Came here for the first time tonight and was pleasantly surprised. We used to frequent another Mexican restaurant in town until they closed, and Chelan is pretty limited when it comes to options. We came in around 4:30 hoping to avoid any rush of tourists also looking for a dinner option, it was only half full and bustling with lots of wait staff. It's pretty small and with the bar occupying a good portion of space it's a little tight. We were seated right away and offered chips and two kinds of salsa, a red salsa and a tomatillo salsa. Both were on the spicier side, the tomatillo a little creamy and very acidic. I wish the red salsa was a little more flavorful with more distinguishable chunks of onion, tomato, etc., it was a little on the thin side. For mains my hubby opted for the tacos al carbon and I went with the mole poblano enchiladas. My hubbys tacos were good, he really liked the flavor of the tortillas (which are advertised as made in house). It came with the typical rice and beans, a little bit more flavorful than most joints. The portions were also a generous size for the price. I really enjoyed the mole enchiladas, they were full of tender chunk white meat chicken and topped with a sweet and savory mole sauce, thick and rich, one of the better versions I've had. Was topped with onion, I thought it said Crema as well, but didn't appear to have any. All in all this is a really solid option for Chelan, with pretty good Mexican food. I got food to go from here, I ordered and chicken taco salad in the shell. I got back to my hotel and there was only lettuce, salsa and beans in it. I was starving so I ate it anyways, it was late at night I had been driving all day and I didn't feel like going back.... I make it half way through the salad and I bit down on a rock!!! YES A ROCK! I couldn't believe it!!! The salad was so gross and bland and very watery. Then to top it off almost broke my tooth off. I paid 11$ for the salad and tipped 3$ on top of it. Blah!! Firstly, we waited 15 mins (waitress said 20 mins till our table was ready) she comes back and says they accidentally gave our table away. So it'll be another 20 mins. Mmmk. Whatever. Decent Mexican food. Nothing I had was over the top- the chips were a little burned and the salsa wasn't great, but it wasn't bad, either. The chile relleno was also ok. Had dinner with my boyfriend there while visiting Chelan for the first time. The waiting list wasn't bad, we had to wait for like 15mins. I like the food but just not the service. I had to change my meal twice because they don't have some of the ingredient that supposed to be in the meal. I would go back to give it try again but not when they busy hour.. read more

The most important thing I want to comment on is the drinks. This place has amazing margaritas and tons of selection. The food is also delicious we enjoyed ceviche, shrimp, mushrooms, nachos, and guacamole. However, there is something very particular that makes me give this place five stars. The restroom has a baby changing table. I absolutely love to see a restaurant that includes a baby changing station. This changes everything. read more

But once we took a bite, we immediately regretted judging the plates by their looks! The steak in the carne asada is the most juicy and tender steak I have had in a taco! The tostada shell was a little soggy due to all the goodies on top; it's messy but the flavor combination totally works. We spent $20 for dinner and we're totally full - chips and salsa we're complimentary, and portion size was generous. Take it from someone who actually lives in Mexico half of every year. This is one of the more authentic Mexican restaurants I have been to north of the border. Marcela and her family's recipes are fresh and delicious, served with freshly handmade corn tortillas, the way real Mexican food should be. Anybody who has left a bad review saying this is not authentic, you have no idea what actual Mexican food is supposed to taste like. If you're looking for deep fried, oversized hot plates, then Marcela's is not for you. This place was unbelievably amazing at accommodating our group of 18 people. They deserve 5 stars just for that. I'd highly recommend if you have a larger group. For our second visit we had a good experience. Pros: There was no wait for a table & we ordered promptly. The Chicken Chipotle was great, as well as the Arroz Con Pollo. Huge portions. Cons: We ordered $9-$11 drinks. The Mai Thai was terrible and the rest of the drinks were average. The Pollo A La Crema was okay, but the cheese sauce tasted quite fake. We went on an August Wednesday night so the food came very very quickly. When we've visited on a weekend it was a different experience. For the price of the meals & drinks it could've been better. If I could give zero stars I would. First off they just pack people in. We were here for my friends bachelorette party and they shoved us in a 200 sq ft space with 30 other people upstairs. Took 30 minutes to get our drinks. Asked for a straw and they brought the straw in their hand and put straight into our drink (GROSS). Ordered chicken fajitas, steak fajitas and fish tacos. The steak fajitas were okay, but ordered with fries and brought with an orange on top. The chicken fajitas were not done. The vegetables were uncooked as was the meat. The fish tacos had a small piece of fish. Couldn't even find it under the Cole slaw. Talked to the manager and she seemed unsympathetic. WILL not return. I give this restaurant five stars for being a great example of a moderately priced, family oriented Mexican restaurant. Got a little tired of Seattle's rain, so early May I snuck over the hill for a couple days in Chelan. Marcelas got good reviews on Yelp, so I checked it out. Older building in "downtown" Chelan, about a block from the lake, one street parking right in front. Inside had a high ceiling, very light and airy, a comfortable place to eat. Service was fine; attentive without being overly intrusive. I was starved so I had both an appetizer of guac and chips + their largest combo plate, a typical combination (choose from 6-8 entrees, plus beans and rice on the side). My entire meal was fresh and tasty. I'm a Big Guy but was stuffed when I finished; they didn't skimp on quantity. I'm not a Mexican food gourmet, but I enjoyed my meal. Saw several families enjoying dinner with kids of various ages; everyone looked satisfied. This isn't the fanciest or most pretentious Mexican restaurant I've ever visited, but I'll certainly come back. read more
