The hotel is older and the best thing is that it's a 90 seconds walk from the beach. Check-in was challenging as they had the office blocked off on all sides. I walked around 15 minutes trying to find a way in but finally ended up calling to see where the entrance was. Just know this going in to call when you arrive. I was told the room was open and key was hanging on hook. The room was fine and bed was comfy. 3rd day I told them there was a lightbulb out in one of the lamps and the caulking was breaking away from the bathroom sink. I also had to request housekeeping for the trash to be emptied and bed to be changed. Note: you will need to do this too. Overall it's an older hotel and I was looking for budget friendly trip. It was a short walk to beach. If you don't mind the other things then go for it. read more

This motel is a little old, and the rooms could be a little cleaner, but I loved everything about staying here. First, when you walk in off the street, it's like you're escaping realty and walking into an island paradise. The courtyard is so cute. There are picnic tables and little sections to sit in under string lights and the (recorded) sounds of nature. It's really beautiful. Our room had a little kitchenette, which was a pleasant surprise! We had a fridge and microwave, and we had dishes! This turned out to be perfect for us during our trip because we were able to store our food and cook! The owners were super hospitable. They have a BBQ for guests to use. They also have towels and sunscreen available to borrow! Two more great tidbits about this motel: 1. It's literally a two minute walk to the beach 2. It's super affordable. If I'm in the area again, this is where I'm staying. Again, it's a little outdated, there are no frills, and our room could have been a little cleaner, but the bed was comfortable, the water pressure was good, I felt safe, and I loved the amenities. read more

I really enjoyed this little hotel which was located right on the beach (a minute walk away). I stayed here with my wife for 2 nights during the winter break in February and was really happy that we selected this spot. Here are some of the good things about the hotel- The location was great. The rooms were good (had a microwave and a fridge). They had a BBQ that was there for guests to use. We used it one night and it was great. They have a sitting garden area which was a great place to relax in the shade. The owners and people working their were nice. They set out coffee and granola bars in the morning. Altogether, this was a great spot to stay. It was cheap compared to other hotels located on the water and had a good vibe to it (as far as being able to chill in the garden area). While this is not a 4 star resort, it worked for me and I would absolutely go back. read more

This was the worst hotel that I've ever stayed at. Yes, it's super close to Hollywood Beach, but there are tons of other places to stay that are directly on the beach and near the beach. The nastiness of this hotel isn't worth the locale convenience. We stayed here post cruise and had a lot of luggage. When we arrived earlier than check-in, the gentleman in the office said that the room wasn't yet available, but he offered to store of luggage in lobby. We made a day of it and walked the beach that morning, up until late afternoon. When we arrived back to the "inn" he said that our room was unlocked and our luggage was moved into there. Ok, that was weird. My luggage left in an unlocked room, ummm. I was sandy and tired after the long afternoon beach day, but I still managed to be gracious and head to the room. The entire room and bathroom looked like an example of the bad motels, that you see in the movies. The tub didn't drain, so when I took a shower, the sandy water almost completely filled the tub. Then the shower faucet dripped and wouldn't turned off, so we later rushed back from dinner afraid that the drip and the drain issues would flood the room. I have to admit, at dinner, I tried to book another room somewhere else to no avail. They had us hook, line, and stinker. The bed sheets stunk like mildew, like when you leave a load of laundry in the washing machine and wait too long before putting them in the drier. Yeah, these sheets were like 5 days left in the washing machine, raunchy. I literally layered up in clothes to go to sleep. And as you can imagine, I literally slept 2 hours the entire night. I'd never arrived at an airport so early for a flight, literally 4 hours before my flight the next morning. I was actually happy to sleep in the airport seat. read more

PERFECT location! The boardwalk is easily accessible, anne kolb nature center is within walking distance, and a shuttle to downtown Hollywood isn't even a mile away. Definitely walkable, and close enough to the airport that it should only be a $12 uber ride if you don't want to rent a car. (Parking is available for an additional fee, and we did not have any issues with finding a space.) If you're going to Hollywood for the beach, this is a great location for the price. Service-wise, we thought they could do better. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, but didn't seem to be in the office very often. Complimentary coffee in the morning, but I would have appreciated some sort of continental breakfast. If you forget sunscreen, beach towels, or anything else, ask the folks in the office before buying anything. They had beach towels, sunscreen, yoga mats, and beach chairs available. The quality of the room was not the greatest. It seemed outdated, and per Florida weather, seemed to suffer from the effects of constant humidity. However, there was a mini fridge, microwave, an electric stove top, plates and silverware available. Nice kitchenette! The outdoor area was beautiful! I highly recommend enjoying a drink outside! This would be a great place for families to stay. (Cheap, necessities, close to beach, and easy to cook/make affordable meals.) More of a hostel experience than a hotel. read more

