I don't even want to give this place 1 star. I went in for a cleaning that my insurance covers in full but they didn't do a regular cleaning today because they said I needed the deeper cleaning that would have cost me $800.00. Last year the dentist insisted I needed an emergency root canal, and that if I did not have the procedure within the next week, I could lose the tooth. I followed my gut instinct and got a second opinion at another office. Sure enough, I was told the procedure was not needed, and certainly not an emergency. Beware! Last year my filling was done so terribly that it fell out the same day. It was redone but felt odd, and even though they forced me to sign up for the online check in in order to have an appointment, they never responded to the message I sent. I've switched to a new dentist. Now, a year later My filling has deteriorated and now needs to be replaced and has decay underneath. So they had two chances to do a correct filling and failed both times. Not only did it fail, the process itself for the original filling was painful, stressful (because at the end I couldn't bite down properly so I had to keep asking her to fix it) and it took over an hour. Other reasons I can't recommend this dentist office: Every time I have a new dentist that I like, in 6 months they are no longer practicing at the same location. The last time I went, I was required to sign up for mysmile in order to check in. (I'm in the office, can't that be a check in?). Last time I went they sent me three confirmation messages about my appointment but when I got there I didn't actually have an appointment at that time. That was frustrating to say the least. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Shah for years. I've had pretty healthy teeth... but at last I needed my very first crown... I shake when I go to the dentist, so thinking about getting a crown was somewhat frightening to me. As soon as I walked into the door, Courtney, the awesome Benefits Coordinator, made me feel at home. She is so knowledgeable when it comes to my dental insurance. She is my go to person when it comes to financials. She has always provided me with +A service! As for my same day - 2 hour crown... what can I say? But Dr. Shah is an amazing dentist. He made me feel so comfortable and walked me through everything . He has the most gentle hands and made everything so painless. I would highly recommend Dr. Shah as your Dentist - 1. for his extensive knowledge and expertise. 2. for his performance during treatment. 3. for his chair side manner. My first experience with this dentist: I received a call on the day of to cancel my new patient appointment. I rescheduled roughly 3 weeks later. Today I received a call advising me that there was a "glitch" in the system and that they could no longer honor my appointment date and time because they "gave it away" to someone else. I find this completely unprofessional and an interesting way to make a first impression! If this is the standard way of doing business with this dentist, I'll pass! Interestingly when I advised that I would seek an alternate dentist the response was ok and then a "click in my ear." Not once was an apology given due to their "system error", not once were alternate times provided...just all around bad customer service. read more

I had multiple meetings with Modern Dentistry (a chain dentist office). They were decent the first meetings I had with them, but then the wheels came off the wagon, an endodontist, that I had 3 scheduled meetings with, quit right when we supposed to come up with a plan of action. He eventually quit, which I don't blame him, then I tried to schedule a transfer appoint with their other Endodontist which proved to be a horrible experience. They first scheduled me to meet in Issaquah but had no follow up on the appointment being scheduled. Then I had another appointment scheduled with them in a location that was a way out of the way distance wise. But I was in pain and needed to get some movement, since I potentially needed a root canal and more. After spending 40 minutes getting to the appointment, in the middle of my day.... Very hard since I'm single household income earner on top of it, family of 3. I got there and the door was locked. I called the scheduler, she asked me to hold, and then popped back on and told me they tried to get a hold of me, That was an outright and that the dr. hadn't been able to make it in that day. I was irate at that point. I had received no email, call or text. No voicemails had been left. I would never use them, no entrust them to take of my teeth. Scheduling appointments and having follow up on cancellation is part of everyone's daily routines. If they can't do that, how can they work on teeth. I was shocked that this was the service I got. 3 weeks later I haven't even gotten apology or a follow up. Thank you for the worst customer interaction experience I have ever had. read more

Went to Maple Valley Modern Denistry on 14 September 2018. They took my insurance infromation and came back to me that it will cost me 17.00 out of my pocket to get my teeth cleaned. I told them I have never paid to get my teeth cleaned. I told them I wanted a basic teeth cleaning and they said again it will cost me 17.00 I paid the 17.00 since i had to wait almost 3 weeks to get an appointment. October 2018 i get a bill from them saying i owe 50.00 more for my teeth cleaning. THIS PLACE IN NOTHING BUT A SCAM. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NO ONE. read more

I was seen here today to get my wisdom teeth taken out. The receptionist named Courtney was extremely warm with every phone encounter and correspondence leading up to my surgery, whether it be any question I had or talking about my medical history. I was looking forward to making this clinic my new dentist office. That is, until today. I had made it very clear in my health history that I have extreme anxiety and PTSD at the dentist - making note that even for a simple dentist appointment, I had to be given anti anxiety drugs prior so that I didn't have a panic attack. I had also made it very clear that I have an autoimmune disease, which was part of the reason I had such high anxiety, with having been hospitalized several times throughout my life. I was not given anything prior to the appointment to take to help ease this. I filled out every piece of paper (or so I thought) prior to my appointment to hopefully make this as smooth sailing as I could. Upon arrival, I was given more paperwork with health history and allergies to medications. Once taken back, I was asked for the third time what my medical history was and what I was allergic to - I felt that none of this was paid attention to until the time of appointment. By the time my blood pressure cuff was on, my BP was 177/122. - it is typically 105/85, so this was a pretty clear indicator I was having an anxiety attack. The doctor actually told me that he "wished they could've caught my autoimmune disease at birth"...not possible since my beta cells worked until I was 8, which is when my body started recognizing them as a virus and attacking them, hence giving me my autoimmune disease. It isn't something you're just "born with". I am currently sitting in the emergency room. I had called back to let the clinic know that my pain was severe. I couldn't eat or drink. Which is something I have to do being type 1 diabetic. Also, the doctor and his assistant Jen should have been aware that a immense amount of pain can increase your cortisol levels, which directly impact your blood sugar - causing them to be high, which can cause DKA and lead to insulin resistance which can lead to death. When speaking to his assistant Jen, I was just told that "this is what they give patients for pain" and that I could take over the counter Tylenol. People are not numbers. Everyone's pain level is different. Some of us have autoimmune conditions that directly affect the ability to heal and are directly affected by pain level and the hormone it secrets. None of us should be treated "the same" as every other patient when we are all individual. I am very disappointed at the lack of compassionate care towards patients. This has now turned into a much larger, life threatening condition due to the inability to adjust a patient care plan to the individual. read more

