There were, to my memory, zero firings in 2017. I can only say the best things about this daycare, where my 4 year old has been going since she was 6 months old. It's not a homogeneous group of kids but they do generally come from white collar families. The teachers have done a really good job of supporting education (my daughter could write her name when she turned 3) and social graces & behavior, including our efforts at potty training.

There's more curriculum, healthier food, the teachers are so kind and patient and VERY capable, and my daughter is so happy and CLEAN at the end of the day. Naptime is set in stone with dim lighting and soft music and they work with her crib issues to get her asleep. This is a friendly, all involved daycare that I can feel good about her being in. If you can get in here, please don't hesitate, it's top notch. And being in the federal building, it's secure. I also love that they include what she is developing when she does an activity (motor skills, etc). And you get a detailed report at the end of the day!

We love the staff here as they have so much compassion and love for the kids in the center. In the infant room the teachers are very flexible and make sure the infant's day is as close to a day at home as possible. They allow you to bring in food and snacks from home once the infant is old enough for solid foods and have no problem adjusting to any meal substitutions. Our child loves coming to the center and lights up every time she sees her teachers. They incorporate age specific activities in their curriculum to further the child's growth. Education is a big part of the curriculum in all classrooms which is very important to us. The Gingerbread House was voted best daycare center in Syracuse for a reason and I would highly recommend enrolling your child(ren) here.

This drop in daycare center is an excellent resource for parents. Open 9-3 Monday-Friday (with…read morelater 'parent night out' hours most Fridays), parents can drop their children off for up to 3 hours a day while they run errands, get a meal or just take a breather from their kids! I have used it nearly a dozen times and can't recommend it highly enough. First, the owner Mary Ellen is a former teacher and a mom herself and is marvelous with the kids. Second, the center is very clean and has a great variety of toys, games, educational materials for children. My two year old daughter loves it there. Each time I pick her up she asks when she can go back and play. The only negative to me are the hours as I would love to use it later in the afternoon or on weekends. One other great aspect is that children do not need to be toilet trained to use the center the way they do at a lot of drop in places. I encourage parents to try this out...you won't be disappointed!

The child/teacher ratio is extremely skewed during evening pick up, and it is obvious the few teachers present during that time are overwhelmed with the number of children they are responsible for. The children (of varying age groups) are herded together in either in one room during the winter or inclement weather, or out on the playground during nicer weather. There were several occasions when I picked my child up without the teachers noticing me there, and certainly no acknowledgement whatsoever of my presence. It's important to note that this facility is located within the Salina Town Hall, and criminal court takes place once or twice a week starting around 5pm. While on the playground during pickup, children are exposed to the inmates coming in from the county jail for their court appearances. Needless to say, our child is no longer in attendance.
