Very poorly run business. I needed a job done and they let my part sit on their shelf for over a week because they were "retooling their resurfacing machine". I was told I'd get a call with an ETA before the end of the day when I dropped my part off and no call came. I called in the morning and they wanted me to come down because the guy I dropped it off with didn't file paperwork on it. So I had to drive back there do the paperwork and then they told me by the end of the day I should have my part ready. That day came and went, the next day came and went, on the 3rd day I swung by while I was already driving that way and my part literally hadn't moved from the check in table where I left it the day I dropped it off. "oh we got the wrong brushes for the resurfacing machine" Mike says. I'll have the part in today and I'll do your part first thing he says. Two more days came and went and it was Friday so I decided to give them until Tuesday morning so basically 8 days and then I stopped by Tuesday morning. On Tuesday morning not only was my exhaust manifold still sitting on the check in desk untouched but that idiot Mike got a good chuckle at my expense and said he still didn't have the parts for the resurfacing machine. How the hell does a machine shop go 8 days without a surfacing machine?? thats like the heart of a machine shop operation LOL. Needless to say I just grabbed my manifold and walked out of the place. These guys are total clowns. I should have known when I walked in and saw garbage and clutter everywhere that these guys weren't the shop to go to. Machining is an attention to detail craft and they put absolutely no attention to detail in their workspace so I can only assume the same goes for their work it definitely applies to how they run their business. Since I live a block away it was convenient to give them a chance, or so I thought, but clearly that wasn't the case. To add insult to injury, when I asked what they would charge me for a rebuild on my 22re toyota 4cylinder 8 valve head they quoted me 500$ LOL that is basically 225$ above market rate in the area so they were trying to play me for a chump obviously. For 600$ you can get a brand new custom built head with a quality casting and cam shaft and this guy wanted to charge 500$ to rebuild a 30 year old head. I would never recommend anyone go to these guys they are totally unprofessional and I have no idea how they could have any good reviews at all. Based on my experience and based on the condition of the shop I can only conclude that the good reviews must be their family members and friends posing as satisfied customers LMAO. read more

I've heard of Mike Parrish before and many friends I know in the Auto industry of all walks would mention he did their work. Sometimes, it would be people in the downtown Sacramento area where I would think "isn't there somebody closer? " Now I know why the go the extra difference. He built a 351 Windsor for my 1970 cougar xr7 with a T5 conversion that simply fits exactly what I needed and wanted to a T. I wanted hot, but not too hot. I wanted a cam, but not too lurpy. I bought a rebuilt motor from a nation wide builder only to have it have a harmonic vibration from the second I fired it up. After replacing everything that rotates from the flex plate to the harmonic balancer it still had a vibration. After talking to Parrish automotive they recommended a rotating assembly balance. Reluctantly I removed my motor and disassembled. I took the rotating assembly to Parrish for a balance. Two weeks later I got it back, installed and reinstalled the motor. Smooth as silk. I would definitely recommend their knowledge when I comes to engine and machining work. read more

Been putting off writing this review for too long (shame!). Have had Parrish do valve work with satisfactory results in the past-actually, so far back that details are fuzzy, other than that the work was done well and affordably. Fast forward 17 or so years...I needed work done on my Tacoma head so I went the 'tried and true' route. Glad I did. The short version: Parrish did not, in the end, do the work on my cylinder head. But only because, although the internal parts were (re-)usable, the head itself had starter cracks in all the cylinders. When I went to pick up the now-clean chunk of aluminum Mike did not charge me the full (quoted) cost for the labor for the cleaning, disassembly and spec analysis. He also took the time to show me some things to look for in future, tips on what to do and made a very generous offer of advisory assistance on completing my engine repair. I encounter many people in the course of doing business day to day. If even half of them were as knowledgeable and honest (not to mention just downright _nice_ ) as Mike this would be a much better world. read more
