If I could give this Inn 100 stars I would. We found this Inn out of the blue last April while trying to find a place to stay that was on the beach and close to the train station. We didn't know what to expect, but their reviews were great so we figured it was most likely okay. It was a fabulous trip last year. Room was super clean,beach theme was cute, and great. Fast forward to this year. I had a major injury occur this fall and am temporarily unable to walk well. We still wanted to take a trip. I called the Inn as I remembered the room was definitely handicapped accessible and the bathroom had a walk -in shower. Plus, the patio sits right on the beach. Even though I couldn't go in the sand, I could still absolutely enjoy the ocean. The owners were AMAZING and super accommodating and fantastic with communication via phone and email. I asked for the same room, they made it happen. I asked for ice to be left in the freezer for my knees, they made it happen. I asked for a shower chair, they made it happen! While checking in, I met a family member of the owners and she was incredibly nice. We had a long conversation about my injury. She gave me an extra towel for the bathroom for water so I don't slip and fall, and said if we needed anything else during the stay to not hesitate to ask. We got lucky and landed a week (8 days) at this amazing Inn! First, let me say the owners, Donna and Duane, are the nicest, friendliest, most accommodating hosts you can ask for! There aren't many rooms but all are apartments. There's a living room with small kitchen, bathroom and separate bedroom. They do have 2 - 2 bedroom units as well. Only 2 stories. Our room was on the first floor. Open our door and the beach was a mere 100 feet away. Such a beautiful view! We met so many great people during our stay. Many of them are "snowbirds" and come down for 4-6 weeks at a time. It's like a family there. We were welcomed immediately! The Inn hosts a lunch every Wednesday afternoon. Just a little cook out with hotdogs, etc. It happened to rain the Wednesday we were there and they moved it to Friday. They also hosted a Valentine's Day dinner! Chicken, salads, wine.... It was a great time. They also gave us flowers and a little box of candy for Valentine's Day The cleaning staff was fantastic! They came in everyday and made the beds, took out the trash etc. So friendly too! If you needed anything at all you just had to ask it poof... it was done! I was so sad to leave but we are definitely going back next year! Have to say hello to our new friends, Helen and Barry, Nancy and Todd, Pat and Dave.... many many more. read more

The Convention hotel down the street was full. So I was given the task of finding reasonable accomodations for my wife and I. I found the Manta Ray Inn. I reviewed the website and the one review on Yelp. It looked like it could work. I contacted the Manta Ray via email to make reservations. They replied promptly and requested I pay for one night in advance. I gave them my credit card number and faxed them a signed authorization. We arrived at the Manta Ray at about 5:00 p.m. Parking was conveniently right next to the building. We were greeted and shown to our very spacious apartment. It had a livingroom/kitchen area with a refridgerator, sink, oven, stovetop, coffee maker and microwave. The bedroom had two full size beds with homey comforters. The Air Conditioning unit was in the bedroom and the room was nice and cold. A clean bathroom with a hairdryer and a fresh new bar of Irish Spring soap completed our apartment. It did take a few minutes for the hot water to come on in the shower but eventually it did, and we were comfortable. We watched Monday night football on the 41inch flat panel TV and then went to sleep. The Manta Ray was very quiet. The next day, my wife went to the convention and I was able to walk the Boardwalk, walk on the beach, sit outside my room and enjoy the ocean view or (don't tell anyone) get on the Manta Ray's free wifi internet and check my office emails. At half the price of the resort hotel this place was truly a bargain and we really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that kept this from being a five star review was the beds were very soft. If they had been firmer, I would not hesitate to give this a five star rating. That said, if we come back next year, we are going to be staying at the Manta Ray again. Stayed here for two nights and loved it! I've always dreamed of staying in a property literally on the beach... And this was it! The apartment we stayed in was fully equipped. Large TV in the living room with cable, also a TV in the bedroom. The apartment was really cosy and homely we really didn't want to leave. Oh and the beds were SUPER comfortable. They are also very generous with the amount of necessities they give you for free - e.g bathing towels & flannels, beach towels, complimentary bottled water, coffee, tea and many more. There is a safe in a cupboard in each apartment. You can also use the grills/BBQ equipment, beach chairs and beach/water toys. They give you many instructions & useful information in a folder. Everything in the apartment worked well and was very easy to use we had no problems. The proximity to the beach is so close, part of the building is on top of the sand. To top it off their customer service is amazing! From beginning to end every single member of staff we encountered was very happy, friendly and helpful. The owner (the son) was very nice, helpful and accommodating from beginning to end. Great service means everything! I would definitely stay again and recommend. read more

