A place for me. Remember the address? Think of Modern Method Records! When I lived in Natick, I went to this store due to proximity; but whilst in university I frequented The Garage almost daily. Slowly in the 1990s vinyl succumbed to CD. The offerings became less and less. Japanese anime, clothing, and plastic bobble heads became the norm. Virgin and Tower also died a slow cancerous death. Newbury, is like an old friend. Meh. Still a decent store, the spirit is still there even though the Do It Yourself flavor, feeling, and attitude of Let Them Eat Jellybeans is not.

I recently got into collecting vinyl after picking up a new turntable, and while I had some extra…read moretime in Natick, I decided on a whim to see if there was a local record store nearby. The first time I stopped by, it was closed, but I called anyway. Eleni answered, and she couldn't have been kinder. She's hard of hearing, but she was incredibly warm, enthusiastic, and genuinely excited to open up and help me find the kinds of records I was looking for. I'm really glad I went back. The selection was great, and what stood out even more was the atmosphere. A couple of other people were there chatting, helping her out, and digging through records of their own. It felt like a true neighborhood record store where people gather because they love music. That's getting harder to find these days. If you're in the area and enjoy vinyl, it's absolutely worth a visit. Just remember to bring cash, because it's cash only. Small businesses like this deserve the support.

I absolutely love this bookstore! It's absolutely adorable and has adult books as well as kids…read morebooks. They also have tons of cute gifts, funny stickers, puzzles etc. They run different monthly bookclubs and I love the romance one. Mary is so nice and it is really fun! Finally, a real local, independent bookstore in Natick! This is a sweet little store, with a very…read morenice selection of books, especially for its size. They have a good-sized selection of kids books (for a store of its size), so it's a good place to bring the kiddos. While it's right on Main Street in downtown Natick, you might miss it if you're driving, since, although it says Ten Trees Books on the door (window?), the big lettering on the building says "The Hive." The store is still kind of in its early days, I think, with plans to add events and such in the works, according to Kim, it's owner, with whom I've had a couple of very friendly conversations. They do currently host a Classics Book Group on the first Thursday evening of the month, but I'm not sure if they have any other book groups yet. I look forward to watching them grow and hope they're able to thrive....I know it's tough for independent bookstores in this day and age, but I also know that Natick is the kind of town to have the type of people who will try and support it. If you live in, or are visiting, Natick and you like books, I heartily recommend checking it out!
