This place does not allow taking photographs. I should probably end the review here but I would not be doing justice if I don't highlight the hospitality at this place - which is nonexistent. The staff tried to put a fake image of being polite but none of their actions say that. Also, they do not alter/adjust the fitting. I'd recommend going online and shopping instead. Unfortunately, Manyavar staff are very unprofessional and the customer service here was terrible as well. My friend and I went with our boyfriends to find outfits for the weddings we're traveling to India for, and the staff only allowed us to try on 3 lehengas each. ONLY 3! Meanwhile, our bfs were allowed to try on as many sherwani as they wanted to try on. I don't know what the heck is up with that kind of customer service when we were actually willing to spend in the $600+ price range but we lost our interest after that and Manyavar lost a $1200+ sale because of poor their customer service. Yikes. TLDR; Ladies, don't shop here. They don't allow you to try on more than 3 items and it's bs. read more

They had no interest in helping us find outfits for my daughter's wedding. This store was recommended to us by 2 local friends, but we found the service to be rude and pushy. We needed several outfits for the bride's father and 2 brothers. We traveled to Houston expressly to shop and were willing to buy everything here. The store looks nice, but as other reviewers posted, you can only try on 3 items each. How does that even work when we needed something for the Puja, something for the Haldi, the Sangeet, the ceremony, the reception, etc.! Arrogant and dishonest people! When I purchased traditional Indian attire from here, they said they do on-site alterations if needed. Now after an event, when I bring it back to the same location they're saying that they don't do alterations on site. Desi businesses on Hillcroft need to learn to be more professional! read more

I understand that Indian stores are unique when it comes to customer service, but these guys were something on the other side of the spectrum. When we entered we were welcomed by 3 different ladies. One of the ladies, literally, followed us, literally! Every where we went, she was with us. We didn't try any of the clothes, because we feared that she would come with us inside the fitting rooms too! The way we were being followed felt like racial profiling. Brown-on-Brown profiling. Did they think we were going to rob them?! Now let's talk about the check out process. After being treated like criminals, we witnessed majority of the staff unable to properly ring us up. It took 3 ladies and a guy to check us on AND on top of that, they gave us the incorrect change back. While we stood there, waiting for the rest of our change, they too just stood there, staring at us like we were some sort of buffoons. After we explained that the change amount was incorrect instead of double checking, one of the older ladies starting protesting. Would you like to guess what happened next? Another lady double checked and, oh wow... we were right! No "oh I am so sorry" were exchanged during this transaction. Would I go back? Doubt it. Highly doubt it. read more

Updated: Talk about great customer experience.. The shoes that we ordered were not available in my partner's size, so the store called to help us pick another pair and ordered it for us. What a great find! A little off the beaten path near/in the Hillcroft area, but worth the drive. Just remember you can't really see it from the frontage road. Keep your eyes open and trust the Google Maps which takes you thru the parking lot to their front entrance. Great selection and wonderful staff. The ladies and gentlemen working there were so helpful and patient. Warm smiles and greetings as soon as you walk in. They made constant recommendations and even advised against certain purchases -- not commonplace in this profession. This was helpful because they have a LARGE selection. You could easily spend hours in the store. I was able to find everything under one roof. Beautiful, embroidered saris for my wife, readymade blouses, Hand sown little purses nice enough for my wife and cute enough for my daughter, as well as clothes to fit my 14 yr old son and my 10 yr old. I was pleasantly surprised to also find clothes that fit me. Since my suit size is 50-Long, I rarely find Indian clothes that fit; usually resorting to custom tailored outfits that take a long time to prep. Not the case here. They definitely had more options for the common sizes, but I was able to find 5-10 that fit me well. The only compliant I have is about the lack of in-house tailors, but the sales staff were kind enough to refer me to 2 'trusted tailors'. The store is clean. The dressing rooms are amply spaced, and the female sales staff were so kind as to help my wife in the fitting area, trying on saris. The parking was convenient & plentiful right in front of the store. And a very nice treat -- the ? Owner brought us some mango lassis from his restaurant adjacently located. A small but much appreciated gesture! I always make sure to stop by when I'm in the area. This is my new favorite Indian garment store. read more

When i asked to use the restroom, I was told it was out of order. I refrained from making any purchases at this establishment. If I could give them a 0 star I would have but unfortunately yelp won't let me. My aunt and I went here to buy a wedding outfit and they assured us that they had a tailor who could come take my aunts measurements and have her bridal lengha ready in two days. Given this promise, we bought something and the tailor messed it up in a way where it could not be ever worn. Bridal lengha was basically made into trash the day before the wedding. We went back to ask what they could do to help us, we were desperate and their customer service was horrible. They said it wasn't their responsibility and their job was to sell the cloth which they did. They were rude, irresponsible and unwilling to do anything to help us. Worst worst experience possible. Do yourselves a favor and go find another shop if you care about your final product and also your sanity. read more

I entered the store searching for a dress for a friends wedding and was honestly pretty overwhelmed after having a horrible experience at another store I went to prior to entering Manyavar. From the beginning, I let the team member know that I had no clue how to choose a dress nor what kind of dress. From there he began educating me about the ceremonies of the wedding and the type of dress for each. He assisted me throughout the entire process; I tried on A LOT of dresses & he kept giving me different colors and sizes until I found the ones that fit well and loved. I am very disappointed with the product, i was given a different dress to try, and they packed a new one for me to take. We went there 4th times. Service was great other than the first and 4th times. The first time, a guy 3x my sisters size told her she's "too fat to look good". This 4th time though, the lady told my sister she was too dark and fat for her to try on outfits. We asked to speak to the manager because we had been told by them that my sister could order items in her size if it wasn't in shop since she is bigger. We were up front with our budget and wanted to spend 700-1k in my sisters wedding outfit. The lady told us "you cannot try on everything" after my sister tried 3 outfits. Literally 3. We were in there 10 mins. We asked her what her issue was and she said my sister was too fat after she had tried and fit into 2 of the 3 outfits. She then kept bugging me, not my sister, to place a purchase order in *my* not *her size*. She wouldn't even address my sister and kept saying she's dark so light/pastel colors won't look good on her. Absolutely disgusting. If you're a little on the bigger size or darker, I would ABSOLUTELY avoid it. Apparently me trying on outfits wasn't an issue (I'm smaller and light skinned),but my sister whose wedding we were shopping for was an issue for them to serve. We came into Manyavar to shop for our wedding. I can't speak to the staff overall, but we worked with Mohammed and he was able to fit my fiancée with an Indo Western suit for our Sangeet, shoes for the ceremony, and a turban to match my sari blouse. Great selections. However, customer service is incredibly lacking. When we walked in, two customers were already there arguing with the manager about how they were lied to and that the store messed up their order. The couple left incredibly upset. That was our first red flag. Thereafter, I found an outfit with a handwritten price tag with the price clearly marked. I even confirmed the price with the sales associate. I liked the piece so decided to purchase. The manager than doubled the price and kept arguing with me on how the price they wrote was wrong. While I can I understand that people make pricing mistakes, the most infuriating thing was that he refused to admit they messed up and apologize for the inconvenience - it's not like I wrote the price.