No elevators. No hallways. A wide open beach and ocean -- it's the perfect spot to ride out COVID and still feel like you are on vacation. We had plenty of space and ways to stay distant from other guests, and the rooms are sanitized when you walk in. You control how often housekeeping comes into the room. My two weeks here were the most blissful of 2020. I had scheduled four vacations this year -- the only one that panned out was Manta Ray Inn. I am thoroughly disappointed in my very short experience there this past weekend. Easter Sunday to be exact. What happened in this short time? Nothing less than the most uncomfortable experience I've ever encountered for no reason what so ever. The weather was beautiful, the beach was just right and I felt inspired to take the drive from (West Kendall) Miami, FL. to Hallandale beach to take in the views, relax during an extremely stressful period in my life and wanted to entertain an idea to look into what the weekly rate would be to stay at the Manta Ray Inn. Yes I could've just called but I wanted to really get the feel for the place before committing to anything. So I hopped in the car, made my way to Hallandale and picked up some lunch too. When I arrived and walked around the Inn's grounds, I figured before I go in the office with all this food to instead eat it at the one of the 3-4 EMPTY tables they had ocean side. I was there for no more than 10 minutes and this woman (which I soon came to find was the owner) comes charging right towards me, dead eye contact and looked at me as if I was on the property with an "up to no good" kind of look. I immediately felt extremely uncomfortable. She asked if I was currently a guest at the Inn and I told her that I wasn't but was interested. That for years my family went to the one next door and that I was interested in looking in the weekly rate (since I was thinking of going a week that my family does not go to their timeshare). She responded very quickly with the rate and then KICKS ME OUT! My favorite part of what she stated was: Since we are family based we do our best to reserve this area for the families and guests of the Inn. I looked around as she said that and quickly was reminded that I was the only person sitting there. THE ONLY ONE! AND I'M A POTENTIAL GUEST!! So my response was: No problem I understand. My inside voice was actually stating this (and thank goodness for Yelp to be able to give me the voice to do this): You are acting more like corporate America than a family based business. It's Easter Sunday (whether you celebrate it or not), no one is around and I'm a potential guest to your Inn. You don't know the factors that brought me here and even consider this place. This is how you treat potential guests? I'll take my business elsewhere. Probably just stick to the amazing place just next door to you too. UNBELIEVABLE! read more

We have now come back to the Manta Ray three times in the past five years. It is so nice to walk 10 feet out your front door and be on the beach. The rooms are great with all the cookware you need, gas grills for cooking out and the owners make sure your stay is enjoyable. No elevators, no parking garages, no long hallways; this is Florida the way it should be enjoyed. read more

We stopped in Manta Ray Inn not having prior reservations. This 12 unit inn immediately appealed to me. It is well laid out, right on the beach, very clean and comfortable. We have a 2 bedroom suite. It has a nice kitchenette and a great view of the ocean. While it is not a big mega resort with tons of facilities, what it does have is fantastic access to a very nice beach and perhaps the nicest, most attentive service I have ever seen. My family's adjectives include, comfortable, cozy, friendly service, right on the beach, they don't skimp on anything. Manta Ray Inn has a comforting, old fashioned, family warmth. We will definitely look forward to a return visit. read more

This place is a gem. It sits right on the beach. The owners are thoughtful and kind and genuinely interested in making guests feel at home. The setting is intimate and cozy, with picnic tables with benches and a BBQ in the garden -- overlooking the beach. The suites are large and have a fun South Florida vibe. Also, this hotel is amazingly child friendly! The owners went out of their way to set us up with not only a high chair and a crib, but also an improvised bathtub, because our son was afraid of the shower. One housekeeper even did our dishes several times because she saw I had my hands full with my toddler. Also, there's a big chest full of sand toys, beach balls, etc. on the beach -- my son was in heaven. All of us felt welcome at the Manta Ray Inn. I recommend reading the reviews on trip advisor -- the Manta Ray is ranked #1 in hotels in Hollywood, FL, and for a reason. It really is as amazing as the reviews say, no catch. read more

In town on short notice and looking to find rooms for myself and my siblings, Donna & Thomas couldn't have been more accommodating! Fortunately there was a two bedroom unit available that fit all of us. The room was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves, including a kitchen. We were able to gather at the courtyard overlooking the ocean at night and make good use of the propane grills. There were lounge chairs for us to use on the beach and Manta Ray even provided beach towels. Included was a parking spot in the secure lot. The "regulars" were friendly and welcoming to us. The Hollywood Broadwalk, with all it's shops and restaurants, is a short distance away and easy to walk to. Despite the unfortunate circumstances for all of us being in town together, we all enjoyed our stay and the accommodations at the Manta Ray. We highly recommend this family owned and operated Inn and will stay here again! read more

I've lost count of how many times I've stayed at the Manta Ray Inn now. Like an earlier reviewer, I've attended conventions at the hotel down the street, and still chose to stay here. The beach is right outside your door (no elevator rides and gates), and the atmosphere so laid back it's OK to take a morning stroll in your pajamas. You don't need a cover-up to run in and get a cold bottle of water out of your refrigerator. Nor do you pay for the lounge chairs, towels and sand toys for the kids. In the evenings, I have wi-fi to catch up on work-related things, and two flat screen televisions where I can watch movies from the hotel's library collection. Or, I can just open a window and listen to the soothing sound of the ocean. It's heaven from sunrise to sunset. read more
