The level of care and individual attention is above and beyond anywhere else I have experienced with my dogs. The facility is clean with lots of opportunity for dogs to have play time with other dogs as well as supervised individual outside time. There are professional trainers and training available for your puppy or dog if you would like that option. The entire staff is exceptional in their communication and willingness to help in any way they can. All in all for anyone who really cares about the well being of their dog while away this is the best place for them as well as ones own comfort level leaving them at a boarding facility. I went in to look at the golden retriever puppies. I wanted to get a dog that was trained and I love golden retrievers! Since this place claims to also train their dogs, I thought it was perfect. But unfortunately, when I asked to take a tour of the grounds, they wouldn't let me. I inquired and they gave me some excuse that it wasn't safe. I looked through the gate and could see the kennels in the back. They looked black and muddy, and it smelled like sewage. The puppy golden retrievers coming out were covered in black mud looking slime and they smelled like poop! OMG! This is a shady business that seems overwhelmed with dogs. read more

I went with my sister and husband to view a few puppies at their location and I advise anyone to stay away from here! Unorganized and dirty! First off the lady whom my sister scheduled the time with forgot we had an appointment she had some Deena girl rush and clean the puppy up, by the way this girl as well as another fully tattooed gentlemen were the only ones to greet us and ask if they could help us multiple times. Everyone else was rude or sitting in the office while some toddler was free roaming around while our appointment was going (pulling on dogs and being very loud screaming). The yards were gross and the older lady who was helping my sister was so spaced out and uneducated in her information about the puppies. The dog had an obvious cough and was sick she proceeded to tell my sister and her husband that she just needed water yet never went to get the dog any. While you have your appointment the employees (whom were there pajamas to work) are constantly walking through with other dogs it distracts the puppy and stops the interaction with the older lady. It's also very loud while this process is going it's constant chaos. The building is grimy and the supposed owner doesn't even acknowledge you and he seems to not take pride in his facility at all. In all my sister didn't end up getting a dog from here due to this experience and I don't blame her. I felt gross leaving there. They obviously try to sell this prestige image of themselves online but when you actually get there no one (other than the two I mentioned) acknowledges you or are rude and the cleanliness is below pitiful. read more

Margale is a great place to board your dog. I have been boarding my 8 year old Labrador Retriever since he was a puppy. My new Labrador puppy enjoys Margale too. Margale Resort is like Disneyland for dogs. The staff treats my dogs like family. They give them plenty of love, attention, and exercise. Sometimes the dogs will hang out in the office so they can be around people. Margale is a good value for the money. One time I did not bring enough food for the stay and they did not charge extra for the food. If you bring vitamins for the dogs, they do not charge extra to administer the vitamins. Socialization is part of the stay. If my dogs get along well with another dog, they will have plenty of supervised play time. Shelley trained my older dog and is currently training my younger dog. Shelley is like a dog psychologist and knows how to get the most out of the dogs. Her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) class is like a CGC plus class as she trains them well beyond the CGC requirements. She makes absolutely sure that the dogs are well trained and I always get compliments about how well behaved my dogs are even though they are energetic Labradors. read more

We bought our Golden Ellie over a year ago and have always brought her back for her "vacation" when ever we travel. It is worth the 40 minute drive from Canyon lake. The staff is great and she is always happy to see them. We love the secluded, large open facility and all the areas they have for the dogs to play, and we like that they have staff on the property 24 hours a day. She always comes home health and happy and with a fresh groom, or sometimes a fancy show groom. read more

I'll start this by saying that we came to this groomer knowing that our dogs front right foot had a nail that needed to be looked at by the vet. While dropping our dog off for her grooming we noted on the order form to not trim her nails or express her anal glands. She had surgery 6 months ago to remove a tumor there. We prefer to have our vet do that and she needed to have her nail looked at...we started to pull out of the driveway and thought to call them and make sure they understand to not touch her nails. They agreed. Now when I come to pick her up the first thing the owner says is, "sorry, I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to dremal her nails...but she isn't bleeding so she should be okay." He was apologetic so I brushed it off and believed him. When I got her to the car I took a look and noticed the she was in fact bleeding and her quick was very exposed. After some long discussion and poor excuses on why they didn't listen to our request they finally offered to refund my money...not what I want, I wanted my dog to get the service I requested. Not for her to get hurt or me to lies about the damage. Fast forward an hour to my wife and I finally getting home ...only to notice that a ton of blood is now all over our floors and couch. See attached photos. After looking further I noticed that her back right paw was also bleeding, A TON, and that her nail was taken almost all the way back. See attached photo. This is really unacceptable. 4 hours, 300$ for vet bills and my dog is in extreme pain. Avoid this place at all costs. The owner even stated how he is a "competitor" of the breeder we got our dog from. They clearly don't care about the dogs well being. If they did they would have listened. Instead they made excuses and tried to hide her pain. read more

