They ran it successfully for 12 years. My father had connected with Alex, the owner of the original Book Nook on or near North Decatur/Clairmont, who promised a great variety of around 30,000 books. What arrived instead were massive duplicates -- 30 to 50 copies of the same titles. It was a horrible, upsetting experience that stayed with my father. At the time I was 13 and didn't really know what it all meant -- I just knew he was upset. My father passed in 1981 after chemotherapy and radiation at Emory. Recently, I brought in a large personal collection to the current Book Nook Decatur location -- over 130 albums plus many books, including rare 1940s-1960s sci-fi classics and a signed copy of Miracle in Atlanta. As a longtime collector of coins, books, comics, historic color brochures, and more, I knew the value easily exceeded $500, likely more. I first spoke with the manager on March 25th of this year. He gave a standard percentage quote and left a message. When I returned on March 27th to collect payment, I received just $70. They kept all the books -- which filled the entire counter on the right when you walk in -- and roughly half the albums. I left with two small suitcases. Walking around the store afterward, I saw their selling prices and realized they stand to make a substantial profit. I spoke with the manager (Doogie, like Doogie Howser from the 1980s show) and then with an employee named Scott, who has been there for years. I shared some of this backstory. Scott was pretend friendly and even suggested I didn't really need to write a bad review. That conversation left me feeling extremely uncomfortable, and that discomfort is exactly why I decided to write this review now. The owner is very old (likely in his late 80s or early 90s) and does not come into the store. I felt the manager was dishonest in the way the offer and process were handled. It all felt like history repeating itself in the worst way -- like a scene from Red Dawn: "Avenge me." In the end, I just took the money to be done with it. This isn't just about one low payout. Most people don't know the old story of The Book Trading Post and that first disappointing deal with the Book Nook. Now the full 48-year circle -- from my parents' store in the 1970s to today -- is part of the public record. If you have anything of real value (books, albums, collectibles), think carefully before bringing it here. Get your own realistic expectations and consider other options. P.S. I overheard someone say, "This place is huge" and it is. It is much bigger than you think when you see it from the outside. There are so many twists and turns to explore. We took our time and wandered around. You can easily lose track of time. There are a few staff members up front that will help with any questions. They don't have an itemized inventory but they can point you in the right direction. I would definitely recommend this place.

They have a few shop cats that are super cute and friendly. They do professional tarot and psychic readings here. They have multiple readers to choose from. They also have a lot of fun events. This location is in the Peach shopping center and is conveniently connected to a Starbucks. The magazine section is impressive--huge selection covering just about every interest and hobby you can think of--and the store is laid out just how you'd expect from Barnes & Noble: clean, organized, and easy to browse. I ended up signing up for their rewards program and already have six stamps. On my next purchase, I'll get $5 off, which is a nice bonus.

After a date night out, my partner decided we go to Barnes & Noble to grab some books for our son. What a perfect way to end a date night, imo! This B&N is located in a huge plaza in Buckhead, meaning that there's tons of parking available. There is a Starbucks attached to this location, it's small but there seemed to be some seating. This location is one of the smaller B&Ns that I've seen but they made great use of the space. We started in the children's section of course and they made it such a cute space for little ones! They had a little stage setup along with a bench for seating and extra space for the babes beyond that. The shelves were lined with books of all kind, and even housed some cute stuffed characters from the pages of those exact books. I loved it! There was a wide array of books for children of all ages and a variety of topics. I loved that there was a special section highlighting Black history and culture, as well as a section with books all centered around Georgia! I grabbed a book from each section for our little ATL baby. The bookstore was so clean and so organized, I didn't see a thing out of place. I just wish there was more seating!! I guess they don't want folks getting comfy and reading all the merchandise before they walk out lol. We did find seats near the 'gifts' section which allowed us to go through what we picked up to see what we'd leave with. We ended up with 4 children's books, 1 new book for me and a learning toy for $100. Not too crazy!

It looks small from the outside, but Wild Aster is quite big on the inside. There are many shelves sorted by genres. There is a back area for children. There's also a smaller area for stationary items. There's even a really cool section where the books are all wrapped in brown craft paper (so you can't see the actual book), but a description and genre is written on the craft paper with marker. My wife got me one of these as a surprise for my birthday, and I also bought a book from one of the mystery/thriller shelves. The books are averagely priced. We chatted with the owner, Grace, for a little as well. I believe she owns the bookstore with her husband. He was not there though. She was so friendly! She was letting us know about all the events Wild Aster throws (they throw a lot, so definitely check out their website/instagram to stay updated!), local recommendations around the area, and was giving us insight into how the store came to be and all that. She was truly a delight to talk to! I look forward to coming back here in the future! I LOVE a good bookstore, and this is right in our backyard!!

She is generous enough to be collaborating with me for a book launch in her store for later this year. When I last visited the store, a community group was having a speech pathology class with their group of infants. This is truly the coziest community meeting space. Within her story, she has a fabulous selection of children's books, adult books, gifts, and games, and stationary and cards! If you want a mood boost in your day, simply pop into the store to take a look around.
