Considering the location of McEwen's, I was expecting more. When I can throw a stone and hit ten 4 or 5 star restaurants, I wouldn't come back here. Our server was lovely but clearly overmatched and it took 25 minutes for our appetizer of a tomato salad to arrive. Not a big deal but we hadn't even ordered yet, 35 minutes in while surrounded by empty tables. I ordered the filet which was good but I can only image that the 5 pieces of a potato and the once green beans were placed under the steak as a decoration and not to be eaten.

Third time was not a charm! Chicken was so salty and undercooked, it was inedible. Overall the entire restaurant needs a refresh and deep cleaning and they need to focus of better food and service. Do you self a favor and enjoy the many amazing restaurant in Oxford and leave this poseur to the corn dog lovers!

My Seabass was delicious, ravioli was so good. Fried oysters were greasy. Wine and drinks were a little slow. Overall enjoyed the restaurant.

I felt like I robbed this restaurant after this plate!! So so good and for everything that was in it I was thinking I would get a bigger bill. their bar selection is also pretty fabulous with great cocktails as well. McEwens is a great fine dining experience, but I wouldn't say for the pickiest eaters. They have a French twist on seafood that I personally love.

Atmosphere was cozy yet somewhat upscale. I got fish and it was fantastic. Great drink and food menu. Service was excellent.

Some of the best food I've had in Oxford with HUGE portions. Bartender is also amazing at his job.

The table had ordered a fried pickles but it was a bit too salty for me. The catfish was great, seemed pretty fresh and it didn't have any metallic taste. The sweet potato casserole was just the right amount of sweet and savory. I was going between the catfish and sweet potato to balance out the flavors. The fried okra was a bit bland and definitely needed the sauce. The service was great - attentive and gave great advice on food options. The interior fits the diner appearance and everything looked pretty clean and tidy. Other people in the party enjoyed their poboys and hash brown casseroles.

Heard we had to try Ajax, the diner, not the soap. We stopped in for lunch before heading to Nashville airport to come home. The diner is about what you'd expect inside. Old, kitschy and full of decor. We sat in a booth an were greeted by a waitress promptly for drink orders. Cokes and waters. They deliver the coke in a neat Ajax cup. I ordered the chicken fried steak. Wife ordered the chicken and dumplings and step son ordered catfish. Everything arrived very quickly and everything was hot and southern deliciousness, except the corn bread. The corn bread was dry and not very good at all. Pretty sure it was yesterday's leftover bread or someone needs to pull it 5 minutes sooner from the oven. Unanimous at the table, Everton e had garb corn bread. No big deal. The chicken fried steak was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Gravy was great and the red beans and rice side was awesome. All great flavors. Wife loved the chicken and dumplings, good flavor and tender chicken. She got a side of sweet potato casserole and loved it. I had a bite and it was delicious for certain. Step son had the fried catfish, he is not a big seafood eater but he absolutely loves the catfish. I had a big piece and it was cooked perfectly and tasted great as well. The staff was outstanding, the service was great and the food was excellent sans the cornbread. Ajax is a neat little diner in the heart of Oxford. It's a little pricey as is everything in this college town, but it was worth the visit.

I've been to The Growler quite a few times and have always had a great experience. I decided to swing in this week while back in town and it really held up. The staff working the bar are consistently awesome - they're personable, quick, and extremely helpful. The beer is always well poured. Their food is always great for the atmosphere. Some places tend to get lazy when serving bar food, but that is not the case for The Growler. There is so much seating available if you are planning to hang out with friends, and they have a few tvs and games available for use. It is somehow also a great spot for working - I have typed many, many papers here and have somehow never been too distracted despite this place often being filled with groups of people.
