The woman owning this place is extremely unprofessional and insensitive. I recently had a waxing done from her, she did half of my legs and said the other half will be done by her assistant. While her assistant was doing my wax, accidentally some hot wax fell on my thigh, instead of calming me down and making it right for me, she kept blaming that it was my mistake that it fell on me, even if it was my mistake it fell on me she completely ignored m burnt and hurt on my thigh, said I have other clients to deal with and left me to pay to the same assistant. The woman is so insensitive and so disrespectful, all she cared about who was at fault with the wax falling and not to soothe my skin or fix me, I asked for oil to remove and she said I can't give you oil, please put your hands in hot water, zero courtesy zero humanity no professionalism , very poor service and my legs are all red. read more

Do not go!!!! My hair got butchered! Nothing close to what I asked, showed pics and specificallysaid I have been trying to grow my hair out for almost 1 1/2 years and so please just give me a trim and reshape! I got butchered and gas now set me back another 6-8 months to get back to where I was. So upset. Unprofessional and rude and you get to walk away with supposed "hairstylist" saying.." um, it's not too too bad, to fix it, just flat iron it maybe" really? That's my take away? Buyers beware! My 9 year old had a bday party from groupon today here in a sketchy back room. No windows even. Dirty makeup brushes were used on the girls and they tried to use the same red polish over top of the girls already polished nails. Dirty old princess costumes no games besides musical chairs in the dark and a medium Pizza split between 12 kids. They left hungry and with dirty looking faces and scuffed up nails. The 2 women helping were so rough and had no manners. They also sat out front area and ate pizza I am sure was intended for the kids. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!! read more

The service wasn't done thoroughly. I still had to pluck some hairs out myself. My skin also felt raw. I arrived early for my wax appointment and the receptionist wasn't there. I walked around the spa and found no one for 10 mins. Finally, an esthetician came out and said "the receptionist sucks." The spa itself is nice and clean. read more

The old adage was right, "you get what you pay for". I bought a groupon for a mani pedi to try this place out and to get ready for sandal season. The manicurist refused to scrub the dead skin off my feet. Instead, she tried to upsell me on a 'chocolate mask' that she claimed would remove the dead skin. When I declined, she got quite rude. My nails look amateurish and sloppy. There's excess nail polish on the skin surrounding my nails that she failed to clean up. I think I could've done the same quality polish job at home. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Thank goodness I didn't pay full price, or I'd be really upset. read more

My son is 7 and has developmental delays. It's hard to get his hair cut because he can't sit still for very long. He moves his head around a lot and it can be hard to trim his hair evenly. I don't even know where to start with this place other then DON'T GO!!!!! Decided to pamper myself with a facial....that's one of the biggest regrets yet. When asking what products she was using....all I would get is eminence. I have had several eminence facials from different places but this one was one wrong move after another. Upon entering and getting into the facial room (which feels like a utility closet....should have been my first red flag) I got onto the table which also had a minor lean to the right...(another red flag) she comes in and starts my facial....she asks where I get my product from....then argued with me that I can't order any products online (when eminence was the one who told me to order from "the facial room" which I highly recommend) The facial included product over my eyes (which I've never had before) when questioning what products were being put on my face....I wouldn't get told what they were. Left feeling sticky and not refreshed. Got home and my face was a little red (which can be normal after a facial) I then washed off my face with some cold water and a face cloth. Then after an hour I had a shower and more water on my face. Then before bed another cold water and face cloth. Now here's where it gets fun..... I wake up at 630 and my face is burning and itchy and my eyes are puffy and have a hard time opening them. Red and burning and puffy and just super uncomfortable...feels like a really bad sunburn. I keep doing cold compresses and then put on aloe. I wait till the "spa" opens and ask what they used on my face as I'm having a horrible allergic reaction... She proceeds to tell me that I need to email them a picture of my face and then she will send me an email back to let me know what they use on my face... I asked again for all the products that were on my face and she again refused to tell me... Eventually I hung up the phone without any answers..... Things don't get any better....i message "the facial room" and ask for ideas on what to use as the pain isn't going away...... The aesthetician that represents the facial room (Patricia Asmar ) is amazing and super