You're dogs are just another number here it seems. Seems more like a breeding place then dog boarding place with the amount of litters they have everywhere. Dropped our dogs off and were told that if we wanted an update or a photo to just call. Having a dog that isn't as comfortable ad our other lab we asked for a photo and we're met with " I am heading out now, text me in the morning for a photo". We texted in the morning and we're met with the response "will do after morning rush".....never got a photo or an update. We decided to cut our trip short and pick them up early. We had a horrible experience. They called us within an hour or two of dropping our dog off and said that she had bit someone. This is a lab who has NEVER bit anyone in her entire life. When we went to get her, no trainer was on site. We walked into a dark office with our dog and a chain-link cage with no water. She was breathing heavily and drooling. Wow! We boarded my husky, Quinoa, at Margale for 2 weeks while my family and I were on vacation in Europe. My sister and mom went to check it out before to see how they liked it and came back with nothing but smiles. They loved how the staff were so attentive to owners and puppos alike! Such a happy vibe here, with golden retrievers being trained at every turn. Originally we were expecting to simply board her for 2 weeks, but it was suggested by the staff that we do the puppy version that includes some training. The difference in cost was pretty minimal, but wow, so worth it! Quinoa is a good girl, but she was a rescue from a family who didn't have much time for her, so she picked up some naughty habits as most doggies do. We've been working on some things with her, but she would tend to nip at us when she would get worked up and excited, and she would jump on us when we had grub, either for her to eat or just for ourselves. Needless to say, she needed to learn some manners, and our plan was to get some training when we got back from vacation (for both her and ourselves) so that she could be the best puppo she can be! So basically, we came back to such a well behaved lady and were in such shock! No more jumping, no crazy erratic nipping, and where did all this patience come from? I've fallen in love with my little girl all over again! Not only were the Margale staff very quick to respond to our calls and emails while we were in Europe, they also sent us a detailed email and followed up with more info on a phone call letting us know what she learned and what they taught her, so that we could make sure we make her training worthwhile. Margale Pet Resort is amazing! Let's start with the puppies. They had the cutest Golden Retriever puppies. I played with all of them and enjoyed their soft fur and puppy breath. So cute that all of them would have ended up in my car if I didn't already have a dog who is extremely jealous. The resort is fairly large, clean and nicely landscaped/organized. The various dogs that are boarded appeared well taken care of and their kennels were extremely roomy and clean. There is even a yard where they play. They offer grooming and training. I believe you can purchase trained puppies (probably a long waiting list, given how cute those puppies were) or bring your puppy in for training. The workers were nice and obviously love all of the dogs. I was really surprised that the workers knew all of the dogs' names! Surprised because there were a LOT of dogs. Overall, this is a great place to find a pup, get your pup trained and groomed, or have your pup do an overnight. read more

I boarded 3 of my dogs (AmStaff, American Bully and chihuahua) at Margale for 6 days and I honestly could not be any happier with the service my dogs and I received. The property is absolutely beautiful, all areas very clean and every single dog on the property looked 10/10 condition and all very happy. The staff is incredible, and definitely "dog people"- meaning they loved on our dogs in the way that I do. I have waited far to long to write this review for such a great place . First of all the staff is amazing from Alan and Shelly to every trainer and animal caretaker they love your animal like there own . The Facility itself is very nice and well accommodating it's set back in the mountains of Bonsall so it's private and peaceful. They have A few shaded large corrals to let your dog Run around in a couple of times a day. They also have air condition buildings And will put your pet according to its personality in the right spot. I have two Bullmastiffs that were there in 2017 for 30 days while I waited for my house to close escrow. I Couldn't have put them anywhere else that I would've felt this comfortable. Then again this summer I set my female there for six weeks. She is naturally dog aggressive and she came back and completely new dog she was exposed to other animals and several puppies and came back with a completely different attitude. They have plenty of staff a grooming facility on site and most of all they are competent welcoming and friendly, I visited my dog weekly and saw the care that she got I was very impressed and I knew that she was in the right place, I highly recommend Margales . read more

Go to Margale Pet Resort they said. Buy a dog they said. I spent 20,000 on a 'trained' dog. Yet he repeatedly crapped on my carpet every 5 seconds. He can't crap on command, he cant sit, roll over, or hunt. What use is this dog to me? I forgot to mention I had to pay an overpriced wash of $75 which I'll never understand. In the end I decided to return this useless dog and get my money back from this crappy pet resort. Boss by the name of Alan told me come back tomorrow I'd get my refund. I return the next day, the dog is nowhere to be seen. Alan proceeds to go on this rant which was completely unintelligible because I cant understand bullsh*t, but basically says no money for you. He does offer me some chili tho and I will say it was pretty fire. As I'm walking around eating my chili with meat I cannot identify, I find a kiddy pool behind the building with the remains of my dog, he was missin some limbs. Anyways service was terrible I wouldnt recommend this place but they make absolute BOMB chili, 10/10. read more

My mother-in-law needed her elderly dog boarded while we all went up north to my son's wedding. Kota needs medication and is not great around other dogs. Margale treated her like a queen and was very understanding with my MIL's memory issues. Kota came home groomed and spiffed up. As a professional pet sitter, I was nervous about boarding my puppy at a kennel as I am very picky about pet care but had to at the last minute due to a trip we needed to take. From my first phone call to our pick up, we were impressed with the service and facilities. They have us a tour in advance and right off, we noticed how happy the dogs seemed. No lunging and barking! The facilities were clean. Drop off was smooth and our puppy was happy getting to play with other puppies. When we picked her up, she seemed happy and Alan walked us through some of the training and socialization she received at no cost. When she got home, she was like a different dog. Not as hyper and no more potty accidents. She did have a bout of poops which Alan offered a visit to the vet for and the results came back negative for anything. He picked up the tab for the vet visit. I am impressed with the professionalism of Alan and his staff!
