They offer DISCRIMINATORY SERVICES, as their laser resources are not able to accommodate various skin types and colors. Their business communications regarding my customer feedback around the unpleasant client experience were unprofessional. After reviewing GetLazed's business materials on their website and recommendations for being a "good candidate" for laser hair removal, I made an appointment. I arrived at the office and within less than 30 seconds of meeting Dr. Steven Morgan, he tells me that he is unable to treat me because my skin is too tan. I explained to him that I have received laser hair removal treatment before when I used to live local to NYC (so I know it's possible to accommodate various skin tones). He told me to look up places that have YAG Lasers as they can treat darker skin, or call the place I went to previously and find out what type of laser they use to find a place that offers this laser service. He was dismissive and did not offer any recommendations for other doctors or service provides in his network that I may be able receive treatment from. (What savvy business owner isn't aware of his competition?!) Furthermore, I message GetLazed to express my concerns around the unpleasant experience I had in their office. Rather than being receptive and open to the feedback, they responded with disdain. They indicated that I "spoke very well" however "did not read and comprehend" their business communications on their website and text messages. As a person of color, these are blatant microaggressions and microinsults. Their website also says: "Our laser will perform on skin types I-IV; IV Skin Type = Brown Skin Color; typical Mediterranean caucasian skin." It's also safe to say that "brown skin color" is indeed darker than "tan skin color," so the language on their website needs to updated to speak to the actual skin tones/colors they CAN service. The doctor also mentioned they have been in service over 15+ years, so I suggested it would be great to see their biz evolve with the times and attain laser resources that can accommodate all types of skin tones in order to broaden their scope of service offerings. In response, GetLazed stated: "it is not cost effective and/or affordable to purchase a laser to treat additional skin types," indicating they have ZERO intentions of looking to improve/better their business practices. It's obvious GetLazed and Dr. Morgan would like to stick to the "niche" clientele and demographic he looks to treat...light/white skin tones. Interestingly enough, they are ok with optimizing on dark/black faces in their marketing materials (aka on Facebook) but are not willing to secure additional laser resources that would allow them to treat tan/brown/black skin tones because it's "too expensive," although their website indicates they are able to treat "brown" skin tones. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME on this segregationist brand. Book elsewhere and save yourself the embarrassment of experiencing modern day Jim Crow chauvinism & attack from the business owner like I did. Apparently "equality" for treatment & services is an "agenda."

I walked into this salon as a new customer expecting a professional, welcoming experience, and I left in tears--completely humiliated and taken advantage of. First, I specifically asked for a slight face frame. What I got was a choppy, uneven mess that looked like a botched DIY job. When I went back to see if anything could be done, the manager (a woman with red hair) not only looked at me like I was crazy but also gave me dirty looks the entire time, making me feel completely uncomfortable and unwelcome. Instead of offering any solution, she dismissed me, acting like I was the problem, claiming my hair "looked that way" because I straightened it too much. Second, the pricing was misleading and deceptive. Before booking, Paige told me via DM that a full head of highlights would be "about $200." Never once did she mention that because I have thick hair, I'd be charged $20 extra per additional bowl of product used. So my "about $200" service suddenly became $260--without warning. When I questioned the manager about this, asking if I should have been informed beforehand, her response was, "Well yes, the stylist should've informed you about that. I'll have to talk with her privately about that." Oh, okay--so it's totally fine to just take an extra $60 from me after the stylist herself told me it would be around $200? Absolutely unacceptable. When I asked for a refund, I was completely dismissed. Not a single person offered a solution or any sympathy. Instead, they gaslit me into thinking my hair "looked good" and that maybe someone else could try and angle it more for me. The cherry on top? When I asked to speak to the owner, I was told there was no way to contact her--not even an email. I was just supposed to wait and maybe she'd get back to me. On top of all this, the entire atmosphere in the salon was unprofessional and uncomfortable. The employees were having inappropriate conversations right in front of customers, making the whole experience feel awkward and unwelcoming. I wouldn't have even mentioned it, but after being completely dismissed and scammed out of $260 for an absolute mess, it just adds to the overall terrible experience. I grew up in a salon atmosphere--my aunt owned a salon for over 20 years, and never once did I see an unhappy customer be turned away and humiliated the way I was. A real salon that values its customers takes responsibility for mistakes and makes sure people leave happy. Instead, this place just gaslights you, takes your money, and treats you like a problem rather than a paying client. I left the salon crying and humiliated. I immediately went down the road to Boho Hair Salon in Asbury, where the stylists were stunned at how terrible my cut was. Unlike this place, they actually cared about fixing the disaster on my head. They were kind, empathetic, and offered me an appointment ASAP. As an Asbury local who works in the service industry, I know how important good customer service is. I never complain, I never send food back, and I've never made a fuss over bad nails or anything else. The one time I do go back to an establishment to have them acknowledge a serious mistake, I get dismissed, belittled, and basically told to just live with it. This salon is unprofessional, rude, and lacks any sense of accountability. They take your money, don't disclose their real prices, and then gaslight you into thinking their mistakes are your fault. If you value your hair, your time, your money, and basic human decency, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

It might be a little more expensive than other salons, but it's worth it to me. To be honest I moved 40 mins away and tried going somewhere local to my new house and the girl wasn't able to execute what I asked for and I ended up making an appointment back with Robin that very afternoon to fix it. The staff is not currently wearing masks but my hair stylist (Shellie) is always willing to put on a mask for me. She has gone out of her way to reassure me she is fine with the request. I am an old, type 2 diabetic and despite being vaccinated and boostered for covid I still prefer to err on the side of caution about masking. I like that Shellie always checks how I want my hair done. I always like the results of my hair appointments. Shellie also did an amazing job on my daughter's hair for prom.