I rate this motel a 1 because I can't go lower! We booked a room here after we left the cruise ship and couldn't fly home until the next day. My husband found it on Travelocity where it rated 8 out of 10. There was never anyone on site to help you; it said in its description, no animals and the people staying in the room that was to be ours ha a huge dog. That family had to be told to leave so they could the room ready for us, they all walked out hacking and really looked sus! Meanwhike the description said clean room. I know someone was just in it but it stunk like dog, it looked trashed, they were cleaning the table and counters with paint thinner. There were cockroaches too. And they're was a homeless guy lying around In frony of "our" room asking for cigarettes and phone chargers. There were other couples from the cruise that booked there and like us, decided to leave and go somewhere else. We were told that we won't get our money back, that's another battle we are fighting. So if you want pay $185 for nasty, don't say you weren't warned. read more

After receiving a phone call from the wonderful folks at Royal Caribbean ( I thought it was a friend of mine playing a joke on me at first) offering me a two day, all-expense-paid trip for members of the press, on the innaugural launch of their newest ship, Allure of the Seas my first phone call was to my friend Phillip; since I was scheduled to be visiting him in Savannah around the date of departure I needed to know if he had made previous plans for us on Thanksgiving and if so were the plans something we could graciously opt-out of without Phillip being drummed out of the Junior League. Wow, for anyone that wants an amazingly awesome and unique experience this is the place. I was greeted by Philip, and he stated that my room was not quite ready yet but he gave me a beach towel a shot of rum and a Modelo, recommended a great taco restaurant and sent me out to the beach. It was a hilarious and interesting checkin as he is a unique and very colorful character who knows the ins and outs of the area where to go, where not to go and secret awesome things to do that only the locals know about. The room was light and bright with natural lighting a nice little kitchen with refrigerator and toaster oven comfortable bed and day bed. I was sad to hear the room he put me in was no longer available because I was going to switch from staying at the big Posh Margaritaville and stay here but he recommended the sister property where I will probably be staying the next 5 days and I will keep you updated. I recommend this place a hundred percent great location great restaurants the beach is less than hundred yards away. This is where I will always stay when I come back. Great job Philip. read more

What started off bad only got worse. To start, the owner, or assistant, or whomever she was called me on the day of my check in to notify me that the room I booked was not available due to construction. She explained that she was moving me to their sister property 5 blocks from their location and insisted that everything was taken care of. When I called their sister property at 10:15am, the Dream Inn, to make sure our room had been reserved, Florio informed me that he does not communicate with Veronika before 11am... Unsure of whether or not the transfer would actually be made, we received a call around 11 to confirm the reservation. We ended up staying the night, the hotel was exceptionally mediocre, and at 11am the day of our check out, Veronika comes banging on our door to tell us we needed to leave. I had not been notified of check out time once during or prior to our stay, and told her exactly that and that we would need 15 minutes to gather our belongings. Less than 5 minutes later she comes banging again, this time with Florio on the phone. Confused and annoyed, I took the device and told him I wasn't sure why we were communicating at that time. He also seemed confused. I explained to him that I had not been notified of check out procedures. I would not reserve a room at either establishment in the future and would deter you as well. read more

Booked room at another hotel. Husband cancelled it because it was 30+ minutes from the Hard Rock. Booked room here, great price. Went to sleep. Woke up, husband looked up pictures while waiting for me to get downstairs and in the car. Husband goes "this place looks bad.. and it's not by the beach. ^#^#" We drive there.. breathless. Husband felt so bad judging a Google post first. We had an amazing rest of the day and an amazing night laying on the beach, which was a block from the inn. The common area is beautiful. Peaceful. No problems checking in/out. No real parking concerns for us because we time things out, I can see how there may be a problem for others though. We were so relaxed, so upset when we had to go back to Tampa. I told my mother about this place. Great weekend getaway. I cannot wait to be back here. read more

