The delivery people said the connector hose was incorrect - without ever looking inside the box- and left the dishwasher in its crate in our living room. Stephan who had completed his work and cleaned up took pity on us.. He stepped up to the plate and worked us into his schedule later in the day. Returned, installed the new dishwasher and removed the packing and took it and the old dishwasher to the dump. Efficient, polite and a pleasure to have in our home. We'd use him again.

I should have asked all those questions like, how much, how many men, have you done this before, references please? But I didn't. When I approached him on this project last year, he said he could do the job, that in fact he could do anything. I sent him photos and description of the item to review then I asked him to walk the job to be sure the project was feasible. He refused saying as long as it fits it will be good. *****I got several estimates, all around the same, 2 men, 4-5 hours and 5 to $600. He was charming and self confident.. 1st red flag! When I asked if he could pick up and deliver the item from Costco he said no problem. I offered to pay for his trip and again he said "that's Ok" I live right there, which implied to me "no fee". No other contractor has ever charged me to pick up things that I can't. He then sent his partner ( brother) to install the item. Later he showed up and was very testy with his brother/partner/hire. Stephan was verbally annoyed that he had to stay and help him. It was clearly a 2 man job from beginning to end but after an hour he left his brother to do it alone saying to me "you don't want to pay 2 men, do you? He never made clear that 2 men would be double the price. But after listening to his brother cough every 5 minutes, get increasing slower and weaker, I called Stephan to tell him. He was so rude that he said if I didn't like it to get someone else to finish the job. He tried to gaslight me into believing I was hearing and seeing things. After which he said his brother was worse yesterday. Who puts an obviously ill man on a job clearly meant for two people? Actually Stepan's personality changes concerned me. He agreed to come back the next day by himself to finish the job. Then presented me with the bill. I paid it only under duress because I wanted him out of my home. He said he wouldn't charge me for his brother's time ( lack) but he charged $310 for delivery. ( all other estimates I received were under $100. ) . Then he added an extra hour from the delivery charge to the (2) hours he said he was here helping his brother. Again it is my fault for not getting an itemized estimate of charges ( which he would have known if he actually had done the same job in the past), How many people, their fee, extra fees, and time? No, he was not forthcoming in his pricing. But again, my fault for not asking but .......So if you are thinking of hiring him get everything in writing and make him commit to what he says because I found that his memory will change. ***** After installing the posts and anchoring them, he said to me " I can't guarantee the posts will stay because they are anchored into pavers and the pavers will come up in an earthquake. WOW. If only he wasn't so arrogant about being able to do anything and just walked the job before hand......
