostomy. When I was released he promised me I'd be put back together in 6-8 weeks. So at the 8 week mark, I called him and now he wants me to get a colonoscopy before I get put back together. So I had the colonoscopy April 1st and I call doctor Brakstad's office every week to try to schedule my final surgery and they say he's not here and that they'll take a message and get back to me. Well it's been 3 weeks and they haven't gotten back to me. Now I have to go through the hassle of finding somewhere else to put my intestines back together. I'm lucky I have such an understanding girlfriend.

The horrible performance of his staff drove me to find someone else to perform my surgery. When making appointment, I told the person I spoke with they would need to get hold of archived records from my earlier breast cancer treatment. She said, no problem, they would arrange that. Arrived for first meeting/consultation with Dr. Brakstad - no records were on hand. Left that meeting (on a Friday) having been told that on Monday I would hear from the plastic surgeon he recommends, and that we would move forward with scheduling surgery for the following week. By Wednesday morning, having heard nothing, I call the plastic surgeon's office to see if I can move things along. They have never heard of me, and tell me next week is now booked up. She'll check with Brakstad's office and get back to me. By end of that day, still have heard nothing. From anyone. I guess it's time to go back to the drawing board and find someone else to remove the cancerous tumor from my breast. I sure do hope the two weeks I've wasted on this disorganized operation are not the window of time when cancer cells will have a chance to migrate to other parts of my body.

I was worried that because they are so big and have so many patients that it would just be a repeat of last year's physical. 9:00 AM on a Wednesday I was checked in, processed, weighed, measured, and set for Dr. Transue to pop in not 3 minutes after I'd sat my butt down in a comfy chair they had in the exam room for me. I had about 5+ health questions for her, of which she answered EVERY ONE. Before we did anything else. And took her time with it. Not only that, but every time I mentioned something that previous doctors had nothing to say about, she immediately knew what I was talking about and was able to diagnose all of my ailments. She clearly had the know-how when it came to every question I had and it seemed like she was really listening to me. Just a few days after my appointment, my nose piercing got infected and I knew I needed medication but didn't want to go all the way back to the doctor. So I emailed Dr. Transue about it--and within ONE DAY she emailed me back and had sent in a prescription to my pharmacy. Conclusively, Dr. Emily Transue is the best medical experience that I've had to date in Seattle. A great doctor is a very important thing, and I've found mine!

Some times I get a little emotional when I'm going through stuff and she just so happens to ask me about 'stuff' and she hands me the Kleenex box and listens and offers suggestions. On line is a great experience too, I had surgery with a completely different Dr. and a completely different facility but when I couldn't get a hold of them for advice and medication it was Dr. Transue that came to my rescue. When you're telling her things she is CONSTANTLY typing away in your record, at first I was a little concerned that she wasn't listening but the next visit 9ish months later she asked me follow up questions to things I had expressed concern about before. Referring to some of my statements as "conspiracy theories". When I pressed for further clarification, he simply got angry and talked down to me as if I was a child. The arrogant and total lack of self awareness that exhibited is appalling. Neal seemed intent to only adding more drugs.  He gave me no other guidance or recommendations in terms of diet, exercise, supplements, limit alcohol, weight loss, or next steps,NOTHING.The longer the session went on, the more impatient, arrogant and condescending he became.  I will be changing Clinics and doctors.

He is also not a fan of the "trendy" diets or fads and will be subtle about it, but you will know that he is a proponent of the healthy lifestyle, not the trendy and most fashionable "let's make a buck" type of fad that I've experienced from other Bellevue Physicians. He puts you right at ease, despite the fact he may be talking to you about some pretty serious stuff. He clearly cares about his patients, taking time to explain all the steps and possibilities in laymen's terms. He remembered exactly who I was three months after my first visit, another display of taking the time to acknowledge and care for his patients. Other staff is also friendly in a genuine, not-just-a-part-of-their-job kind of way. Only downside: the usual phlabotomist wasn't there my second visit and the nurse who drew my blood was definitely too aggressive and left me with a good bruise.

My husband and I found Dr Raisis to be very friendly, respectful and great bedside manner. I am very, very picky about who my doctors are, and I immediately felt very comfortable with Dr Raisis. In the recovery room I heard staff talking about him, and they had nothing but good things to say about him. In my book, if medical staff speaks highly of a doctor, that is who I'm going too see! Dr Pritchett made a good choice!! Two wonderful doctors, and this morning, I'm sore but no real pain!! I was told to expect lots of pain post op...doesn't seem to be happening! And I credited those two doctors and the great staff at Swedish Ortho Insitiute!!

I don't live in Seattle anymore so this review is rather overdue, but I am currently reviewing my…read morerecords from Dr. Raisis and his colleague Dr. Steege, which reminded me I wanted to review them here. Dr. Raisis in particular was completely disinterested in my case; he was never receptive to anecdotes that would help explain my symptoms (in fact, he outright said he had never seen my particular issue in his career, when in fact it is a fairly common issue and relatively easy to see on diagnostic images, according to information I've gathered and surgeons I've met in the meantime). For a few years I defended him, saying that while his bedside manner was terrible, he was a good "mechanic." That changed when I was diagnosed and treated for a rare infection that Dr. Raisis had neglected to warn me was a possibility of the last surgery he had done on me. In fact, Dr. Steege had seen me while I was trying to get a diagnosis, and he correctly guessed what was wrong but dismissed me saying that couldn't be the case. By the time my infection was diagnosed, there was an imminent threat of kidney failure (yes, stemming from a neuro issue!). I would not recommend Dr. Raisis or his colleague Dr. Steege. Terrible customer service, and negligent doctors with little interest in cases they do not find compelling.

I went to VM on a doctor referral to pursue next steps for a specific issue and Janet immediately…read moredismissed the direction my doctors requested. Immediately, as in, as she was still walking in the door and I'd just said hello. I had to correct Janet several times during my visit because she didn't review my chart. She took one look at me and somehow had her mind made up about what I was coming in for as well as solutions. She didn't let me talk about my symptoms, didn't look at paperwork that was filled out during check-in, and didn't look at my referral, otherwise she'd know the issue I was hoping to address. Whenever I'd try to direct her back to the issue I hoped to address, she would cut me off and proceed to speak over me. It was clear from our conversation she didn't review my medical history prior to the appointment either. My lab work clearly pointed to the reason my doctor asked me to come to this appointment in the first place and because Janet didn't review it, she continued to bring up a medication that would potentially cause me harm. Throughout the visit, Janet was mainly focused on my weight (right in the middle of normal BMI range) and spent most of the appointment telling me to eat more. Maybe she meant well like a mom scolding a child kind of way, but this was highly inappropriate and irrelevant. I kept trying to redirect her back to the medical records. As she glanced through, she made multiple exclamations that I felt were unnecessary, for example commenting, "So, you were WITH YOUR PARTNER FOR FIFTEEN YEARS?" with disbelief after firing questions at me around my sexual history and then reading my chart incorrectly. Her attitude and string of questioning me with suspicion was that of an interrogator, rather than an empathetic medical professional. During my exam, she also took a lab sample, even though she said she would not be doing swabs and only do a physical exam. I am currently trying to figure out what that swab was for, why we did it, and where it went (since in hindsight she didn't ask me to confirm my name/ birthdate). Giving 2 stars in case she's just having a really bad day, but otherwise I truly felt violated throughout my visit and would recommend avoiding.
