I called Maraviov's looking to see if he could mount a red dot optic on my pistol. He claimed he could so I brought the pistol and optic to him having full faith that he knew what he was doing, When I picked up my pistol, it was evident he had never done it before. Maraviov's only milled into the slide 1/32 of an inch, a standard RMR footprint optic is milled 1/8th of an inch. He claimed the metal was "really hard" on the slide. He also did not mill the bosses (posts) for the optic that take the g force caused by the firing of the weapon. Instead he milled it completely flat, tapped 2 holes for the screws and used blue loc tite and the 2 screws to hold it down. There is over 2000 g's of force on a slide when firing. The screws are not designed to take that kind of force. The loc tite and screws would have eventually failed and sheared more than likely sending the optic flying back in to my face. Nobody in the industry smears blue loc tite on the optic and slaps it on the slide. There's more, he also milled straight across the slide instead of following the slight curve of the optic. So there is a small gap between the front of the optic and slide. The only thing that saved me is he took so little slide material away when he milled it that another company said they would probably be able to salvage it. All I had to do was wrench my $300 optic off the slide without breaking it and chip the loc tite off. I would have preferred he told me he had never done it before. Long story short, when it comes to getting a red dot mounted on your pistol, send it to someone who knows what they are doing. Maraviov's clearly does not and will slap it together and call it good. read more

Awesome work done by this place. I needed A post style sights removed. After a failed attempt of a DIY project, I left the tapered pins (pins that can only be removed from one side only) shaved off and I gave up because I couldn't remove it. I wish I would've just went to them in the first place and made it easier for all of us. I live about an hour away and I couldn't find any trust worthy gunsmith in my area. After reading the reviews on the gunsmiths in my area I chose to take it this gunsmith because they had more reviews than any other gunsmith I could find. I am not going lie I was a bit hesitant because I had never visited any gunsmith for anything so this was my first time. I called down before I came because I didn't want to make the drive out for no reason and the guy who answered the phone was very helpful and recommended to come down as I messed up the pins to remove the sights. I told him I was trying to install a aftermarket hand guard by stingr industries (by the way very high quality with low budget hand guard). He had offer to fix the pins so he could remove the front sights and install the hand guard at a very reasonable price. I was not expecting it to be done the same day and he said he couldn't promise it would be done that day and mentioned it possibly would be done by the next day. However, he had seen how far I was coming from so he said he would do his best to get it done that day. Well I stayed in town for a few hours went to eat and surely by the 2nd hour he calls me to come pick up the firearm. That is good business right there, takes his clients seriously and does unmatched craftsmanship. He under promised and over delivered! I have a before and after picture so you can see what a big difference this has left on my firearm. It was an smith and Wesson m&p 15 chambered in 556 NATO. I would recommend these guys for any Gunsmithing to friends and family. I definitely would make the drive out again and come back if I need any work done. Kudos to a job well done! read more

He's worked on three of my guns so far (9mm m&p shield, .45 XD, and AR 15). Each time he has provided outstanding work. Although the turnaround time might be longer than desired (3 weeks, 1 month, etc.) the work is outstanding. One time I wanted him to put a red dot sight on my firearm (without him seeing the actual sight), and when I picked it up, the sight sat too high, so I brought him the sight, he ordered a new part, and fixed the issue with no extra charge. I am one who values being treated as a customer over a transaction, and this guy does just that. I live 45 mins away from this place, and there are several gunsmith locations near me, but I wouldn't dare go to another place when this guy is all about quality, and I'd have it no other way, my guns deserve the very best. read more

Super low key shop but seems like everyone knows about him. Hes a nice guy but will charge a lot for simple fittings. His turn around is absolutely terrible as hes a one man operation and has a lot on his plate. Call before you go as he doesnt keep a website up to date and may take week long hunting trips. Hes open tues-friday 12-5. He may leave earlier or may not be there. Like i said call first and hell always pick up the phone if hes there. read more

My 1911 chambered in Super38/9mm developed extraction issues after ~3500 rds. I purchase an extended ejector and extractor from Wilson Combat and proceeded to Craig's shop in Woodland. I brought both barrels plus ammo and two weeks later I have a 1911 that rocks once again. Will absolutely recommend. Note that I drive from Elk Grove, so would recommend that one calls ahead if distance driving is part of the plan. read more

For more than 15 years I have taken pistols, shotguns and rifles to Craig Maraviov for a range of services, and the quality has been excellent. Yes, I have needed to return a firearm a time or two, but he expedited the additional diagnoses/repair and never charged extra for his time. His open hours/days are limited to the afternoon so he can do actual work in the am otherwise he would be answering calls and tending the counter since their is a broad demand for his expertise. As someone else expressed, he is the entire shop so if you "need it now," seek another smithy. However, you can save some time by bringing in parts needed to be installed or repaired since he bundle-orders supplies every couple of weeks or so. As any wise customer knows, make sure you have a backup firearm during the interim. Confidence, trust, and reliability is what I have come to anticipate and receive from Maraviov Gunsmithing. read more
