We stopped in Carthage on our way back to St Louis from Tulsa. We were looking for a coffee house and the nearest one didn't open until 8:30 am. WHAT? So we tried Maple Leaf. Really enjoyed it. The young woman who took our order suggested the Maple Leaf latte (normally I get vanilla). It was SO delish. I ordered a sausage egg breakfast sandwich (she suggested a side of maple syrup for dipping). YUM. My boyfriend had hot chocolate and a cinnamon roll. Everything was tasty. One of our favorite coffee spots. They have good coffee but the special thing is their awesome food and ambiance. We love coming in and relaxing with our coffee and delicious crepes or sandwiches. The staff is very nice and it's really cute inside. My only tip... If you're in a rush, order ahead of time if you want it to go because no one's in a big hurry there. read more

Traveling thru Carthage, and this was the only local coffee shop I could find. The shop on the square had closed and was a dog grooming business now. I'm very particular with my coffee. While I didn't specifically ask about their beans or when they were roasted, the coffee was excellent. I usually get a half sweet vanilla breve at new shops so if their beans aren't great, the burnt/stale/etc flavor is muted. The drink was delicious, and I would definitely try an Americano if I'm ever back there. I also got a breakfast burrito crepe, which was honestly probably the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. I went back the next morning on my way out of town, but they are closed on Sundays. The previous day, I had noticed what seemed to be a small church group in the center of the shop. While that is a coffee-shop pet peeve of mine (study groups, business meetings, etc), they were not overly loud or taking up too much room. My suggestions to the shop would be as follows: vent hood for the smoke from the crepe griddles and open for at least limited hours on Sunday. read more

Pros: the prices are lower than Starbucks. Cons: they are slow ( it took 10 minutes to get my drink and there were only 2 people ahead of me), no social distancing, no one but me had on a mask, and if you are not a regular they are not that friendly. There are better places to get coffee with more choices. I will not come back. read more
