I am so glad I found Mr. Handyman of South Essex. I moved to a new home and some of the tiles in my…read moreshower were leaning in and the wall behind was damaged. I had no idea if this was a huge issue or a small one. I called Mr. Handyman and the staff is so very professional. They explain how they work and how much it costs by the hour. They sent Amir who was very kind and professional. He showed up on time. He worked quite quickly. He found the problem, bought the parts, and fixed my issue. He had to come back to grout as the tiles needed to dry. He showed up on time the second time and also worked quickly. Luckily the issue was just in the baseboard and Amir explained how the damage happened and made sure to seal everything well. They are licensed and insured and all the workers have a minimum of 15 years of experience. I felt very safe hiring them. I am happy with the end result. Thank you, Mr. Handyman and Amir!

However, we would not recommend their service, unless for emergency because of the the lack of transparancy with the fees and charges. We were quoted $800 + materials for a job that actually took 4 hours, and they charged us the higher amount rather than adjust our fee to the actual time, which was much less than quoted by the administrative person based on a picture that we sent. It's clear that they are looking to make a quick dollar and not retain customers!.

Bill is very knowledgable, especially when it came to actually building this addition. He knew every single code off the top of his head and would come by almost every morning to go over the day's plan with his guys. "This goes here, that goes there, make sure these get lag bolted and these get hurricane tied, etc." It was amazing to watch him work his powers. His guys were super friendly, hard working, and showed up on time every morning at 7:30 on the nose. The final product came out fantastic, and we have had zero issues. He even lined up the blue board and plastering to be done while we were on vacation. We left with just studs and came home to freshly plastered walls! Overall I can't say enough good things about Bill and the McKenzie Group. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of a reputable, professional contractor.

He communicated with us throughout the project of installing a new Timberteck deck. His crew worked straight on through from start to finish without empty lapses of time. The men are so highly skilled. We continue to be happy with our beautiful deck. Therefore, we asked Ruy to install a Timberteck stair rail at our front doors, which also has withstood the test of time. We'd been concerned that installments like this would compromise the brick, whereby requiring a total rebuild, but a rebuild wasn't necessary. He also advise us on an easy and effective fix to divert water from flowing from the gutter and freezing to ice on those brick steps in winter. Based on the outcome of these projects, and our experience in their progression, we highly recommend this company.

They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.
