Gift and specialty shop in Niagara-on-the-Lake [ON Canada] I found plenty of affordable, cute items here to gift back home. It was a good thing they were decently priced because as I started to count my fingers on how many family members and co-workers I wanted to buy gifts for they started to add up quickly. When I try to turn up... my wallet says hold up! LoL! They had the most amazing selection of fudge, so many flavors including the Ice Wine fudge... I did not buy any, I was afraid of my sugar skyrocketing. but, wait! they have more than just fudge. They sold Maple products too from pure maple syrup to maple cookies to maple flavored coffee and more! Purchased a few of those maple syrup in the maple-shaped glass containers. So cute! Btw, their homemade fudge are made in copper kettles, the old fashioned way. The ambiance was the aroma of fresh fudge. I tried the ice wine chocolate and bought a bar. Ice wine is a dessert wine made from grapes frozen on the vine. Really good! It was fun looking around this shop. Great service! The fragile items I purchased were wrapped individually very carefully. If I ever return to Toronto I'll be making my first stop here and the store next to it (or was it two doors down?). My Toronto friends insisted on visiting this store, saying they have the best fudge ever, and there are always samples available. Did someone say samples? lol So in we went. The samples were tiny but divine. Of COURSE we had to buy some fudge! (This is a VERY DANGEROUS store). I chose half a slab of the maple fudge and half a slab of the cookies and cream fudge. Both were amazing but the maple was really phenomenal. I also got some large caramel blocks, half of which were enrobed in dark chocolate, and the other half in milk chocolate. (I gave these as gifts but was told they were fabulous). In addition to the many, many flavors of fudge that they make in-house daily, they also have lots of other sweet treats: jars and jars of gummies and penny candies and chocolate raisons or nuts, hard candy sticks in all sorts of flavors and colors, hard candies in decorative tins, licorice and All-Sorts, etc. I felt like a kid in a candy store here. They have the best fudge, especially the Chocolate-Orange Flavor. I have only found this flavor in one other shop, and it was terrible compared to Maple Leaf. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to satisfy every customer's needs. I used to look forward to my trips to Niagara Falls, but now you can order from them online, so I can enjoy their product all the time. I first found them back in 2003, and every time I purchase more, it's just like the first time. I'd give TEN STARS if I could. read more

Love Love Love! This place, When ever I'm in this part of Ontario, I stop in for fudge so many to choose from. My personal favourite is chocolate with walnuts but they were out(with a fresh batch incoming), and I had little time to spare so I opted for Turtle. I can now say I've had every option, and they are all equally great! A taste for every palate in my family. And my sweet tooth is extremely picky. A small store though they have lots of fudge on display along with peanut brittle and other candy. Each fudge piece is $6.50 and they have a deal where you buy 3 and get one free, but how many people want to get 4 pieces? They should make it, buy 2 and get one free. We went with the chocolate walnut and it was super sweet, but a bit too hard on the outside. It needed more walnuts as well. read more

I first went to this fudge shop many years ago and thought it was the best fudge I had ever had. Well all things change and sometimes not for the best. I got the 3 with 1 free. I got the butter pecan, praline, chocolate, and the vanilla. Butter pecan was ok, praline not as good, chocolate is dry, and the vanilla is too moist and taste like plastic. A friend of mine is originally from the area, so when she found out I would be up this way she told me I HAD to go to Niagara on the Lake and that I HAD to go to Maple Leaf Fudge. When I finally arrived to Queen Street (which is more adorable than I can put into words), I happened to find a parking spot right in front of Maple Leaf Fudge. The shop is super cute, and full of candy that will send anyone into a diabetic coma. The selection is great - a nice mix of real fudge and pre-packaged goods, in addition to maple syrup, cookbooks, etc. - and I managed to do all of my "souvenir" shopping for my office and my Canadian friend all in one place. The prices seemed alright, but I really wouldn't know since I don't eat fudge. The staff was hit or miss - one woman told me what their most popular fudge was, but seemed very disinterested in helping me further and walked away. The other employees were alright, and the cashier was friendly enough. They do take US and Canadian dollars (as well as credit cards), so if you didn't convert your money like I failed to do, you'll be fine. The most lovely fudge you'll ever try. Thankfully I'm not close or I'd never be able to work off the extra calories! Lovely yummy fresh melt-in-the-mouth fudge plus lots of other lovely sweet confectionery-type goodies such as peanut brittle. Your dentist will be getting lots of extra work. Service is OK if not always bright and it is OK on the speed though sheer volume of traffic through the store looking to buy makes this a bit of a longer ordeal than other shops. Great fudge but I didn't care for the attitude. We had settled on two types and we were interested in more. However we decided if receiving any type of friendly service was going to be short of drawing blood out of a stone, we cut that short :( Too bad. This town obviously thrives on tourism and this store seems to be the exception. One suggestion I would have for this business would be to find out what the customer likes to recommend different flavors. Maybe be a little more focused on customer service by adopting a more open friendly demeanor. You want the customer to explore your store's products, not make them feel unwelcome. read more

