Stopped in for a treat while visiting Ole Miss for a college visit day. Cute area, with lots of great shopping. The staff was friendly and answered all of the questions my son and husband had about their different cookies. I got the Double Chocolate Mint Cookie, it was delicious!! I kind of wished I had gotten two!!! My husband had the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookie. I took a small bit and I didn't think it was as good as it could have been. I've had better. My son got the cookiewich - chocolate chip cookies with cookies & cream ice cream as the filling. It was huge! He wasn't able to eat the whole thing, but loved what he could. There is 4 people working and only one of the girls are taking our order and cooking. Everyone else is sitting down on their phone not even answering the phone when customers call!! I suppose I didn't really give Insomnia Cookies here a fair shake, because only a day before my visit I went to Christie Cookie Co. in Nashville where I had some of the best cookies in recent memory. Even so, I think even on a day where that hadn't been the case I'd conclude that Insomnia Cookies in Oxford are 'meh' at best, which is a shame given how much I like some of their NYC shops. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? You come in, you order, and you're on your way. Cute shop in a good part of town with solid service. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $1.50 for a decent sized Chocolate Chip Cookie. Not too bad. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? So here's where it all fell apart. As you can maybe tell from the photo, this chocolate chip cookie was an undercooked mess. Crunch? Non-existent. Chewiness to offset the lack of crunch? Nope. In the 5 months since I last visited, insomnia has already aged greatly. The interior seems dingier, the cookies in the display look stale and the line is no where to be found. I think it's safe to say this was a one-month-wonder. Coming off a trip to NYC, which I now believe is the cookie capital, these cookies crumble in comparison to the worst cookie I had there. I think they just use frozen dough, keep them warm all day and entice the innocent, unknowing college students with delivery. Don't fall for it! These cookies aren't your friend! Even though the cookies here are delicious, the whole system that they have set up for ordering seems to be more fitting for a store that doesn't expect very many patrons. I understand that they were really busy when we went, but they were out of many flavors. Which of course, isn't really a big deal since it does happen. Okay, 15 minutes ago I was ready to give Insomnia Cookies, Oxford, a one star rating and dispute my credit card bill. However, since it was my first time ordering and they took care of my issue quickly, I'm awarding 4 stars. Here is the story: I thought I'd send my elderly parents a treat for my Dad's birthday. Ordered a mini cake and ice cream last night for 1 pm delivery today via the Web site. Checked the Insomnia delivery tracker and it said the order had been delivered. Called my parents today at 3:30 pm, but they hadn't received the delivery. Called the customer service line, who said that the driver had called "the number" 3 times, then abandoned the delivery. "The number" turned out to be my cell phone, not my parents' phone, and I was in meetings in another state. They live in a house, so I don't know why the driver didn't just pull into the driveway (at 1:30 pm) and ring the bell. My parents are elderly, and I wouldn't want them to have to go down the driveway to receive their cookies. Understanding that delivery driver safety is important, seems like the driver could have tried a little harder, particularly given the nice tip I put on my credit card. Rant now over, the Customer Service representative that I spoke with did listen to me and my concerns about the failed delivery, called the store, and my parents got their treat within 45 minutes. Apparently there is some issue with phone number storage on Web orders? So Insomnia Cookies, fix your Website and empower your drivers to ring doorbells for daytime deliveries if the situation seems safe. You have an untapped market of elderly cookie lovers in Oxford, Mississippi, and they and their out of town kids are good tippers! First off, the cookies here are excellent. I got several different flavors to try and thought the peanut butter and chocolate chunk were both good. What is lacking here is the service. I know it was a football game weekend, but with a line hanging out the door many flavors weren't made. My brother ordered from Insomnia Cookies and found a STAPLE in his cookie. Baked inside, not just sitting on top. My brother then called back and tried to get replacement cookies 3 times and they never sent anyone while also emailing my brother saying that they sent someone over, which was a lie because he was at home the whole time. I have no complaints about the cookies themselves. It seems the chief complaint is that people are outside the delivery area and time it takes to get delivered. I guess that makes me lucky as I live outside of town and knew I would never get delivered cookies, not to mention that having worked several years delivering pizzas, I know that during busy times you are likely to wait a long time and get lower quality product than if you picked it up. As for my family, we tear through these cookies like a meth addicted squirrel looking for a nut. I have 2 small children that I gave these little heroin bombs to and I dont think I will ever get them off the high. There is nothing extra special about these cookies unless you look at the fact that there are very few choices to get a decent chocolate chip cookie and when your wife nudges your shoulder at 10pm wanting chocolate and your options are a kit Kat from a gas station or warm delicious cookies, the cookies win. The chief complaints I have about this business are the prices of the cookies, I am going bankrupt because of the previously mentioned squirrels, and the parking. The parking is a nightmare mainly because it is located right off the square. The before mentioned late night cookie run is difficult to navigate during those hours as the bars surrounding the area soak up all of the parking. I was excited about my first Insomnia order, especially considering I ordered on a "percentage night" where they gave a percentage of their orders to RebelTHON (the Ole Miss dance marathon). Since this was a percentage night, I decided to splurge a little, ordering a deluxe cookie and a pint of ice cream. The store called me about 25 minutes after placing my order to tell me they were out of the ice cream I wanted. I asked them to substitute a different flavor and they agreed. I was then called again 15 minutes after that, when I was asked about my location. The delivery driver said she would be at my house in 10 minutes. I finally got a knock on my door 35 minutes after that call. The delivery driver told me the dispatcher never gave her my ice cream. I said that would be fine, just to please make sure I wouldn't be charged the $7 for it. Insomnia prides themselves on "warm, delicious, delivered" cookies. They serve cookies. That's about it. I guess they have ice cream too, but I've never tried it. The cookies are good- they're sugary, they're tasty, and they're served warm. They're a good movie night treat if you're having a Netflix and Chill sesh. The prices for everything are SUPER high. It's like $2 a cookie, and the beverages (like milk) are pricey too. The service is usually pretty fast and friendly (and they're open late), the cookies are decent, and the website is easy to use.