helpful... She gives me different ideas and suggestions... She asked me to call the spa and ask for a facial recovery oil sample... As that would be helpful for my skin... I thank her and call the spa... Again the spa is not any help and they offered to sell me the oil at almost double the cost of what it actually is... I contact the facial room again and she's incredibly helpful... Takes all my information and everything I've gone through to help me move forward... Also allows me to come to her so she can give me things to help. Upon arriving at her place...she informs me that I have a chemical burn on my face which isn't something that would have come from eminence and believes that they used something else on my face.... DON'T put yourself what I went through...the pain and suffering is NOT worth it....please don't go here!!! read more

Got a Groupon for Hair conditioning and colouring costing around 50. Got an appointment on the very same day and when I attended, they notified my hair was heavy (which wasn't even the case), and that they'd charge extra 30 for that. I agreed, expecting a quality service. However, it was nothing as such. Not only did I end up wasting my money and time, my hair got ruined. The "conditioning" made no impact on my hair, thanks to their horribly (literally) quick service, and about the "colouring", it wore out after a wash. One. Single. Wash. I was very disappointed with my visit here. As soon as I walked in.. the place just had an off putting smell. I was told to sit in a waiting room and the chair was covered with old towels. The massage room smelt weird too, and the massage table was very hard and kept making creaking sounds the entire time. The woman massaging me barely massaged me and finished 10 minutes early. And when I gave her a 10.00 tip on a massage that was worth 60.00 (and that she half assed) she didn't say thank you. Will not be going again! Don't go here. The street address is actually 65a apparently. The " Langley Centre " bus has two stops very close to Beauty Mantra. There is good shopping next door, like Save-on-Foods, Tim Hortons and a McDonald's restaurant. I had a successful manicure by a woman near the entrance door. I sat in a big, black , comfy chair. The pedicure was inside a big room, not near the reception area, where the manicure was done. There are about three different Groupon deals, two of the Groupon deals are excellent value. There are approximately five people who work at Beauty Mantra. I only spoke to two women in english. I assumed they were Indo-Canadians who could speak the Punjabi language. I had a massage and facial service. Originally I had purchased it through Groupon, I called and asked to make an appointment and stated I had a Groupon right away and asked if I could book that day, she asked when works for me and then followed up with how they couldn't allow me to book if I had a Groupon as the girls don't want to have too many Groupon clients. I understood that and cancelled my Groupon and they allowed me to use the same deal. I arrived and was set up in a massage room. The massage was nice, there was some delays due to hot towel, having to get the oil from the heating cabinet. After, I moved rooms to receive my facial... Now this is where the service was very weird. She applied the cleanser and started to cleanse over my eyes, I did not like this, plus this is not how it should be done. I patiently was waiting for this to be removed, but she added more, it was seeping into my mouth and into my nose, I felt pretty uncomfortable. She then added exfoliator on top of the cleanser and steamed. I had to ask for a tissue to wipe my mouth and remove product entering my mouth. She than applied the mask, again put it over my eyes. The massage was more of a cleansing motion than an actual massage. Once that was removed she applied my moisturizer by pasting it oddly onto my face. I never got a toner before my moisturizer and when I was done I couldn't see out of my eyes for a couple minutes and needed to remove the product around it. I mentioned this to the receptionist and she talked to me as if I didnt know what I was talking about, I stopped her and told her I am an esthetician and I understand the steps and have worked with the product before. She then took the time to thank me for bringing this to her attention and she would call me after "hearing the esthetician's side of the story" I recieved this service Friday and have not received a call, even though I am not sure what the call would do. read more

