My best friend lives in the area and I was in town visiting. She surprised me with a stop to Phoenix & Dragon and it was so magical. The parking lot is on a kind of weird hill but there's plenty of parking spots. The front door of the store opens to a small lobby with a cashier/desk, but the store is actually very large. We were greeted at both the front entrance and when we were in the jewelry/rock room. This is called a bookstore but it's really much more. The selection of books is vast and niche at the same time. I picked up a little astrology book I'm very excited to get into. There is a huge and stunning wall of rocks and gems you can self-service with a variety of types, shapes, finishes and priced at a very accessible level. I picked out several different rocks from the wall. They also have jewelry, candles, accessories, I can't even begin to list everything available here. The best part is the store cats. They are beauty, they are grace and I love them. Also wonderful the Sagittarius that rang up my purchases. I can't wait to come back and visit with my best friend again! I'm a major champion of this place (thanks Dan!) that my partner introduced me to years ago pre-covid era. It's always my go to place. I picked up a few crystal rings and a rainbow obsidian crystal. There was also quite a good selection for books in the LGBTQ section. I got a mothman nonbinary flag there too, but also get this, they had crystal bag satchets dedicated to specific pride flags/identities in the section this time too! The Wiccan area was sadly sparse this trip around :( I was sad. My partner thinks they were restocking but I don't know... I hope that is the case. My partner picked up a candle for a personal use case. You do get points by the way if you sign up, and they are great at looking out for you to spend the points wisely. I had a $10 reward I was able to earn and they split my transaction up so I could benefit from it (thank you!). I've never found another place like this especially in Atlanta or even Georgia of all places. There is more items here that touch all the corners of the earth. They are all very kind, open, and helpful. They also have a newsletter you can have sent to your email that talk about their activities they host, etc. I haven't done those yet, but I do live a bit far. If Phoenix and Dragon were in Midtown? I'd be there multiple times a week. But since this absolute jewel of a store is tucked away on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs it'll have to be a special-occasion thing. I went with my 5-year-old and, while I had to restrain him from touching everything, he absolutely loved it. We got a crystal for our new EV and for his room. The people here are super nice and helpful, and the selection is out-of-this-world great. I'm a huge Nagchampa fan and their selection of incense is amazing. the book selection is legit too. This is one of my favorite places in the world. Every time i come, i usually spend at least an hour, if not two, looking at huge variety. This place has everything a little witchy person could dream of- including cats!! Items are very fairly priced. The staff is incredible, kind and welcoming. Beautiful store! I only came to this store in Atlanta and did nothing else (I came for a job interview) and the selection of tarot cards is incredible! Everything is neatly organized with demo decks available to go through, just a little upset that they do have a lot of oracle card choices just not everything in stock. There is also not multiple copies of one book but I think that adds to the unique experience. I with there would've been more books about chaos magic and spell work (but that's a personal preference of mine) but the range of books is very wide! They also do have an area of books and statues of dietes but don't have a lot of the popular ones like Aphrodite and Lilith. They have a wide selection of crystals and sizes. I live close to this place and have driven past it a bunch of times. Today I finally went in and was very happy I did. The atmosphere here is very calming and peaceful. They have a large selection of books, soap, candles and jewelry and other items. There is even a shop cat which is a plus. The service is great everyone there is so nice and friendly. I overheard a conversation of one of the employees and someone looking to buy some jewelry and the employee was very informative and knowledgeable about the the piece. This store reminds me very much of The Crazy Wisdom Bookstore in Ann Arbor, MI where I grew up. I ended up getting a bar of soap and a wall calendar for next year. I love this place! For me there's a calming effect and a positive vibe in this store. The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable, and are eager to assist. This is not a regular bookstore; It's a retail store full of items that people can use every day to help celebrate the human spirit. I came here on a Saturday afternoon in mid-November to just look for clear quartz and polished black obsidian, to price sage bundles, and to see what other information I could find about how to keep my energy points in my body open and ways to try to stay positive as much as possible. Parking was an issue when I arrived, but I was lucky enough