One of the best maple candy makers in Vermont, I highly recommend this place for tourists or buyers for maple candy or maple syrup.

Mehhh the "tour" was closed on our visit and the store feels very much like the "Walmart" of maple syrup products, although the factory is next door and there is a video in the store showing their production process, as well as a lovely lady running the store. Looks like there are a few fun things to do at Maple Grove Farms. For me, I just sat in the shop by myself and ate irregular chunks of maple candy. The older clerks did not care at all. Seriously, I helped myself to a few hearty samplings. Afterward, I bought a lot of maple product. Many of the items were marked down dramatically. I'm not sure how many stars a maple shop should receive? Does four sound about right? If you are within a 45 minute drive to St. Johnsbury, a trip to Maple Grove may be worth your time. I love Maple Grove! It bottles maple syrup from Quebec and puts it into its own bottles. They ship it in in 50 gallon drums. You can see them piled up out back (view from Rt 2). I am not sure why they do not bottle VT syrup. Probally too expensive. What Maple Groves does even better is make and bottle their own brand of salad dressings, pancake and waffle mixes, and maple sugar candy. One can see and buy the dressings in most New England supermarkets. I buy a few now and then. They are not bad. I like to support VT businesses. They offer tours of their factory and have a small sugar shack in front where they have a short film about the maple sugar making process and they sell maple products, and VT arts and crafts. FYI, this is NOT a farm...look for a ugly 1920's communist looking building with a cute sugar shack out front. Located in St Johnsbury on Rt 2 West (Portland St) read more

I grew up eating salad with dressing from Maple Groves! I LOVE the Sweet n Sour dressing which has a tomato and maple syrup base! Absolutely delicious without being over powering. Since I live in Chicago, I could not find that flavor here-but ordered 3 bottles at a reasonable price from amazon.com...I just found out that you can also purchase this on the Maple Groves web site too. I'm gonna be generous and rate the place based on syrup only. I won't talk about the large folks who work there or the run-downish looking buildings. I also won't mention that I gave a big smile, hello, and wave to someone who I thought was an employee upon entering (because she was fiddling with the merchandise and wearing a vest...) and then it turns out she was a fellow patron who took my overzealous greeting as a cause for alarm and avoidance. I will say that I bought a bottle of "Northern Comfort" which is basically some syrup in a SoCo bottle and some maple candy for a little blind impromptu taste testing. read more

I was on a short weekend trip to VT and came across Maple Grove Farms which is a nice little stop to make if you are in the area. There is a gift shop with all kinds of maple syrups and samples and other nice things to buy. You'd think since they are in VT that the syrup would originate in VT but they tell you in a short video that it comes from all over. read more

Four stars for the educational museum exhibit. Two stars for the shop. Soft serve machine is defunct; no maple creemees here. There are a lot of souvenir options, but this is the brand that you find everywhere. It's nothing special. read more

My mom, who is a senior citizen, was in visiting from out of town, and spent over $125 in the gift shop. She was treated EXTREAMLY rudely by customer service person MG. Almost to the point that she was shaken. Mom was in the year before and had such a great experience and wanted to go back, NEVER AGAIN! unless they get friendlier customer service staff. read more

This is not worth the stop. Maple Grove Farms does not produce Vermont Maple Syrup but instead "Maple Products." The gift shop (which is what this place mostly is) is overpriced on most items. There is a small fake maple sugar house on the property but it has equipment from an old Maine sugar house. This place does not even offer a tour of their facility. The only reason we stopped was my wife wanted to try a Maple Creemie (maple flavored soft serve ice cream). read more

Been buying their Fat Free dressing for a while now. Keeps a healthy salad healthy and makes salad something you want to eat, not something you have to eat. I think Caesar is the best and pour it on traditional greens, sliced tomatoes, even used it to marinate salmon. Now they just came out with a new flavor, Asiago Garlic. Had it on something 5 days in a row now. I think that is #1 now. Other favorite is Balsamic Vinaigrette. Have also tried Lime Basil and Greek but didn't care for either. read more

I am a local and surprisingly never go into the gift shop! I went in last month for some things to send to a friend in Africa, the staff was amazingly helpful and they had such a huge variety to choose from! I even got to taste test the maple candy! Great place to go! read more