Me and my sister took the makeup fundamentals workshop which was supposed to be 4 hours long, but we only got three hours. What the description says and what you get and two different things. I personally thought it was a beauty school, but it is more like a salon. The person who started with our makeup was not bad, she didn't really introduce herself, we had to introduce ourselves. I chose no stars!!! WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Not only did the lady tell me I SHOULD EXERCISE BECAUSE MY LEGS WERE FAT, she told me my private parts werent normal. When I called to book the appointment, I mentioned that I had a Groupon, the manager advised that she wasn't able to do the groupon on that day because they can only have a certain amount in a day. She told me that she would be able to fit me in, refund me the money I paid for the groupon and charge me the amount of the groupon. I repeated it back to her and agreed, not that I fully understood but thought maybe she was going out of her way to bend the rules to help me. When the waxing was finished (by finished I mean, as much as the girl felt like waxing (I'm going to have to rewax, the back of my legs are still covered in hair) the manager told me she is as the one I was speaking to when I booked the appointment, she asked if I remembered that she was going to give me a gift card for the place, I said no, you told me you would refund me the money, then she called me a LIAR!!! I SAID HOW DARE YOU CALL ME A LIAR, she said she couldn't believe I was lying to her like this. I asked if she was the owner of the shop and she said no. I couldn't believe the lack of customer service in that place. I told her that I wanted my grouping honored and she got frustrated and said FINE, GIVE ME YOUR PHONE. She clicked 'use groupon' and charged me the tax. When I asked her for a receipt for my debit payment, she said I can't have a copy. I said pardon me? Then stormed out. I've literally never been more humiliated and treated so poorly. This salon is awful, the staff don't have attention to detail or people skills. I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone. Firstly I need to mention that they used a FILTHY comb and then when I spoke up about it the woman tried to convince me the hair and skin on the comb was from me. THERE IS NO WAY THAT BUILD UP OF BROWN HAIR AND SKIN WAS FROM MY HEAD! I am blonde and have very clean hair. I have been itchy every since. Very disturbing. Secondly my hair looks like it was cut by a 2 year old and they fried it. I walked in with nice hair I just wanted a trim and highlights and I left with fried, chopped hair. It's the worst hair cut I have EVER received. The hairdresser couldn't even brush my hair - she was trying to rip it with the comb rather then gently brush it. I literally had to take the comb away and brush my own hair for her - NO RESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS. When I spoke up about how uncomfortable I was with everything that was happening they got very rude with me and tried to tell me how experienced they are in the industry. Apparently the hairdresser who cut my hair had 13 years experience, SHE CHOPPED MY HAIR - my co-workers are asking what happened to my hair. This is humiliating. They are anything but experienced and their customer service is atrocious. Zero professionalism and they spoke another language around me while discussing my services and discontent which I find to be extremely unprofessional and ignorant. They did not offer any solutions to accommodate the fact I was leaving with awful hair do and feeling terribly ripped off and disrespected. Instead they charged me 60 dollars for my destroyed hair while trying to convince me that is what I asked for. UNBELIEVABLE. I am too nice and shouldn't have payed. So many regrets with this visit. Biggest regret was walking in the door in the first place. do NOT get a Brazilian done here. I have been going here for awhile and had no issues until I took a break from getting Brazilians done for the winter and got my first one of the season done 2 days before I left to Mexico. The lady who took me into the room was new and I had never seen her before. She was VERY rough, and waxing the same place 6+ times over. At first I was uncomfortable, but then I glanced over and saw her wipe the wax on my pelvic area with a stick and CONTINUE to use the same stick in the container of wax!!! When I questioned her upon this she didn't understand what I was trying to say and in her lack of English she tried to assure me she was switching sticks, however I saw with my own very eyes she double dipped and after I mentioned it she STILL continues to dip the same stick in and rub it on me. I was so disgusted I told her to stop. Most esthetician once finished will allow their clients to get dressed and apply the oil themselves in privacy... This lady decided to do it for me by rubbing me BACK to FRONT. This is how you get yeast and bladder infections! I can't believe how sickened I was. Upon speaking to the manager, Raj, she was polite and friendly, and even didn't charge me for my wax, however, awhile back I purchased a 5 pack of waxes and after this TERRIFYING and traumatizing experience I will not go back. I have had a difficult time reaching this company as every time I do, Raj is "busy" and will not return my phone calls. I managed to get ahold of her once to ask for my money back and she said the owner would give me a call in a few days. I never received a call. I keep calling back and nothing. Very very unprofessional business. She told me she spoke to the lady who waxed me when I managed to get a hold of her, and she was telling ME that she told the esthetician "it's okay, don't worry about it". Absolute disgust and disbelief. This is exactly how you spread diseases between clients when you double dip sticks and don't switch the wax between clients. Completely traumatized from this place. Not to mention I spent my next day scrambling to see a bunch of doctors to ensure I didn't have an infection before leaving to Mexico, where