The staff is beyond amazing, they are always in such a great mood.In July I had a awful toothache and they were able to get me in the day I called and help relieved most of my pain that day and scheduled me for the further appointment I needed. Best dentist experience ever! Great office staff, fantastic dentist. Dr. Usha fixed what a different dentist messed up. She had 2 crowns completed in less than 2 hours with Cerec CAD/CAM technology. No pain, she let me know what was going on as she worked on my teeth. She is quick, exact, professional and has a sense of humor. She did not do anything that was not necessary. Dr Shah and the entire staff at Maple Valley Modern Dentistry rock! I went in, very apprehensively I might say, for some long needed work. I was anticipating the "we can do this today but you will have to come back for this and that" line that is typical of most practices. Not here! I spent the day there, getting X-rays, cleaning, treatment plan, scaling, and crowns all completed by the time I left at 6pm. No hassle with my insurance, very fair pricing, everything clearly explained. Competency, skill and teamwork was evident, everything went smoothly without a hitch. Dr Shah and the entire group of professionals did a simply outstanding job, to include complete instructions of what to do after I left there, and a follow up call to see how I was doing. I first went to Maple Valley Modern Dentistry for a cleaning because of the special they offered. I knew that I had a tooth in front that I had checked through the years with other dentists that would eventually need work. I had a crack in the tooth and it had grown significantly, they found. The Dr. explained what he thought needed to be done and the process he would recommend, as well as what other processes that were available. I agreed on a particular one and made the appointment to have a "jacket veneer" put on. He and his lovely assistant walked me through the whole process and answered questions I had, kept checking to see that I wasn't in pain and that the veneer was perfect. He matched up the color perfectly and you can't tell by looking at my smile that I had anything done to it. Great job! I am thrilled with the results. It took a very short time for me to get used to the "new" tooth. They do awesome work! read more

I HATE going to the dentist! This was one of the most pleasant office visits at a dentist office I have had in years. I delayed going to the dentist for teeth cleaning for two years. I have great insurance and can go every six months, but forfeited that service because I HATE going to the dentist. The whole staff was amazing. The Dr. was gentle and assuring and told me everything she was doing almost every 30 seconds. My mind even wandered off. The dentist assistant was very calming, informative and caring. I definitely recommend this practice. I now will be back for my 6 month cleaning and check-ups every year! read more

This practice is run unethically and is a scam. I was changing dentists and let them know that, as well as where they could obtain my prior patient records. I made an appointment for a semiannual teeth cleaning. Prior to my visit they had my dental insurance information so that they could review my coverage, and know what was available. I spoke with our insurance provider, and they confirmed that the dentist's office have access to see what your coverage, as what is currently available for coverage. On the day of my visit they put me through numerous x-rays. Some were not covered because it wasn't time yet for me to have them again. They were fully aware of that, and failed to disclose this to me. Now I have a $400.00 bill that I am liable for. An ethical business that wanted to build it's client base would let you know that. They didn't and they had no intention of doing so. Not the kind of people that I want to deal with. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THEM! read more

Best dental experience I've ever had. I would be lying if I didn't say I was scared out of my mind before going to Maple Valley Modern Dentistry. After meeting with Dr. Shah for only a few moments he made me feel like I could breathe and rest assure that I was in good hands. I went in for what I thought was going to be an exam and to get a treatment plan but Dr shah and his staff went above and beyond that... I was his last patient of the day and after learning that I had one serious problem area the Dr offered to start my treatment right then and there. He could have easily have rescheduled and sent me on my way so he could go home but he didn't. He finished the 2 hour procedure which included making me a crown right then and there. I was shocked and very pleased with this. His staff was very nice and helpful when it came to writing and explaining my treatment plan and even helping me set up VERY affordable treatment plans. I had to get my dental cleaning and also some fillings done before I get my braces put on. Because I only had one week before I get my braces I had contacted Maple Valley Modern Dentistry to get my cleaning done and they filled me in the next day. I walked in and everything was so clean and organized. They had me fill out couple paperwork then right after I got my x rays done. Dr. shah and everyone else was very friendly, yet still very professional. I found out I had 5 cavities and needed to get them filled. BEST part is that because of my tight schedule they did all 5 in one settings. It was comfortable and I felt ZERO pain through the whole procedure. Jenny was great too cleaning my teeth. She went very slow knowing that I had sensitive gums. Really recommend this dentistry to everyone who is looking for an affordable and reassuring place.
