Delish! Worth veering off I-44 for breakfast/lunch. Food was hot and delicious. Extremely kind staff. Clean and unique little place. Kids LOVED it and Wifey loved it even more. Pancakes are big and fluffy. Bacon is not soggy but not burned crisp. My daughter ordered an iced coffee and it was worth it. Impressive presentation and 'extremely yummy' according to her. First the good; neat place, nice waitstaff, and a good location and now the disappointing parts. I stopped for breakfast, and it wasn't good. The hashbrowns were from a frozen package and too well done and dry. The sausage was good but overcooked. The eggs were fine. The biscuits and gravy were both "store bought" and not good store bought. They were the real miss. I expected something different from the previous reviews and what I got was basically what I could have had at IHOP and not prepared as well. We split the everything omelette with hashbrowns and a pancake. They ask if I wanted peanut butter for my pancake that's a yes. Came out within five minutes. This is an adorable diner with a classic diner atmosphere. They even have old school brown coffee mugs lol. I drive by this place often, but I'm not a morning person and they're usually closed by the time I'm thinking about food. Today I stopped in for some togo breakfast and was greeted by the lovely Jennifer who was super helpful and so so nice. I ordered the all meat skillet with the biscuit on the side. It took less than 5 minutes to get my food and it was delicious. Just the food I was hoping for this morning; the eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash browns were crispy. Daughter wanted a good old fashioned traditional breakfast so where else do you go but the place that was voted the best in four states. I opted for pancakes which were HUGE. Two was more then enough. The pancakes came with heated syrup and lots of butter. I also chose a side of bacon which came with 4 slices. Husband and daughter had cooked to order eggs, hash browns, toast and bacon. All of us enjoyed our breakfast and it was just what we were looking for. Well back again after a few yrs. Hanging around Joplin last nite and today maybe. I opted for the same breakfast again ham n eggs poached. ( they were a bit overdone for me but I ate em.). Pancake was awesome too. Bf as usual Greek salad. But it's just not enuf for hi. So he got a hamburger steak with grilled onions on top. Wow it smelled great. He loved it. Took a drive from Springfield, to view the snow covered landscape. Got hungry near Joplin and decided to find a non-fastfood place to eat. Driving down Main St, we found Norma's Diner. What a jewel this is. Fun place, great staff and delicious food. Catfish, chicken fried steak and Philly Cheese Steak. Our only disappointment was that we wanted a pie to take home and they we all out of the one we wanted. Everyone should go eat at Norma's Diner. :) read more

Stopped in for breakfast with my daughter and wife while in town watching some basketball. Cool looking location - outside is not much, but the inside and the tables may it look like an old time diner. Waitress was very friendly and our food came very quickly after we ordered it - still steaming hot. I had the bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast. I ordered extra crispy hash browns -- they were perfectly cooked for my tastes. My daughter got the same thing and thought it was very good. My wife got the pancakes with bacon. Pancakes were good and fluffy. Drinks are large - I had orange juice and my daughter had chocolate milk. All and all a good diner for a traditional American breakfast. read more

My husband picked this out because of the stellar Yelp reviews. We were pretty excited and it seemed busy enough which is a good sign. I checked in on Yelp when we were seated and was surprised to discover a coupon pop up for a free coffee with purchase. When I asked out server about it she was pretty snippy and said they don't honor that stuff and they're not on Yelp. Ok, that's fine but you don't have to be rude...I'm only inquiring. I've never had a business turn down a discount that's popped up on this app especially something as minute as a free coffee (I only drank one cup). Anyways, we ordered the basic eggs, bacon, hash browns, etc. It came out fast which is great but this was one of the blandest meals I've ever had. They literally threw frozen hash browns on the griddle and cracked an egg. I almost never have to add salt as I season my food as I cook and I had to add so much salt and pepper for any sort of flavor whatsoever. It was so disappointing. I have to honestly say... I was not expecting this. I read some of the reviews and thought I'd like this place enough, but not enough to care... man was I wrong. We stopped in here for brunch while visiting family in Joplin based on the reviews I read on Yelp. When we pulled into the parking lot we really didn't think much of it... I mean, it's obviously a greasy spoon type of place, but the outside exuded the very 70's truck-stop diner you would expect to see in the middle of nowhere on Route 66. Whoever Norma is, she certainly is not a decorator. The outside blended it's way into the very dated interior. But I'll be honest, this review has nothing to do with the elderly yet plushy booth we sat in. The food here. O-M-G. If you are coming here expecting it to be some sort of light-fare fine dining experience you are in the wrong city. This is heavy, greasy, cooked with lard kind of food ladies and gentlemen. The butter on the toast has the flavor of grease and the consistency of oil, the eggs drip fat, and the skillet of food that I ordered was without a doubt the heaviest thing I have ever eaten in my entire life.. and I loved every freakin second of it. I got the Gyro Skillet (with Tzatziki on the side), the sister got the veggie skillet, the fiance got french toast with strawberries slathered all over them. What came out of the kitchen looked nothing like the pics in the menu... they were HUGE. The skillet was a mound of meat and veggies swimming in sizzling grease with two eggs haphazardly thrown on top and two piece of toast on the side. It was a real struggle to get it all down due to quantity, but I knew it wouldn't keep in the fridge (it would have congealed into one solid mass). When we finished up we totaled out, sealed our unbelievably good breakfasts for under $9 a person including drinks, and waddled our much heavier selves to the car. Norma's is a MUST if you are in Joplin and you don't care about fitting into your outfit the next day. The food is amazing, the service was great, and the price is fair! read more

I had heard so much positive about this restaurant, & I was really looking forward to trying it. Maybe I just caught them on the wrong day, or maybe it was because it was a holiday weekend. For whatever reason I was pretty disappointed. The oatmeal was like water, very thin. When my hash browns were delivered to the table, they were stone cold. The other food ordered at my table was hot and tasty. The service here was courteous, but not what I would term as friendly. Some of the seating was torn and broken down. Dining room definitely needs some repairs. Overall, I was disappointed but would probably try it again just because I have heard so many positive comments about this place. read more
