I really enjoyed my bacon egg and cheese bagel with grilled onions and jalapeños, and I would love to return again. Also had a really great frozen coffee. This is a great spot for fresh, delicious bagels--soft, chewy, and full of flavor. I had a breakfast sandwich that was excellent and definitely hit the spot. I also tried the Piña Colada smoothie, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste--I ended up adding some water to tone it down. They're currently dealing with staffing issues, so there's no indoor dining at the moment, but they do have some outdoor tables available. Despite that, it's still a solid place to grab a great breakfast or snack. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the neighborhood again! read more

**INITIAL REVIEW** Maplewood Bagel Market (which I will shorthand to Maplewood for the remainder of this review), was one of the few local breakfast and brunch places that opened early after I got off of work at 5 a.m. I did have to wait another hour for them to open at 6 a.m., but that is earlier than most other places around the area. Given the fact I arrived about 10 minutes after Maplewood opened, there was no line, just one person ahead of me, thus taking first pick on everything they had available, warm and fresh out of the oven. Unfortunately, there were some considerations I have to take in thus making my visit not necessarily the best it could be. Before continuing, I must stress that Maplewood is located on the northwest corner of the Maplewood Center, a strip mall located at the northeast corner of Maplewood Dr. and Commerce Ln. As mentioned earlier, Maplewood opens at 6 a.m. which seems to be earlier than most of the other breakfast and brunch mom n' pops in the area. On my way to enter, I was guided to the south entrance of the store in which the dining area and the line next to the counter was caution taped off. I don't know what was going on, but it seems they set up today to be take-out only. Looking at the menus available, I noticed a note that said the bagels were store bought today, not the fresh out-of-the-oven scratch bagels like they advertise. I can only assume this is a momentary issue that by happenstance, during my visit. As per suggestions from my fellow Yelpers, I got the breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg, and cheese on a croissant. I also ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese, and the delicious Horchata coffee, which they said only comes iced. It did not take too long for the staff at Maplewood to make my food, but with nobody in line, I'd think it would have been faster than 15 minutes. Just a note I took. Also, they forgot my bagel with cream cheese. Something that I absorbed the loss on as the line suddenly built up after I exited out. It should also be noted there was some seating as the outdoor area has some tables and chairs with umbrellas for patrons to utilize. Initially, I am going to have to give Maplewood two out of five stars. I will take into account this might have been a "bad time" to visit them, so I will definitely give them extra consideration the next time I come in. But for now, I have to take in the wait time, price of food with bagels that were store bought elsewhere, and the fact I didn't even get my bagel, in this rating. Not even the fact the breakfast sandwich and Horchata iced coffee was good would help. I hope Maplewood does better next time and that my initial visit was simply an isolated coincidence. read more

