Dee Forbey is an awesome person! She takes in & finically supports animals n this county that people toss away! She has a great PASSION for spay & neutering all animals. She has seen & continues to see thousands of unwanted & abused animals. She does not believe n locking ur dog n a kennel for the duration of ones vacation or weekend trip..... This is the reason why all the animals at her house stay n groups depending on size. They r free to play whenever they want, no limitations. Boarding at any vets office means ur animal is alone & n a cage! She spends everyday taking care of unwanted, abused animals by doctoring them, feeding them, cleaning up after them, nurturing them, re-gaining trust w them, loving ALL of them & ultimately saving them. My vet displays Man's Best Friend's cards on his front counter, which is how I came across Dee Forbey. Over the past few years, I have had several dealings with Dee and Man's Best Friend. I've had my dogs groomed at her facility and am very pleased with the service. I have also taken a total of 6 cats (strays abandoned behind my father-in-law's house) to Dee for her to spay/neuter through a program she works with. She always accepts them, even if she has nine other cats to take in. This is on her own time, often at her own expense. I once had a kitten spayed that had a hard time and Dee offered to foster her for me for free until I could get a safe place set up for her. The happy animals that greet you when you walk onto the property are testament to her love for them. Drive by and check out the place for yourself. You won't see a happier bunch of animals anywhere in the Imperial Valley. read more

So I'm a little surprised by people that had good experiences here. I have used this place twice. Once for grooming and once on accident for a neuter .when I brought my 2 dogs here for grooming I was hesitant to leave them there to say the least but the lady was nice so I went against my gut feeling. when I picked them up and brought them home I was extremely upset to find patches of blood everywhere. the 2nd visit was with my cat to be neutered. my usual vet was booked so I used this placed. after 700 dollars in vet fees I can now say my cat is gonna make it. oh and he came back missing the tip of his ear. my vet informed me that is how they tell if a cat is a feral cat! what! now my house cat that was purchased as a kitten is missing the tip of his ear read more

My Mother has taken her little 10 year old dog to Dee in the past. Last month she had the most upsetting experience ever. She dropped her dog off at 9am when they opened, for a hair cut. They kept him all day, and she wasn't able to pick him up until 5pm. When she got home, she noticed spots of blood by his water dish. After looking him over completely, she found several nicked areas on his little body. His foot was nicked, the tip of his nose was nicked and bleeding, and the tip of his penis was nicked and bleeding. It took a week for theses areas to stop bleeding and heal. My mother was so devastated by the care and treatment her dog received at Man's Best Friend, she will NEVER take her dog there again! She will definitely not recommend her to friends in the future. read more

I adopted two cats from here and they died within the first two weeks- very frustrating, especially for my younger children. My Grandmother had adopted a dog a couple of years ago, and he died within the first two months. While I'm sure there are good intentions here for rescuing animals, I think they need to do a better job with getting the proper care to the animals before adopting them out (unless they are given away for free). To Ashley M.- There is actually an official Humane Society in the valley located in El Centro, but it is very small. Good idea though for someone else trying to get their own rescue going. read more

We took our Shi Zhu terrier mix for haircut & grooming and couldnot be happier with the great job they did. Very nice caring people and our dog was fine when he came home. Previously he has been very upset by the grooming process at other locations but Mans Best Friend was great. read more

We recently adopted two kittens from here and they BOTH got sick not much longer, there third eyelid was showing, and it got to the point where the kittens eyeball looked like it was about to pop out of the side. They kept sneezing and had runny noses, and there eyes were leaking a booger looking wet substance. Theres too many animals running around in the kitchen and throughout the house, it doesnt seem they have enough time to give sick cats the proper attention they need. read more

Worst grooming place ever when i went to go pick up my lab the coat still had soap the ears were filthy and my dog had a bump on top of his head the groomer in the front yells at the dogs and the dogs are mostly outside all day the bather in the back does not do such a good job bathing the dogs there work area smells like pee and poop the groomers in there do not have a good passion for the animals the man that is there is real helpful to me he is a good guy but the groomer and bather are not good at what they do my dog is really itching from the soap in the coat and the dirt in the ears too i fo not reccomend this place to anybody worst grooming place ever read more
