Awful service. We walked in at 8:36 pm and were told they couldn't do anymore ice cream because they were "about to close." The store closes at 9 pm, so I'm not sure why they had already put away almost all of the cookies and cleaned the ice cream surface to where they couldn't mix anymore. They didn't even apologize. Just acted as if shutting the store down 24 minutes before closing was a totally fine thing to do. Will not return. read more

I see very low reviews here and I think it's a pretty decent ice cream shop. I'm a fan of the mix ins and they have cinnamon ice cream which you don't see often. The women working there were very friendly too but I did come in the middle of the day and the problem seems to be around closing time? The best thing about Marble Slab Creamery is the unlimited mix-ins combined with the delicious flavors. Marble Slab ice creams are made with dairy from local farms in small batches. They offer ice cream cakes, cookies, cookie cakes, ice cream cookie sandwiches, milkshakes, sundaes and of course their ice cream cones. Making decisions when there are so many choices is not my forte. However after trying a few samples I settled on the sweet cream ice cream mixed with oreos (yes I only got one topping!!) with a chocolate-dipped waffle cone. They have 3 different sizes of cones. I got a regular cone and it was more than enough. The staff mix the ice cream and toppings on a marble slab (hence the name) then put it in the cone. My companion got the cinnamon vanilla in a plain waffle cone, and it tasted like a snickerdoodle cookie. I would recommend this Creamery to anyone in Oxford. This store is clean and the employees were helpful. read more

Gotta say, yikes. The ice cream itself is fine, no complaints, just like any other marble slab. However, the service is terrible. When I went to this location there were 4 women working, and it was around 9:30. So I got in line and picked out my ice cream and was having it mixed. While this was occurring, the door opened and in came about 3 people. The woman mixing my ice cream loudly groans, and says she's never getting off. I asked her what time they closed (because I try not to come into restaurants right as they close because I recognize they want to go home too) and she said 11. It was like 9:35. She had a whole hour at the very least before she got off. This attitude of complaint for doing the required work was pretty standard among the women. For instance, one woman complained that she had just chopped the brownies for tomorrow and now she had to use them today because they were out. That's kinda how food service is, you gotta replace the used product. And all of this complaining was done easily in earshot, right in front of my place. Lastly, when my friend and I left the creamery, it was around 10 and the women had most definitely started closing down. They were washing things, putting things away. I would not be surprised if after we left, an hour before they close, they locked the doors and called it a day. Whoever owns this location, hire better staff. read more

Let me start by saying that I live less than a mile away from this "creamery". I was on the way home from a night of rigorous studying during midterms and wanted to get me and my brother a treat to bring a good end to the long night. I pull up at 9:51, alone with my mouth practically foaming with the thought of these succulent cookies that Great American Cookies™ is know for. To my horror, just as I get out of my car I see a young lady walk up to the door, look me in the soul, and lock the door. My world shattered, I stopped and everything was silent... I got back in my car solemnly and thought, "What now? Where can I go to satisfy the burning whole in my gullet?" I couldn't find an answer that night. I will always wonder what that night could have been. There is now a whole in my heart and the only thing "Great" that I got from those "American Cookies" was great sadness and hunger. 1/5 stars. It is clearly indicated that the store closes at 10:00. When I arrived at 9:50, a girl immediately locked the door, prohibiting me from trying a "great" American cookie for the first time. This is not a hardship that a college student should have to endure. Does this place have good cookies? I don't know. Does it have good service? Probably not. First of all let me say that I NEVER write reviews unless they are positive ones - but let me just tell you my experience today really set me off. I have never had an issue with this store, the employees are always pleasant and willing to help. First of all, we got there at 11:55 right before they opened and we waited until they unlocked the door - not an issue I don't mind waiting! The lady/manager opening the store unlocked the door and instead of opening it for us walked away. Second of all, from the beginning when I was trying to order a cookie cake she was so RUDE to me and treated me like I was stupid. The whole time she just acted annoyed with me. When I asked her what she would recommend for the color of the writing on the cake she said "Ma'am this is not my cake". But that's not even the kicker here, she asked if I wanted to pay for my order now or when I picked it up. I told her I'll just pay for it now that way I'll have a receipt - she huffed her breath at me and said the credit card machine was down so I couldn't pay. My friend ordered 3 cookies right after me and miraculously she got the credit card machine to work for her. I don't know what the issue with her was today. Maybe she just had a bad day - but nevertheless if you have a PAYING customer who is making a large pick-up order you would think even a LITTLE bit of kindness would've been shown. This Mable Slab Creamery has horrible customer service. As the previous reviews stated, the employees have a major chip on their shoulders and they seem to enjoy being rude. It is so sad that management has not cleaned up this disgusting behavior. My experience was very similar to other reviews. The staff was extremely rude and they closed early. When this marble slab first opened I was very impressed and happy to have one in town. I went again tonight and the staff acted very unprofessional by throwing around the F word and looking clueless on how to make a cookies and cream milkshake. My boyfriend and I wanted to grab some ice cream after the ole miss baseball game and I looked up your store hours prior to leaving to see if you'd still be open. We were really excited to see you are open until 11 PM so we headed there after walking to our car. When we walked in at 10:30, one of the workers shot us a very unwelcoming look. This particular worker obviously had 2 friends there in the store waiting for her to get off. While we were in line ordering, it appeared that another car was pulling up and she said aloud "people need to stop coming in here". I responded with "sorry, the baseball game just got out so that's probably why people are coming in so late". She responded with nothing, except another unpleasant look. After my boyfriend and I purchased our ice cream, we decided to sit down because he drives a stick shift and he wouldn't be able to drive his Jeep and eat his ice cream. As soon as we sat down, this same employee looked over at us, rolled her eyes, and said something to her friends that made them laugh- I'm sure it was another complaint about us being there so late. I'm not sure if she heard me but I said something along the lines of "if you all don't want people in here this late then you should ask your manager to change your store hours". There are not many things that make me upset as a customer at a food service establishment- but this was extremely rude and very frustrating. We sat and ate our ice cream and were gone by 10:45.