to find an open space in the free parking lot near the front door of Phoenix and Dragon Bookstore. the outside of the building is looks old and plain, and gives no hint as to what's inside. There are multiple rooms/areas in the store that feature different items/products. The first room is where a cash register is and this area looks more like a gift shop. The main room has a very large variety of crystals of various sizes, all of them separated by type and size. This is where I looked for large polished black obsidian, but the bin where it should've been was empty and they didn't have any more. I also looked for a couple of clear quartz crystals, but, at the risk of sounding crazy, I didn't get a clear and positive vibe from any of them. If you're into crystals and what they can do for you, you'll know what I mean. One of the most popular uses of black obsidian is to create a shield of protection to ward off negative or harmful energies. Clear quartz is a powerful crystal with a very restorative and amplifying energy. It's often used with other stones to strengthen their effects, making it a great addition to crystal grids. There are also large selections of essential oils, aromatherapy items, candles, books, herbs and incense, tarot and oracle, gifts, jewelry and knick knacks spread throughout this and the other rooms. I found some sage that I use to purify my condo, and bundles here are less expensive than I've found at other similar stores. Oh, and this bookstore has an area outside where classes, such as Goat Yoga, are held when the weather is nice. While yogis do their yoga things, dwarf goats are free to roam wherever they please, and may hop around, climb yogis' backs, sit on top of them, and even nap on them or their mats while yogis let go of all their stresses. I arrived as the class was breaking upon but there were these cute dwarf goats still walking around on the outdoor deck doing their things. I could actually spend a lot of time in this store. Just be aware that there are at least two very chill cats that roam and laze wherever they please, since this is their domain. It looks like they just have one speed, ALOOF, and remain that way, even when customers lavish a lot of attention on them. I love this store and many of the things it has to offer - helpful and welcoming employees, positive vibe, nice and clean store, and good prices. read more

What a gem! This very large, well laid out store has everything you need for gifts, crystals and metaphysical items. Staff is attentive and kind. I brought my two year old nephew in who is obsessed with rocks and crystals. He was welcomed by the very kind staff. There's even a small children's section where he found a new dragon friend. Super cute New Age bookstore you should definitely check out if you're in Atlanta. I was so impressed by the store's wide variety of books, tarot cards, and workbook for self-improvement as well. It was a nice touch that sample decks were provided so tarot enthusiasts (like myself) can check out what each deck looks like before buying. And the two kitties who live here are an added bonus! The shop is well organized, with crystals and jewelry all in the same area and books shelved according to regions. There is plenty of room for customers to browse peacefully and privately. I absolutely love Phoenix and Dragon. They have anything you are looking for regarding spirituality, religion, etc. I have been to this store countless times to get healing crystals, healing sage. Just recently, I purchased some blended oils: Easy Street aka Money Draw (bc who doesn't want more money) and Come Hither aka Attract & Compel (bc I'd like to share my riches with someone...maybe...LOL). Call me cray cray, but I sprayed the money draw on me before leaving the store on the way to an appointment that I thought would cost me hundreds of dollars, and turns out the treatment is 100% covered by my insurance. Only have a $35 copay. I sprayed the Come Hither in my house, and there was just a calming blend of oils. And it actually helped center me during my meditation. They have a wall of crystals and even crystal bibles, so that you can look up their healing properties. Beware there are cats roaming around the store freely, but they typically don't bother anyone. The store is comfortable from the moment you walk in, and so much larger than I expected. ThoughI was interested in one of the cameos in a locked case, no mater how much I tried to catch the attention of the dark haired woman behind the case, cutting price tags, She was too focused. So disappointed, I've been coming here since I moved to ATL in 2017, I talk very highly of this place and brought my neighbor with me, I was so embarrassed when I talk so highly of the employees and when he asked a question because he was curious about a few crystals the older woman who worked here suggested he buy a book and read it. We were so shocked with how rude she was I feel so bad for taking him here as this is not the energy you want in a shop like this. Another younger woman wouldn't even let me hold the larger crystal to see the other sides of it before buying it. I regret buying it after how we were treated, honestly don't recommend coming here for warm welcoming energy.
