I'm updating my review with the intention of being fair and constructive. My first visit was…read moregenuinely positive, which is why I felt comfortable returning. During my follow-up appointment, I came in due to significant pain and concerns about a possible infection. While a treatment plan and associated costs were discussed, the dentist did not personally examine me during that visit, and recommendations were communicated through an assistant. I ultimately left still in considerable pain and with noticeable swelling, without having received a direct evaluation by the dentist. For patients especially new patients who are experiencing pain--direct assessment and clear communication from the provider can make a meaningful difference in feeling informed, safe, and truly cared for. I share this with grace and understanding that clinics can be busy, but also with the hope that patient-centered care remains the priority. Patients aren't just numbers and feeling seen and heard matters.

Why can't we give a -100 rating?? AWFUL "business". The other reviews mentioning how he gives you…read moreshots during a CONSULTATION are true. He doesn't explain what or why he does it, just says "I do this for all of my new patients, free of charge". And he'll have you do weird exercises before and after the shots, while you're being videoed. Wtf. I should have left right then, but his b.s. videos on Facebook had me hoping he was a great dentist. He'll talk to you about holistic weird crap, too, with tons of pamphlets to send you home with. Then a woman will walk in and be overbearing about getting a deposit and setting up an unrealistic payment plan on the balance. I was so hoping that he'd be a good dentist, and fix an awful dental issue that I'm struggling with finding good, reliable, affordable dentist for. He was the 4th one I had been to. I gave them almost 2k on my debit card, and the whole amount available on a credit card I had gotten specifically to use towards dental care, and agreed to a monthly payment plan I knew I couldn't afford. The next business day I called to say I had thought it over seriously and just can't afford to go forward with the treatment. Looong story short, I was ultimately told refunds take 30-60 days once APPROVED. I emailed and called both offices many times to try to get my money back because I couldn't afford the interest on a 5k credit card. It's been 2 months and they stopped responding to emails and calls WEEKS ago. Now my calls to both the Rosenberg and Manvel offices are forwarded to a message saying I need to fund my account. wtf??? I can't get through to ANYONE. What kind of business is that?? Don't trust any of them, and don't trust the "office manager" or "account manager" that handles refunds (Brenda). She won't help you, although she sounds sympathetic. She tried to offer me treatment at a "discounted" price twice. Even whoever answered the phone at both offices offered discounted prices. Makes you wonder how much extra b.s. he tacks on to his cost, if they're willing to give discounts so quickly! DON'T go to the "cowboy dentist", you don't want to go through what I'm going through with them. They're crooks, and if you don't believe me look through the MANY bad reviews. ALL of them mention the weird shots, them pressuring you, and not giving your money back. RUN! Also check out UT Dental school. A FRACTION of the cost of even RESPECTABLE dentists.

They are truly redefining the dental experience--transforming what is often a dreaded visit into something that feels more like a relaxing dental spa. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the front desk team and invited to relax in a cozy waiting area complete with comfortable seating, a TV, and complimentary coffee. It was clear right away that every detail of the experience is intentional. During my first visit, Dr. Hemann took the time to really listen, ask questions, and clearly explain my diagnosis and treatment plan. Her calm and caring approach immediately put me at ease. Kirby Smiles clearly understands the common fears and pain points associated with dental visits, and they go above and beyond to make the experience as comfortable and painless as possible. My hygienist, Stacey, was amazing! She made sure I was comfortable with a blanket, a pillow, and even a selection of movies to watch during my treatment. She walked me through every step of the process and even followed up with a call the next day to check on me--something I've never experienced before. The entire team is knowledgeable, patient, and great at explaining things in a way that's easy to understand. You truly feel like they're partnering with you in your dental care. I feel so blessed to have found Kirby Smiles--and I can't recommend them highly enough.

This year, I required three root canal procedures. I selected Dr. Chia Chen Susan Chi, DMD, at Town…read moreCenter Endodontics in Pearland for this treatment. During the initial consultation, the doctor confirmed the necessity of all three root canals. I specifically brought to her attention that one tooth was symptomatic and requested that the treatment commence with that painful tooth. While the doctor acknowledged my request, she ultimately proceeded in an order of her own choosing. The work was completed in the following sequence: the two asymptomatic teeth were treated first. Following the completion of the first two procedures, it was determined that the funds allocated by my dental insurance for the calendar year had been fully exhausted. Given the pain I was experiencing from the remaining tooth, Dr. Chi proposed completing the third procedure, with the stipulation that I would cover the cost entirely out-of-pocket. We discussed the fact that the procedure would exceed the insurance coverage limit, but it was understood that the claim should still be formally submitted to the carrier. Submitting the claim would obligate the office to adhere to the contracted rates established with the insurance company for that specific service. Instead of following the contracted fee schedule, the office requested that I pay the full, unadjusted amount. While it is standard practice for many dental offices to collect the full fee upfront, they typically submit the claim, receive the Explanation of Benefits (EOB), and subsequently refund the patient any overpayment based on the negotiated rates. This standard procedure was not followed by Dr. Chia Chen Susan Chi's office. The office failed to submit any claims to the insurance provider, leaving the insurance company entirely unaware that any services had been rendered. Upon investigating the matter, we discovered two primary issues: 1. **Overpayment on Initial Procedures:** For the first two procedures, we were charged fees that exceeded the contracted rates, resulting in an unauthorized overpayment for both teeth. 2. **Unilateral Pricing on Final Procedure:** For the third tooth, due to the complete lack of claim submission, we paid the full amount demanded by the doctor, which bore no correlation to the established fees outlined in her contract with the insurance company. When my insurance company attempted to contact the doctor's office to obtain the requisite billing information, they were unsuccessful. It became clear that the doctor had unilaterally decided to set arbitrary, non-contracted prices for her services. All attempts to resolve this discrepancy with the doctor's office were futile. The office insisted their prices were correct and claimed to have a "special contract" with the insurance carrier that permitted them to establish their own service fees. However, the insurance company explicitly **denied** having any special contracts with Dr. Chi that would grant her the authority to unilaterally determine pricing. I am documenting this extensive account to serve as a warning to potential future patients of this doctor. This is the first time in my history with medical professionals that I have encountered a situation involving such deliberate deception regarding billing practices. Consequently, we ended up paying nearly **double the appropriate price** for her services.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!! I had a very disappointing…read moreexperience with Dr. Susan Chi as an endodontist. I was initially told that I needed a root canal, which caused a lot of stress and concern. Because I wasn't fully confident in the diagnosis, I sought both a second and third opinion out of pocket, and both confirmed that I did not need a root canal. Additionally, I had a tooth treated, and just two days later it started hurting again. I was then told that I had an infection, which was very concerning--but later I was informed that there was no infection. On top of that, I found the doctor to be rude and unprofessional. I did not feel listened to, and my concerns were not handled with the level of care and respect that any patient deserves. Being advised to undergo an invasive and costly procedure that was ultimately unnecessary is extremely concerning. It also felt like the focus was more on recommending expensive treatments than on carefully evaluating my situation and clearly explaining what was actually going on. Overall, I left feeling confused, unsupported, and uncertain about my dental health. I would not recommend this provider.
