I've been coming here for almost 15 years. The alterations work here is OUTSTANDING!!! I've lived in many cities around the world (NYC included) and I will still save my stuff into a pile for when I can go to Manola's Alterations. I've tried other places in the various cities I've lived in, nowhere comes even close to the kind of work they do here. I am very picky detail oriented person. I currently drive 45 minutes each way to Manola's Alterations and it is 110% worth it!! The hem work on expensive jeans to keep the original hem is impeccable, the designers themselves probably couldn't tell the difference. The work on formal wear is also incredible. I've had them do everything from a simple hem to altering intricate details/lace overlays/appliqué etc... THE BEST OF THE BEST!! read more

I was referred here by my friend. She said that both her and her mom had been using Teresa for alterations for years. She altered a bridesmaid dress for me and did a really great job. I have a large bust and it was really important that the top of the strapless gown fit me well. The dress stayed up and fit snug, no matter how much I danced at the wedding (I can't say the same for my friends dress, she kept having to pull hers up because her seamstress didn't do such a great job). The most unprofessional person I've ever encountered in a business. I brought her a dress to alter and she said to me with obvious displeasure and annoyance "this is hard, why not just buy the dress in your size?" First, it was my size but it still didn't fit properly, I was only having her adjust the length of the arms and the breast area which was too baggy. Not that it's her business, but the smaller size wouldn't have fit me anyway. To top it off, when I went to pick up my stuff two weeks later, she said they weren't ready and had me retry the clothes and then told me two more weeks because it was my fault that the clothes weren't ready -- too difficult a job. Appalling. If I hadn't paid her, I'd have taken my stuff back. She has an undesirable personality and seems to think that patrons to her business are an irritation to she shouldn't have to bear. Under no circumstances would I recommend her. read more

I brought my bridesmaid dress here to be let out. She did a great job - it looked exactly like it did when I brought it in except it fit! Perfectly! 1) I got charged different prices for the same alteration. 2) I dropped off clothes to get altered and they wouldn't be ready even 2 weeks after they were promised. This happened 3 times. 3) I had to have the same article of clothing altered 2-3 times because it didn't fit the first time. This happened multiple times. I was told I must be losing weight. I wish but it was not the case. Then after altering it multiple times, the didn't fit properly and it was an expensive suit. 4) finally, they were rude when I asked why my clothes weren't ready. I said this is the third time. She told me, "your clothes are too hard to tailor." I said that's fine and to give me my clothes and I left. Ironically, I was simply getting my son's onesies cut into t-shirts. The owner was rude and like I said, she changed the price of tailoring on the same item I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

Subpar service with even worse prices. Was originally quoted for $25 total for getting a pair of pants hemmed and a suit jacket sleeve adjusted. I noticed a sign for a deposit and offered to place one, but she said it is not needed. I went out of town for a week and she said it would be ready the day I get back. I got back late that day so I decided to wait the next day to pick it up. Once I got there, she said it was not ready. I left it there for a week. I came back the next day and she decided to charge me $55 for the two items and said it was because I did not put down a deposit. I would not have mind if I was told $55 from the start, but when you lie to a client and tell them you never said what you did. is when it is not right. Would not recommend. read more

I needed two things altered and was told to come back in 5 days. When I came back to pick them up two full weeks later they were not ready. The woman who I believe is the owner was very rude and told me they weren't ready, like it was no big deal. She said to come back after 3pm and they would be ready. I went back at 4pm and they still weren't done and again she was rude and not apologetic about the fact that they were not done. She told me to then wait while she rushed to do the job and it was done very poorly. While I was waiting, another gentleman came in and had the same issue that she told him to come back that day and she had not done the job. I would definitely not recommend. read more

I needed alterations for my husbands jeans and saw a previous review on yelp for this location. I thought ok let's give it a try. My husband's levis needed to not only be shortened but also have the lower leg width reduced. We were so pleased by the attention to detail and the customer service that I felt I had to write this review. The alterations were so professionally done that I'm sure nobody would even noticed he ever had his jeans shortened. They look as though he bought them off the shelf. The staff here is not friendly and the work is not good. I took jeans to be patched at the inner thigh. The patches were cut out pieces of jeans with no finishing, so there are threads hanging loose everywhere. They are rectangular shaped but only three sides were sewn on. When I asked if the fourth side could be sewn so that it wouldn't get caught and rip off, the lady scowled and reluctantly did it. For this I paid $15.90. read more

This place was the worst. I'm taking the time to warn others about the unprofessional & uncourteous experience I had with this business. I was told over the phone that she did do tablecloths & to bring fabric & old tablecloth to use as a template. When I dropped it off on Wednesday she said it would be ready the following week & that she would call me. Well....she never called & when I contacted her she said ohh.....no I didn't have time so why don't you pick it up next Tuesday. Now we're 2 weeks into this & I arrive on Wednesday of the following week and she tells me oh....I didn't have time.....really???? I ask for fabric back & under her breath she gave me the most disingenuous apology.......I was pissed to say the least. How is this lady in business. Needless to say , I don't recomend this place at all. Stay away....not worth the headache. read more

This place is awesome! I was a Bridesmaid for my brother's wedding and brought in the dress to get tailored. I had recently had my baby the day I was fitted for the dress, so needless to say, the dress was about two sizes too big for me when it finally arrived several months later. I had about two weeks to get it fixed for my brother's wedding when I brought the dress to Manola's. I was anxious the day I picked it up, hoping it would fit me and it did! Manola's did an amazing job and the dress fit me perfectly. The best part is that the dress didn't look tailored at all. I would give this zero stars if i could. Many people recommended going to see Theresa to get my bridesmaids dress altered. I dropped it off last week Thursday. She told me to come pick it up today(weds) at 3:30. I got there at 3:25 and at first she did not know where my dress was. Then she realized it was never altered! I leave first thing tomorrow morning and my dress was not even looked at since i dropped it off. She was very apologetic but i had to wait almost 40 mins for them to get my dress finished. And then she was going to charge me full price!! I asked her why she would charge me when the dress wasn't touched let alone done at the time she told me to be there for pickup. She gave me an attitude and simply said "i said im sorry what else do you want me to do?" I was soo angry. She told me the best she could do was take $5.00 off. I ended up paying $53.00 to get 1-1/2 inches taken off of my dress AND to have to sit and wait for over half an hour to pick it up. Very UNPROFESSIONAL and rude. I will never be going back and urge you to go somewhere else for any alteration needs!! read more

This was first time going to an alteration shop and I trusted Manola's because of the great reviews. Teresa is fantastic, she is nice, knowledgeable, and gets to know you at least by face. I just picked up my wedding dress after a couple of visits and although it was all lace and very delicate she didn't once give me a hard time and even offered to bring it back if I lose any weight from now until the wedding. I have been using Manola's for all my family's alterations for 7 or 8 years. She is a pleasure to deal with and does excellent work. She was able to alter down a bridesmaid's dress for me three sizes. It took two fittings and drove her crazy but ended up looking great. I have trusted her with my daughter's very expensive pageant gowns many times.. She is careful about working around beading and patterns on the dresses so they always look perfect.