I seriously felt like family staying here. My boyfriend and I were treated so well. it felt more like visiting loved ones than staying at a hotel. This was the cleanest, nicest motel I've ever stayed at. I'm usually not a motel person. Every room has a refrigerator/freezer. Most have ovens and stoves and tables. It is perfect to stay for a weekend and make yourself at home. The amenities make it able to cook. Even major hotel chains barely cover that and if so you have to pay an arm and a leg for it. As we first arrived around 9:30 I was surprised to see breakfast. Most places put that away by 9:00 but The Ocean Inn keeps it out until lunch. One of the workers immediately came out and showed me where I could find cold milk. Veronika is such a doll and will make you want to come back. She took pictures of my boyfriend and I and took as many as we liked. Most places just snap a picture but she was really wanting to make sure we liked it. Shes a great photographer, by the way. Everyone on Facebook loves the pictures of us she snapped. The rooms were so cold. It was great because the weather was 94 out there. Most places want to be cheap and not rake up their air conditioning bill so they compensate with fans but not Ocean Inn. The air was cold. It was so nice that we'd sometimes stay outside and run back in every fifteen minutes to enjoy the coolness. The Ocean Inn gives shower towels and large beach towels to take to the beach. They also let you take boogie boards out there. It was so fun. My boyfriend got a really bad sun burn and the man at the front desk offered us aloe vera and told me to put it in the freezer. So I tried it and it worked like a charm. Every time we'd go in the office and ask for something they'd make sure we got it. I asked for shampoo, conditioner, a recommendation for a good Mexican restaurant. I decided to stay another night and there was only one room left. I was a bit undecided but they held it for me for 6 hours while I decided and gave me a great deal. They also gave us two hotel room keys in case we lost one. We will be back next year and bringing more customers there way. The experience only made the trip a million times better and yes, our vacation would have sucked if we had a bad motel. read more

NO, NO, NO!!! Just returned a few days ago. Place close to the boardwalk but no balloons on the door (as others say), no beach towels (as others say) and no email the day before check-in (as promised). Unfortunately, I was also robbed my jewellery....I called back not accusing anyone, but saying that I may have forgot the pouch in the bathroom. I was told that nothing was found by the staff. Called again a day later and asked to talk to the owner as I do not have my pouch with the jewellery which was left in the room while we were out. There is no safebox in the room and did not even think to hide the jewellery. The owner did not even bother to call back. So, think twice before you book in this place! This place is the bees knees. Stayed on a whim and the price was just right being so close to the water. The main dude there is awesome. He was great through check in and really made my stay that much more enjoyable. The place is a motel and it's a throwback to the places I would stay as a kid. The place is perfect as it is but it's probably not for everyone. Bed is comfortable. I loved the fact there was no carpeting. Just cool cool all around. We just spent a week at the Ocean Inn, a gay owned, everyone is welcome 23 room small hotel just steps from a beautiful beach in Hollywood, Florida. The Inn is an oasis of friendly people, a beautiful tropical courtyard for reading, grilling, sunning and chatting. The rooms themselves are not fancy but they are kept very clean. When we complained that the bed was too soft, Scott, the owner, removed the bed and delivered a brand new bed to our room! Phil took care of our every need. A daily continental breakfast is served, and unlike many places I've been where it disappears before I wake up, they kindly leave it out till 11! The Inn is just 15 minutes from the Ft Lauderdale airport and for us, located perfectly. Close enough to the big cities when we wanted some activities, but away from the crowd for a quiet, beautiful, tropical vacation. read more

This has been the worst experience that I have had at a hotel ever. The check in process was great I will admit and Philip was very nice upon check and he assured me that all we had to do was leave the key in the Box outside of the door upon check out. A few weeks later I noticed that I was charged an extra $50 on my credit card. When I called and spoke with Veronika the general manager she told me it was a smoking fee but then later confirmed with the maintenance person that this fee would be reversed. I explained to her that we did not smoke. I have tried contacting the property and have had no success and having this feat reverse as of yet. I have spoken with Philip several times and emailed back-and-forth. I asked to speak with Veronika and she has not returned any of my calls. Watch out for the extra fees after you check out with this hotel. I would never ever recommend them to anybody. There's a lot of better hotels in the Hollywood beach area then this place! read more

If you prefer a sterile looking, concrete box that has absolutely NO personality and never varies, no matter what state you visit, this place may not be for you. However, if your taste leans a bit towards things unique, eclectic, eccentric, and reminiscent of early Florida, the Ocean Inn is a lodging experience you don't want to miss! Old Florida charm and looks, but featuring modern touches, wireless internet, large flat screen TV with excellent cable, plus fridge & microwave. It's quiet, relaxing and 1/2 block to the beach. Speaking of unique, eclectic, and eccentric, Phillip can usually be found hanging around the office, dispensing advice, historical "facts", sarcastic remarks, and helpful hints regarding where to go for whatever fun activities you seek. I give only 3 stars just because the bed, it was sinking in the middle, I'm the morning i was with a back pain, the proprietor was nice and friendly, room and the bathroom was very clean, even though it was on a main street it was quiet. Block away from the beach, not too far from flicker lite, le tub and gg's. Dont expect the place to be all modern, its not. Its a local friendly place. Even Though i paid for parking it was a hassle. I paid $139 per night, not cheap but not bad for hollywood beach, i will go there again, only if i can get a room with a better bed:) read more

