My little one has been at MV since he was 1. We love MV and our community here. This school is all about the magic of children, love and creativity.

This hangs in the preschool area and just gives an idea of the cozy vibe.

My daughter is now in 3rd grade and loves her teachers, wenn she comes home, she often even plays, that she is a teacher and repeats with her puppets what she did and learned in the school. Although she had a hard time with divorce between me and her mother, the school gave her stability, joy and purpose. I'm writing this as a balanced review because our experience here truly had both positives and…read morechallenges. First, I want to say how much I love the concept of this preschool. The play-based, outdoor, nature-focused learning environment is really special, and I was genuinely excited when my daughter started in August 2025 in the Caterpillar class. In the beginning, things were great. Communication was strong, and I appreciated the regular updates and posts that helped me feel connected to her day. However, after Mrs. Sarah left, there was a noticeable shift. Communication became less consistent, and some concerns started to come up. There were a few instances where my daughter figured out how to get out of the play area, which was understandably concerning. I also occasionally picked her up with a very full diaper that hadn't been changed, which added to my discomfort. Over time, I began receiving more frequent calls or texts asking me to pick her up early. Mrs. Karen shared concerns about my daughter's behavior and recommended that we pursue an evaluation and consider one-on-one support. While that was difficult to hear, I truly can't fault them for it, if it weren't for this recommendation, I may not have gotten my daughter evaluated as early as I did. Because of that, she is now in a preschool where she is thriving and getting the support she needs. This program is very free-flowing, which can be wonderful for many children. However, if your child needs more structure, routine, or individualized attention, it may not be the best fit. My daughter, who is mildly autistic, found the environment overwhelming at times without that added support. Overall, I think this preschool can be an amazing place for children who are able to communicate clearly, are potty trained (even though its not required), and can follow basic group instructions. But based on our experience, it may not be the right environment for every child. I'm grateful for the role this school played in helping us better understand our daughter's needs, even though our journey here ultimately led us in a different direction.

She had a speech delay, and Monarch worked with us every step of the way, staying flexible and communicative so we never felt like we were asking for too much. We're endlessly grateful, and we hope other families facing similar challenges feel encouraged to reach out, because this school will meet you where you are and help your child shine.

Katie is an exceptional teacher. Her sensible and calm approach never ceases to amaze me. Ana is a very patient and kind teacher and she too completely follows the philosophy of this school. My son loved the teacher, Olivia. I would give 5 stars but for the following reasons: 1. It is free play and the children may do whatever they want. Given this scenario, the minimum requirement of teacher to children ratio seems wanting. It might become very very difficult to supervise all the children doing so many different activities, in so many different locations of the school (not all within the teachers' lines of sight), especially since the ages of the children range between 2 and 4. Sometimes it might be overwhelming. Sometimes the needs of some children might be overlooked. 2. This school is not for everybody. For some children, this might work wonders, but for some, this might do the opposite. Be aware of your child's needs and determine if this school is a right fit. And keep reassessing this from time to time. 3. Their inconsistent approach to dealing with seperation anxiety and their inability to deal with children whose native language is not English have also been problem areas that I have found other schools to handle seamlessly without an issue.

I heard that it was a large and thriving school before the pandemic and it is now growing, but organically. But currently, the classroom size is about 6 or 8 kids in my son's class, it has room to grow. The timbre of the theory of the school is to develop the child with wonder, curiosity, desire, and the confidence to learn and create, and then they could pursue the facts to learn. In this world of technology changing everything exponentially, some educators wonder if they should drill the children with facts and figures when computers will be providing all of that. These educators seem to think that the children who will succeed in the future are those who think and create. My son likes this school. He was recently diagnosed with ADHD, and the instructors are continuously learning and growing to work with him. And the biggest thing they seem to be teaching are social skills. This school currently runs from pre-k to 5th, and they are in talks about going up to 6th grade.

Now let me just start by saying, this school is different and I truly feel lucky that we got in. Also, I have to say this school might not be attractive to every parent ok.... Please take the intake seriously, because you could be taking a lottery spot for someone who truly wants to be in a Waldorf school. How would I describe our experience so far ? If you or your kid loves the outdoors (sun, rain, moon, stars, ocean) things that grow and live in gardens, nature walks, learning how to care for Mother Earth, etc. then this is your dream school. If you or your child enjoy playtime in mud, dirt, don't lose your mind over stains, love rain boots, umbrellas, etc. then this is your dream school. If you or your child enjoy all things magical/wholesome make-believe, like fairy tears, knights, puppets etc. then this is your dream school. Ok I think you get the point :). Reminder , this is a review of my experience in the kindergarten program... where my child learned how to write her name, craft, knit, cut vegetables, set the table, do chores, sing songs, explore, pick up worms, and much more. I like and admire our teacher and her aid. They are extremely experienced and are really good with the kids. I don't need to be the teachers best friend, I just need to hear from my child that she loves her and is excellent with the kids, that's all that matters to me, and she is! The school is small, which I love, it feels old fashioned in all the good ways... like in ways that will remind you of your childhood school days. It is truly a Waldorf school, so make sure you research that and know what you are signing up for. I love it for our family, I personally couldn't imagine my child anywhere else. It's a little gem and I'm so glad it exists. Also, there are things they ask for like, no Disney/characters on clothes, no fancy nails, hair color, makeup, stuff that could be competitive/distracting and I'm sooooo grateful for that. They really want them to have this beautiful slow childhood. There are also so many resources for the parents! So if this all sounds lovely to you and your family - Best wishes and good luck on lottery day!!

They responded by INCLUDING my ABUSIVE EX on my email to them and asking "his permission" to share the records with me. This is a clear violation of FERPA and I plan to bring this to the attention of the Department of Education. Naples elementary of Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) is violating your parental rights by: * Withholding your children's attendance records, * Asking your abusive ex for permission, and * Including him on communications without your consent, you should escalate this immediately and formally. Here's who to contact and how to structure it: 1. Start with the Principal and School Office Manager If you haven't already, email the principal and CC the office manager demanding a written explanation. But since this is now a rights violation, go higher. 2. A formal written explanation of why this delay occurred. 3. A statement clarifying how your staff will avoid involving my ex in future communications regarding my parental rights. If I do not receive a satisfactory response within 5 business days, I will escalate this matter to the LBUSD Superintendent's Office and file a FERPA complaint with the U.S. Department of Education.
