The prior business listed the smog check for ~$47, but it became $89 for a "luxury car." I even called to confirm the price. The person on the phone did not tell me, if you have a luxury car, it's going to cost more. If the business does not practice fair they do not deserve my business. US Smog Check on the other hand was very transparent in pricing and their workspace was clean. They have 3 workstations for the cars to get smogged; the drive in and out of the place was easy since the garage is a through and through. There was no additional cost for a "luxury" car because a car is a car. Different size cars with big engines (big trucks), different fuel (diesel), and year (older than 2000), I get the additional cost. They posted their pricing and it is fair. Y'all... I accidentally found a diamond in the rough…read more I called around 4:30, fully expecting them to tell me they were closing. Instead, this man says, "Come on, I'll wait for you." Not only that, he knew there was construction around the shop and made sure I knew exactly how to find it. That alone told me he actually cares about people, not just getting them in and out. The smog check was DMV certified, fast, and efficient--but not one of those places where they're rushing you out the door like they're late for dinner. He took his time, did the job right, answered my questions, and made me feel comfortable. He has one of those personalities that just feels like you've known him forever. Now listen... if you're on Holt, SLOW DOWN because you'll drive right past it. It's between Campus and Grove, and it's easy to miss if you're flying down the street like you're in the Indy 500. The shop isn't fancy, and it could use a little cleaning and organizing, but don't let appearances fool you. I'd rather have an honest mechanic than a pretty waiting room any day. I haven't used him for repairs yet, but he also does oil changes, brakes, and other mechanical work. Based on how he treated me over a simple smog check, I have a feeling I may have just found the mechanic everyone hopes to have in their back pocket. Good, honest people are hard to come by these days. This is the kind of small business I'd rather support over the big chains. I'll definitely be back. However, there was a small difference, not sure if it's after tax or not. Online there's a coupon for $35, but in person they charged $40 for the coupon. I don't know if there's a fee that was missed or if they just never updated the price for the online coupon, but it's only a $5 difference, so nothing I'd make too big a deal over. The whole process took about 30-45 minutes. Be aware, there's no place to sit or shade while you wait, so plan accordingly. Since there was another customer in front of me, I had to wait for them to finish first and was hiding behind a truck's shade. Once it got to my turn, it was pretty quick. They also do take card.

Excellent service from Sam on completing our Smog Certification on a Ford Fusion. We purchased a…read morenew battery for the car just prior to having a smog check. This required a special drive sequence to allow the cars computer to activate to allow for the test to be made. We couldn't get accurate details on what the drive cycle process would be to complete the test from another smog station over a month earlier that had declared the car had failed to pass testing. Even the Ford dealer told us to just drive the car for a few more days and it would automatically re-set. It wasn't nearly that simple on this Ford. Sam was very helpful, pleasant, and enjoyable to talk to. He spent time with me on the phone the day before we visited his shop explaining the very likely reason the drive- cycle wasn't completed, and what it would take to resolve the issue. With his help the next day at his shop the car was cleared to test and the smog certificate issued, all within a couple of hours. His quote for work was very fair for the testing and certificate, and he honored the quote provided on the phone the day before. The work was completed exactly when promised. Arrow Smog definitely has a new and permanent customer. We had a lot of anxious moments the past month thinking there was something seriously wrong with the Fusion where a few simple steps needed to be followed to correct the issue and get the car's new license plate tags for this year.
