Marcus is my go-to theater in the area, even though it really isn't that close to my home. Of course the primary reason I go is that they host a lot of the Fathom Events I love, namely the Met Operas. However, it is also one of the nicest cinemas I've been in. And I'm not just talking about the plush recliner seats they have in a lot of the auditoriums now. I mean nice as in "I think they give the staff happy pills' since they are some of the friendliest people I've ever met, especially for working in a cinema. Sure, there might be one or two people you run into who are typical of customer service in a theater - that is to say polite and efficient but not enthusiastic - but the majority seem genuinely happy to see you and anxious that you enjoy the show. ...Maybe it's the opera thing? The time of day I usually go? I don't know, but I'm always happily surprised by just how friendly the people are. The only complaint I have, such as it is, regards the super tight restrooms. The stalls are just not long enough to permit you to turn around without straddling the loo...which can be difficult for us ladies who like long skirts. I also want to note that they are now getting a full bar and restaurant with sandwiches and pizza. The prices are not as insane as I would have expected either. I admit that the alcohol part doesn't thrill me exactly, since I hate what having alcohol in even a live theater does to the audience (ever had booze spilled down your coat by a loud, drunken lout with bad breath who has to sing along with the musical you are watching? It's not fun.) However, for those super long shows I sometimes attend, I could see really liking having something to eat that isn't just overpriced popcorn or nachos. read more

I can't believe I had to go ask the staff at 9:15 AM to start the movie that was supposed to start at 9:00 AM. No advertisements, no trailers, and no movie. Another patron complained at 9:08 AM. It's now 9:25 AM and still no movie. Never had that happen before. I guess it's time to get my money back and see it at another time, at another theater. read more

Took my son to the movies and what I saw was top notch service. Went to see Spiderman 2 in 3 D (it sucked, that's a whole other review) We got there a little early - ventured into arcade. Change machine couldn't dispense $5 worth of quarters ($5 was janki) one of the theater Maître d pointed me to another machine and said he would inform the manager - not that I really cared but.... ok. Got in line to get refreshments for movie (not going to go into what that cost cuz it's the norm now to pay an arm and leg for any theater junk food/drinks?) Anyway, remember that $5 for the arcade? I dropped it by accident while standing in line to get junk food. The Maître d who I first talked to passes by me and goes "Sir, you must of dropped this?" and gave me my $5 back to me! I gave him the $5 for being very cool. That was pretty much how the whole staff were that night - they were money. From the ticket person to the guy picking up the trash on the ground. Ok, movie chairs that recline is sweet. Comfortable movie chairs that recline that have food trays is a whole new level of awesomeness. Went to see the Shakira Eldorado Tour movie yesterday. I got tickets online (which was a process itself) and was expecting a concert-like experience. However, the theater in which the movie was playing had very poor sound. I even left the theater during the show to inquire about it. It was briefly made surround but still very low db. Maybe my expectations of this remodeled theater were too high, but I hoped for at least the sound quality of a mediocre film. On the plus side, the movie was great & the seats were comfortable. read more

Their online reservation system allowing you to pick your seat and reserve it for the movie is fantastic. Seats are comfortable, spacious, and recline. The theatre is clean and the lines for the concession stands move pretty quick. There is a nice small bar in the theatre as well. read more

I grew up at this theater and it's the perfect place to watch that one movie you just can't watch on your home TV like, X-men Days of Future Past. They renovated the seats about a year ago, and let's say I'll never drive to Easton Towne Center again for a movie. All of their movie screens have new seating and Easton does not. Also, they have $5 specials on Tuesdays. All movies are $5 and they just started a customer loyalty program for their all the time movie-goer. I would say this is by far one of the best places to catch a movie. read more

My favorite theatre in Columbus! Being a student, I can't beat the discounted price. The screens are top notch and after I sat in the seats, my girlfriend and I refuse to sit in regular movie theatre seats now. The reserved seating is awkward if you're paying at the theatre and feel rushed making a decision but if you want to pay ahead and have a favorite section of the theatre to sit in, I'd say it's not that bad. Even though it's not the closest theatre to come here, I still drive out of my way to come here. Godzilla on the ultra screen blew me away. The sound and scale of the screen was perfect. read more

I had stopped going to this place years ago like I'm sure many locals did....especially after Rave opened at Polaris. A friend mentioned to me that they had done some renovations recently and that they had new seats in the theaters much like the reserve theaters at Easton. I went to check it out and was pleasantly surprised by the other changes they have made here. They have also added a bar and a lounge area with a huge projection screen and flat screens. Seems like an awesome area to chill have have a few while you wait for your movie to start. I heard they are also adding a restaurant. This place brings back so many memories from childhood and I am glad to see them keeping it current and relevant. read more