Stopped in for maple candies to take home and they had a great selection, so much more then fudge. They had ice wine candy, teas, and everything maple. Sampled the bacon fudge and it was yummy! Fantastic fudge! They had samples out for you to try various types. They also let you sample as many as you wanted. I could have easily satisfied my desires by the samples but bought some to go. The chocolate with nuts, chocolate/peanut butter and white chocolate blueberry were my favorite. Definitely worth going. They charged $5.59 for a large slice and if you bought 3 the 4th was free. My first brush with fudge was in this shop a number of years ago, and I've been a fiend ever since. I returned to NOTL this past weekend with some girlfriends, and made note that I HAD to stop by this store for some fudge to bring back home. I opted for the "buy 3 get 1 free" option. Each slab is around $6, but you can get half-slabs to take home more flavours, which is great for indecisive people like me. I decided on a slab of chocolate and pralines & cream, and half slabs of the turtle, rocky road, double chocolate, and chocolate peanut butter flavours. I've sampled a bit of them all, and my favourites are still the chocolate and chocolate peanut butter - both were perfectly creamy and delicious, albeit very sweet. One star off because I was kind of disappointed with the quality of some of the other pieces I bought - a couple of them were old, and nearly rock hard (basically inedible for fudge). Could be my fault for not sampling first, but a place that focuses on fudge should know when to not sell a piece to a customer. Also found the pralines & cream to be much too sweet for my liking, on top of being a rock hard piece - steer clear! read more

The wife and I wanted to check out this store and the moment we walked in we were literally kicked out. The rude old woman behind the counter told us we weren't allowed inside the store and to wait by the door if we were picking up an order. We didn't understand why and then clicked that it there wasn't any in-store shopping allowed. The worker didn't tell us that but rather rudely and basically, told us to leave. If she had informed us in a professional and kinder manner I wouldn't be so upset. But to say that to me and my family when my child is there I will not stand for it. There were no signs stating in-store shopping wasn't allowed or that it was online pick up only. This woman needs to work on her customer service skills. I don't care if this pandemic has people getting upset but you're at work; keep your personal problems at home. A lesson or two on how to treat people wouldn't hurt. read more

While I have sampled their fudge many times, and thought they do an excellent job, I have recently become a fan of Scandinavian licorice, and was surprised to see their selection. The pralines and cream fudge was delicious. I wanted to make chocolate chip cookies but replace chocolate chips with chunks of the fudge but I ended up eating all the fudge before I could make the cookies. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely stop in. read more

This is the only fudge I've ever liked. Since I moved to California I have to get it shipped here by relatives once or twice a year, and no matter how many bars they send the fudge is gone within 24 hours. I hope they bring back chocolate marshmallow without nuts because those were my favorite. Since they stopped making it I have to buy Rocky Road and pick the walnuts out:) No one makes fudge better. I visited in February, and bought a lot of fudge for gifts. When we got the fudge home later that day and tried some, we were disappointed to find that each one was rather hard and dry -- not the lovely, fresh, creamy pieces I was looking forward to. We couldn't eat it, and wouldn't give it as gifts. I would have returned it for fresh product were it not a three hour drive to do so. I guess that's the risk when buying in the off-season.