I didn't want to be stuck in a hospital there if I didn't check before I left. I couldn't wear any tight clothes or even underwear that wouldn't irritate my bikini area or inner thighs for 3 DAYS until my skin healed from her roughness. After brazlians I am usually okay wishing 6-8 hours but this time it was much much worse. Do not get any time of waxing done here unless you want an infection and a really really painful experience. Update: managed to get ahold of raj who offered me 50 dollars in exchange. I paid 150 for a package of 5 waxes, equaling out to 30 a wax. I have only gotten 2 waxes done which means I should be getting 90 dollars back.... Where did she pull the 50 dollars from? I don't understand. And she wasn't budging with that offer which is very wrong as it is scamming. I would have never gone to a place that charges 50 dollars per wax had I known this would happen. Went with Groupon and it was for single process colour or partial highlights, Asked if I could go to a lighter colour and was told it would be extra for a two process colour. So I say highlights and was told only seven foils. I thought that was to few to even make it worth my while. Then when shown colors I could choose from for highlights there were no colours that were lighter then my colour so I was told to call Groupon and get my money back. Recently moved to lower mainland so had no idea about any good spa/massage centers here, somehow stumbled apon mantra beauty bar while browsing internet, wanted to book a massage session for my sister on her birthday. i checked their couple massage package which was for $300 and then groupon sent me a mail that mantra beauty bar was offering a deal on couple massage for $145(instead of $300). I found it interesting but when i checked the description/services offered, it was completely different from what was mentioned on their website. Nonethless, I called them up to enquire and they said the two deal are not the same which was strange to me. I booked it as I was running late on my sister's bday preparations (my bad). The lady on the phone asked me for my card details upfront which I declined and asked for any IVR services which she said they didnt have and said without the card details they wont be able to book the appointment which I understood and hung up. I again got a call after 15 minutes from mantra saying they would be able to book and I was thankful to them. Next day, Icalled them for directions as I was lost, but the lady was so rude and said just follow the navigation system which i was already doing. somehow we reached, but were 15 minutes late, she asked us to change and took another 15 minutes to start with the massage and did everything in flat 30 minutes(the package said hour long session) and DIDN'T say a word that we were late thats the reason they cut down on the massage time blah blah. It was while I was making the payment and saw the time that was when I realised the service they gave us were for just 25-30 minutes and felt so angry. I enquired and she told that we were late and they had other appointments that why she cut down on the time(we were late by 15 minutes and she cut down 30 minutes from our services). However, to her bad luck the other masseuse was entering with coffee cups and food. There was nobody else in the parlour except we 4. Well, she ruined my bday gift to my sister which is fine now but really why dont these people understand the concept of sustained business and customer retention. Terrible got lashes done as a fill... First off called to book app they said they would contact me back in 5 mins and never called back . Then I called them they booked me in didn't give me an exact price on fill just said 65$ full set .Go in for app the girl tapes my bottom lashes no under eye pad she got glue in my eye kept doing service even after my eye watered non stop and I said it burned she got glue on my eye lid then peeled it off... Not to mention she plucked my grown out eyelashes with tweezers. I should of just stopped her then... My lashes had to be removed and done again by a real professional as they were all stuck together clumped in glue and hurt my eyes .. First and last time at this spa.. I had a groupon which was for mani - pedi. First of all both treatments took a max of 45 minutes.. I have never had a manicure before but know that most places give your hands / arms a massage.. Not Mantra. For about 30 of the 45 minutes there was a toddler crying and screaming. I go to the spa for relaxation away from my children . This was not a relaxing spa at all. The manicure station is right at the entrance of the spa , so all clients coming in pass you and the pedicure station is at the back stuck in the corner by an exit door. As for the manicure / pedicure it was probably the worst I have had. They don't use hot towels and it was like I was rushed to get out. Worst experience ever!!! I was given a groupon and had called ahead to confirm that I could use it for a friend and myself. I was told over the phone that it would be no problem for me to use the groupon with a friend for a mani and pedi. When I got there the owner said I could not use the groupon with my friend and called me a liar when I told her I had called to confirm that I could. Long story short the owner is horrible!!!!