I had a very enjoyable experience here today. My husband and I originally intended to go to an early morning showing of the Hunger Games at Dublin Village, but basically all of the showings they had this morning were sold out before 9:30am haha. So we hopped over to Marcus, and I'd have to say that it was a great experience. The theater was very nice inside, and the seats were incredibly cozy. This theater is probably one of the top ones in the area but unfortunately it is often passed over by most people since it isn't attached to a mall and the general area seems to be on the decline. This could also be a good thing if you want to avoid the crowds. The projectors are always in great shape, the seats are very comfy and the popcorn is top notch and always fresh. They do have an Ultra Screen (not an IMAX) and if there is ever a problem the staff has no issues with making it right. read more

Clean, convenient for the north end of the city, and less expensive than Rave that is only about three miles away. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Marcus was even better when Stauf's coffee was next door a few years back. For seating comfort, theater temperature, and sound and noise levels, all are maintained in a range that does not detract from the show presentation. This place seems a bit worn around the edges as my latest experience at the 'Woods was not good on so many levels. The movie "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Venegence" was one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time and I even love bad movies. Aside from my opinion on the movie the theater this was being shown in had awful sound problems and after the movie had started after the previews had run, the side scrims(curtains) on each side of the screen didn't retract. Finally one of my friends had to go fetch someone to come in and manually retract the scrims. For the prices we shovel out for 3D (which was the worst 3D movie I have ever seen, i.e. "lens flare" as a major 3D effect over and over) I expect my viewing experience to take me out of the theater and into the movie. Crosswoods fails on this unless you're going to see something on the "Ultra Screen" take a pass here. I know i'll be sticking with movies at the Polaris rave from now on. read more

Honestly, the best thing about this theater is the fact that it's rarely that crowded. I feel bad for saying that, but its true. There's a cool acting troupe that comes for premiers for some movies, though, which is an experience. They set up a huge scenario and come dressed up (really well) as the characters. The theater has the occasional really awful boff, but they usually make up for it. There was a particular time when they started playing Prince Caspian instead of Iron Man. You've got a very confusing first few minutes there before you realize its the wrong movie. read more

One of my favorite movie theaters in Columbus. This place is never super packed and always pretty laid back. They have comfy reclining seats and a fully stocked concession stand. I've been here for 2 opening day movies and it's been quite relaxed both times. Finally there is a bar in the waiting area with decent prices in case you want to drink up before or during the movie. 4 stars because I don't think they serve you at your seat, which, IMO, is fine. read more

My wife and I went to this theater last night. I was very disappointed. The popcorn was very stale. The drink area was dirty and sticky. When we found our reserved seats my wife sat in nacho cheese that was smeered on the seat. We had to try 4 different seats before we found a pair that wasn't sticky. The men's room was filthy and smelled like urine...that was due to the urine all over the floor in front of each urinal. Just not a good experience. read more

Best movie theatre I've ever been to! The dream lounger seats are sooo comfy with plenty of room and a button to lean back with your feet up. The food is pretty good too - my go-to is the meatball sub. Smartest times to go are on Tuesdays and Thursday's when they do $5 tickets (Thursday is college ID night though). read more

I'm an idiot. While ordering tickets online for tonight's showing of The Hobbit I completely missed the new seating set-up (which is super comfy) and the whole assigned seats thing. We ended up in the front row which is just not a great situation for my mom and pretty much guaranteed a splitting headache before the movie would even be over (some seats in the back went untouched and she was able to enjoy it). My sister went to the lobby to politely comment/complain about the mix-up (which was also derailing other patrons' holiday movie plans) and after the movie the manager (I think?) on duty refunded our ticket prices and threw us some movie passes as well. It was totally unnecessary, especially after the refund, but it really made our night. She went all-out customer service-wise and my family and I really appreciated it. I usually never use Yelp for this but it bears mentioning. Whoever you are, beautiful redheaded gold-shirted theater manager, thank you. read more

The venue feverishly self-promotes during the previews, but the Ultra-Screen (a former IMAX Auditorium) is a hell of an experience especially since they installed the new recliner seats. Crosswoods is a hell of a theater (probably THE best in central Ohio) and I highly recommend it. read more

I love this theater! All of the updates have been fabulous! my only complaint was when I went to order tickets online through Flixster and wasn't able to choose my own seats. The theater places you where they want. If you don't pick up your tickets quickly you do not get to pick your seat. And I went to go pick up my tickets I had to cancel my transaction and repurchase the tickets in order to pick where I wanted to sit. read more

I gave a 2 star review a year or so ago but it was a bad experience that has proven to be an isolated incident. I do recommend this place however I would recommend extra time due to construction and traffic in the area or you might miss your show. Not their fault just growing area. read more
