Holes taped in the wall, stains in the furniture. Toilet had a hard time flushing, paint peeling, sink had been split in half, and was siliconed back together. Pulled back the sheets on the bed closest to the door and found a large black hair and yet another cigarette burn in the fitted sheet. Pulled it back a little farther, bed bug running for the cover of the sheets. Quickly snapped a picture then squished it. Verified by researching the bug in detail. Shaped as a apple seed, same markings. We packed up quickly and removed all our items. I brought the bug to the hotel manager and he argues with me saying it wasn't a bed bug. I showed him the pic and he denied it again! He offered me another room, but we obviously had no interest in staying. He told me he wouldn't refund the whole cost. We were literally there less than 20 min. They did end up refunding most of the cost. I would recommend going 30min to Pittsburg,KS and staying at a large chain hotel.

I am a very easy goi g person and have had to stay at some very shady hotels before, but as of…read more7/14/23 i must strongly advise avoiding this hotel, it is nasty to put it as nicely as i can. the manager was very appologetic, but stated no matter how much he kept after his cleaning staff they would not do the job right. the rooms i was either assigned to or looked at, were very dirty and run down, all of the rooms i was shown stunk, but one room smelled like a very neglected litter box for a cat. Crumbs in the bed and a dead cockroach in the bathroom do make it very hard to be tolerant and had to request a refund which i have not seen to have been returned to my card as of 07/17/23. The manager said he has people who request on of those rooms specfically, but i dont know how or why anyone would request any rooms there!! Personally this property i feel should be condemned and dismantled! Again i would strongly advise avoiding this property and going elsewhere for your own health and safety.

I can't say "splurged" because it cost little more than an average hotel room, and the cooked-to-order homemade breakfast was much better than you'd find in a hotel. Sherri and Jeff are incredibly gracious and intuitive hosts: there when you need them, but otherwise, they let you be. The porch alone of this rambling abode is larger than some San Francisco apartments, and every window of my room looked out upon lush greenery. I slept well in the big bed and thoroughly enjoyed the historic feel of the Himmel House. Couples will love this B & B, and business travelers take heed: a place like this is a welcome break from hotel life. You won't regret staying here.

He greeted us personally and gave us what he called the "nickel tour," walking us through the property and sharing its story. That personal touch set the tone for the entire visit. We stayed in Room 15 (King bed), and the extra space made the stay especially comfortable for the two of us. Clean, cozy, and perfect for a one-night getaway. We didn't get to experience the spa or additional amenities this time, but if the hospitality is any indication, we'd happily return. With Joplin only 15 minutes away, you're not going to starve. Compared to other casinos/hotels, Downstream is left a bit lacking. I know this may sound weird, stating you didn't want to gamble in a casino, but this place is a convention hub. So they could add something to accommodate the variety of tastes of visitors.