The staff was incredibly friendly right from walking in the door! I've heard a ton of recommendations from colleagues at work so wanted to check it out myself and I'm already excited to go back. I got a ham, egg and cheese on a croissant that was made to order and I was happy to wait for. In the meantime I asked for recommendations on some pastries and muffins, I asked about the chocolate croissant and they had some fresh coming right out of the oven. The gentleman working there warned me it was piping hot and to wait a bit before eating it which I thought was sweet. The breakfast sandwich was fantastic & so were the pastries. Some older photos show tables and chairs inside but they haven't allowed anyone to sit inside since COVID. At that time they pushed the tables together as a barrier so nobody can get within 6 feet of the counter. They've left it that way ever since. A sign in the window says no indoor seating because of the "staff situation" been that way for years now. Food is okay but to-go only. 1. The line to order is really wierd and uninviting. They have tables, chairs, and trash cans in a line tied off to block getting anywhere near the counter to see the food and menu's closely. Looks like something they did during COVID and never went back to normal the chairs and tables to eat in are used instead to block counter. 2. I ordered a plain bagel with sausage, egg and cheese and a 10 ounce bottle of orange juice. $14 dollars maybe I don't go out to eat enough but that's seem awfully high priced. 3. They don't have any inside seating. They have heavy chairs lined up inside creating a barrier. Have to move one out of the way if you need the bathroom. That was a little tricky while holding a squirmy toddler. Also not having a counter to put my bag on and having to use the chair was not the easiest. We were in town from Los Angeles (so we're used to bad bagels), these however, were the worst. A texturally off experience. It was not heaven in my mouth. The bagel tasted undercooked and doughy and the croissant had no lamination and was shockingly tiny. We did however eat all of it just because we were really hungry. Do Not Recommend.. The owner is not a good person, why would anyone want to pay their hard earned money to someone not deserving?? The cream cheese is clearly handmade (not well), it is powdery. The bread was stale, and the building had a strong odor. It did not smell like a bagel place, closer to a trap house. So I went early in the morning and was greeted by a woman ready to write down what I wanted. I kind of had to tell her I wasn't ready yet so she would take a step back. They have tables blocking you from getting close to the counter so that's a little 2020 but whatever. I met the owner Erich who is full of energy! I'm not a morning person so although I appreciate his enthusiasm I was like woah lol He was super nice and seemed to know his customers because he kept asking for their validation by name. I ordered the Asiago bagel with Jalapeño cream cheese and upon request they gave me a ton with no extra charge. My bagel was about $6. The bagel was super fresh and very large too and the cheese was crisped up so nicely and there was plenty baked on there so highly recommend their bagels. The cream cheese had slices of jalapeños in it which I loved. They gave me a free bagel to take home (of my choice) which was a very kind gesture that I certainly appreciated. I chose a Jalapeño bagel. Local honey was for sale and some candy like skittles etc They do close at 2pm not 3:30pm as stated on here. All in all I will be back. Awesome local place! Their chicken salad is the absolute best. The owner is super duper proud of his establishment and talks to everyone who comes in. The only funny part is I've been there over a dozen times, and always order the chicken salad on an everything bagel, and he still greets me as new every time and explains how they make it every day. So he doesn't exactly have the best memory, but he's still super nice. Their bakery makes some amazing pastries. Sometimes they have an asiago everything croissant! They have oowy gooey chocolate pastries and fruity berry muffins. So many good things! Since covid they have not had any dine in seating, but I don't think that's really a detriment. They have a continual line that keeps moving. If you are lucky, sometimes they give out free samples. That is how they got me hooked on their caramel frozen coffee. I wish they did free samples more often, I would probably buy so many more things! The only downside is it is pricey, but it's also supporting local business, so all good. When I moved to Florida 10 years ago, this place was the best bagel place around. Since then, the owner, Eric seemed to have stepped out of running the place, and his wife has truly run it into the ground. She is rude to all the customers still runs the store like it's Covid. Nobody can sit inside tables blocked off. I can't even give this place one star it is absolutely horrible. You go there at 10 in the morning and they're ready out of half their bagels because she doesn't wanna cook and have extra. I hadn't been there in a couple months hoping that when I went back, it might be a different story but once again the same story I asked for a Poppy bagel they come back and tell me that they're out of it. I say an egg bagel. They say OK a few minutes later they told me they're out of it. This place sucks. Someone needs to take over and bring it back to what it was back in the day because the owner lady that's behind the counter is the absolute worst at customer service. read more

Went to Maplewood bagel market Sunday morning while in town for a Monday. They were apparently short staffed that day and had a long line when walking in the restaurant. Staff was super friendly to all guests and the line moved so fast. Staff was efficient and organized! They have breakfast sandwiches, bagels and lunch sandwiches. Two bagels for $17 before tip??? We added bacon, but these were not even bagel sandwiches! This is basically robbery! I do not understand how they are justifying these prices. Be warned, you also will not receive a receipt. These prices are not listed online, and they did not inform me of the price until charging my card. Perhaps the price could be justified with good customer service, but unfortunately this is not the case. Placed an order for pickup. Have previously tried to call ahead and normally do not get through to anyone. Lucked out today and placed my pickup order but was rudely informed when I arrived that I needed to wait in the extensively long ordering line only to inform them I was there for my pickup. Roughly 10 people in front of me as I waited with my food ready for someone to bring it to me. Bagels are delicious, but overall experience severely diminishes this. Only giving this two stars instead of one due to yummy food. I have had many bagels from Maplewood but have recently seen severely increased prices and decreased customer service. Unfortunately, after recent experiences, I cannot see myself returning even for delicious food. Consider, there is no inside seating and only 3 outside tables. Also, customers are herded like sheep through their makeshift ordering line made of all their indoor tables that we are unable sit at. This ordering line makes it very difficult to see their selection and menus. As you will have already ordered by the time you can make it to the pastry counter. COVID is over.