"Whatever happened to this little gem." We stayed there for 2 nights in 2013 prior to our cruise and truly enjoyed it at the time so we decided to stay there again this past February 2017, All I can say is wow, what a change for the WORST. This place as gone downhill big time. By what we were told, this place has new owners. It is the same manager on duty as the last time but he his away most of the time. My wife and I were lucky, we had the room 22 which is spacious and was fairly clean but I can't say the same for the two other couples that were there with us. They were also with us in 2013. Their room was not the cleanest. One of the room which was right beside the office had a blocked toilet. When my friend told the manager, he brought him a plunger and let him unplug it himself. Talk about customer service. The other room ran out of toilet paper so they asked the cleaning lady for more but she didn't have any on stock. She then complained that she was always running out of cleaning products and other accessories. She was even forced to use the coin washing machine as her equipment was broken. The guest BBQ is ready for retirement and the BBQ utensils were quite dirty. The Continental breakfast use to consist of bagels, toasts, muffins, cereals and good coffee which was available from 6:30. This time around, the Continental breakfast consisted of some cereals, a chocolate cake and bad coffee and is only available starting at 9:00 or whenever the manager comes on site. It is truly too bad because this place use to be a great little gem. Hopefully they will turn it around before it is too late but we won't be going there again to find out. read more

Our family of 5 recently purchased a Groupon for a two night stay at the Ocean Inn. The following is an account of our stay. We were pleased to find it located approximately 3 minutes (walk) from a nice public beach/boardwalk. The receptionist was very nice and helpful with information related to where decent places to eat and visit were. The rest of our stay was a mess. For starters the hotel itself seems to be in desperate need of an update. The beds and furniture have seen better days. Overall cleanliness was lacking in several areas. Both beds had visible blood stains on the sheets as well as food items that were left from the last guests left on top of the pullout bed for us to deal with. We had to move a small area rug to pull out the bed and found that a lot gets "swept under the rug" there. There was no hot water. We were told to shower in another room located both downstairs and on the opposite side of the court. Not fun with a wife and 3 kids. We lost power twice. Fist the whole building then our room causing me to find the circuit breaker myself and fix the problem. When we tried to find someone in the morning to speak with about our issues and our lack of water , towels and no toiletries we had found that the staff was not there and it was 9:15 in the morning. The Groupon and website both state that breakfast is provided , we were informed that they no longer serve it . Avoid this hotel like the plague, at least until they clean it !!! read more

Jo greeted us with home made chocolate chip cookies and they were so yummy. I am a great cook and these were awe some! We took the bus to get here, cost effective. LOL. Dropped us off right in front! The number 4 bus is the way to go. We got room #12 first floor burgundy with wicker...so far so good. Clean with a cold A/C! They even had a bottle opener for us in the room. Must be mind readers. I needed one last night for my Acqua Panna water. Walk a half or so mile and you are near "Nicks" popular to eat and other stuff like Ben and Jerry's. Bicycle rentals are $10 for 60 minutes near by but we are deciding to jog instead tonight and to the local market, "Public" and BBQ on Friday. There are grills off the courtyard and they provide all the utensils and propane! I like it so far. They offered us large beach towel and umbrella for sand. The beach is a flip flop walk away. The only thing I wish they had , which I have yet to see...is an espresso maker for the morning. I love strong coffee. I will add pics later. Update: Slept wonderfully the first night. The A/C is perfect and lulled us to sleep. Looking forward to finding a bike rental at B - Cycle ....similar to "Red Box videos." You show up pick up bike and bring it back and we are going for the 7 day rental. At hotel met the staff Pillar and Veronika the manager. Blueberry muffins and cereal with some fruit. I wished all hotels had espresso...we have yet to find a place. But, very happy here. read more

Paid for 3 nights only stayed for two. First night we stayed in #22. The air conditioner was loud and squeaked so did not sleep well. Second night we got in late to find the sheets on our sons futon, luggage and surrounding area were covered with termites. Housekeeping apologized and we moved to a different room. The next morning we checked out. Ocean Inn refused to refund any money, stating "there are no refunds for any reason after 30 days prior to check-in". They offered no apologies when checking out.
