They initially gave me a room with no bed (likely the living room area for a suite) and they immediately fixed the problem. Once I got into my room, it was relaxing and wonderful. The king rooms have a walk in shower and the twin queen bed rooms have a bathtub/shower combo. I mention this as those traveling with kids might prefer the tub option. Every room has a mini fridge. Traveling with little ones here is nice because they can offer a microwave in your room if requested. Made a big difference for us traveling with a young one. The gym is small but they do have a peloton bike among other equipment like free weights and other cardio equipment. Complimentary breakfast has warm savory options like egg burritos both with and without meat. They also offer oatmeal, fruit, yogurt and bagels with plenty of refreshments. Parking is free and easy to find. There's also a complimentary shuttle to take you to places on campus if you have no car. There are also bikes at the hotel to get around. All in all, we enjoyed our stay as did our guests for graduation.

They are pretty common these days so don't think it would be a hard thing to put in. We had to keep buying water bottles from the front desk which felt wasteful. This hotel is downtown with plenty of things to walk to. The restaurant next door that does the room service for the hotel is great.

This Hyatt Place's best attribute is their location. It is right in the middle of Champaign and is located in a walkable area. The place is relatively clean and everything inside is kept up to date. On my last stay, everything seemed to be not working, which ultimately made my stay more unpleasant. The TV in room was unable to connect to the cable and the shower drain was clogged. Not only that, but things outside of my room seemed to be out of order as well. The cooler in the front lobby wasn't working so all of the drinks weren't chilled upon purchase, and no cookies! A tragedy! Also, the heat in the gym didn't seem to be functioning, which on a night where the temperature was in the negatives, made working out a not-so fun experience. I think I would chalk all of this up to a bad day in the office. I do see myself coming back because I am in town on business quite a bit. However, as someone who tends to fancy other hotel brands, this Hyatt Place will certainly need to have a better day!

This hotel is in prime position. It's very walkable relative to campus, close to the hospital, restaurants are walkable, heck it even is close enough to my now favorite Chinese restaurant in town. It doesn't get too loud at night and getting onto the highway isn't too difficult. Additionally, I like their front lobby and breakfast. It is spacious, lots of room to work and have small meetings and the breakfast is solid, with plenty of options. Everything else is where the problems arise. To hotel itself feels a bit older and the furniture/rooms are a bit antiquated. Just little things like the shower tub not having proper water flow and the working desks being really small are what differentiate this hotel with others I've stayed at. My rooms have been a bit more cramped and uncomfortable. Additionally, I didn't find the pillows to be all that comfortable. Oh, and I can't forget to mention that I found bugs of the bed kind my first visit. At least the staff handled it efficiently for me! Lastly, my favorite hotel amenity, the gym, is simply not as built out as other hotel gyms. There are just three machines in there that again, feel really old, and no weight lifting equipment. For me, there are many reasons why I'd say this Hampton Inn is not my top pick, but depending on your situation, the location may just be worth it!

My big issue is that the room temp has a cap at 75 degrees and it shuts off frequently even when the auto is not on. We haven't even hit negative temps in the area yet so I'm curious how the heating is through the winter. There was also hair on 1 of the towns when I entered the room.

But imagine my surprise when I checked the credit card bill to find we were charged $1215!!!! for those 2 nights. And I'm assuming the room was rented out again for that night!! Because students were coming back apparently that allows for hotels to gouge visitors to Champaign! We have been Hilton Honor members for a number of years but this is absurd!! The hosts allowed me leeway for breakfast, keeping the dining room open while I snarfed down an abundance of snacks, treats, breakfast items, fruit - they seem to have everything. Everything is so neat and so tidy, but not at all fussy. I honestly feel like I could stay here all winter. If you are ever in Champaign/Urbana, there's no other place to stay. What a delight and what a find - a glittering jewel amidst a pile of crass Comfort Inns and Highway Hotels.
