I wanted to give 2.5 stars. I think she is a good enough doctor in that she knows what she's talking about with your eyes, but she definitely has an attitude problem. She told me I was required by law to take a picture at her office for the medical record, but I work at a doctor's office and have friends that do, too; plus, they copy your ID (which has your picture), so that made no sense to me. She was so upset that I had initially declined that she was rambling on about it during our time in the office, and then followed it by "I can't believe I'm wasting my time explaining this. It's the law." I had simply been sitting there listening to her go on and on, so that comment just made me laugh. Anyway, she gave me my script for my glasses and didn't force me to get my glasses there. She gave me some cost-effective and transportation-effective alternatives, which I appreciated and eventually used. I think the fact that there are several reviews with limited English is simply because she caters heavily to a Chinese-speaking base. It's probably different people with English as a second language who were impressed negatively enough to want to share their opinion. Her office is very conveniently located for me, so despite the less-than-stellar impression made, I would return for my annual eye exam. read more

!!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE !!!!!! 0 STARS Nobody wanted to give this woman the benefit of the doubt more than me, but please read the reviews here and on Google- or literally anywhere. Each of my visits here were absolutely HORRENDOUS. Expect to wait MORE THAN AN HOUR in an exam room alone- that's JUST waiting to be seen. An hour wait (PAST YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME) to be seen is typical here. PARKING only covers up to 1 hour. YOU will be covering the remaining balance. Extremely unprofessional and likely due to the blatant disorganization present in each room. For the larger issues: She will not only LAY HER HANDS on you during exams- like shoving your head towards the machinery to look at your eyes. She will VERBALLY ABUSE you and her own staff. The staff is comprised of kind front desk workers and a kind single assistant. They DO NOT deserve the ABUSE this dr forces upon them and the high turnover of this office reflects that. She gave me expired contacts- when I returned them to exchange them for unexpired, wearable contacts, she had an extreme TANTRUM as it seemed she didn't have any that weren't expired. When I asked about my glasses prescription- prescription that was given to me from dr cheung, (I'm severely nearsighted, she gave me a prescription that seemed to be for another patient), she had an even BIGGER TANTRUM- going as far as to screaming that I should become an eye dr myself and storming out of the room to yell at the staff AND nearby patients. This woman is truly a 3-year-old in an 70-year-old body. Anyone who has already experienced this type of mistreatment from her should call their insurance ASAP. File a grievance, but NOT BEFORE making sure she hasn't billed your insurance for treatment you never received!! (Happened in another review). There is something very off-putting about the way she practices and I definitely wouldn't be surprised if she was trying to milk our insurance at the same time. Please do your own research and READ THE REVIEWS. I wouldn't send my friends or family here, not even my worst enemy. This woman needs professional help and possibly medication. No amount of compensation could ever get me to return to this office. I will be awaiting a defensive and entirely untrue employee-typed response (Dr Cheungs MO). read more

My mom was referred to Dr Cheung after her other eye doctor couldn't figure out why she was having vision problems. Dr. Cheung was thorough and on point with her diagnosis. Along with her super friendly office staff, she performed cataract surgery on my mom's eyes and now mom doesn't even need her reading glasses. AMAZING! Dr. Cheung is very good in her field and her honest, no nonsense demeanor offers patients straightforward and easy to understand answers to all their questions. The experience here is awful enough that I remember it years later, I would not recommend this practice to anyone. There were things that happened during my time here that were malpractice. I got my glasses in office when I saw Dr Cheung and the lens were always rounded up and it was passed off as normal even though it was causing warping in my vision. As a result, my eyes have gotten extremely worse during my time seeing Dr Cheung. She would blame me for eye problems I was having despite most of my problems stemming from factors out of my control. A relative came to her for a surgical procedure, woke up halfway through, and was not sedated for a period of time. My mental health had never been worse than when I had to see Dr Cheung, because most visits involved her being in a bad mood. The waits would take extremely, extremely long, and she blamed me for problems and I would be dismissed for asking questions about my own health. She treats you well only if you do not ask questions and if you fawn over her directions. My eyes could have been so much better had my prescription lenses not been rounded up. The only good things here are the reception staff, the bilingual environment, and that Dr Cheung is helpful in getting medication. I would avoid at all costs. I also don't approve of how she is fighting with clients in the reviews here and sometimes revealing sensitive information. It really isn't doing favors for bedside manners. read more

I don't recommend this doctor for anyone with special needs. During my brother's appointment today, she grabbed his head and face because he was not responding to her directions. At a previous appointment, I explained that he is hard of hearing, has sensory issues with sounds, and is medically disabled. She was becoming frustrated that he was not responding quick enough. Today his aide had to step in after grabbing his head and explain that was abusive and inappropriate. He is not able to explain or relay events so if the aide did not report this abuse would have continued. The nurses were great with him and use basic human decency and appropriate accommodations. I'm filing a complaint with the hospital. read more

My Mother and I both go to Dr Margaret Cheung for our eye care. We love and appreciate her and her friendly staff. We were referred to Dr Cheung because she is very knowledgeable in her field. She always answers our questions thoroughly and we trust her advice. Her expertise and eye treatments helped each of us a lot with our conditions. 5 Stars well-deserved! read more

I've been going to Dr. Cheung since 1999. Great Doctor, great staff. Never had a problem with her or her services. Had 2 cataract surgeries done by her with great results. Referred by my PCP. It's been a long time since I had an eye exam. Walking in, staff was pleasant as I was running a little behind. Dr. Cheung was nice, informative, and thorough during my examination. She took the time to ask about my history. Put my mind at ease. Staff will tell you first initial visit is 2 hours. LOL, I wouldn't come on here to complain against her and nitpick at everything if the visit went smoothly. Wow. Really sad. She treats her staff horribly. I feel really bad for them being treated like that. Especially in front of patients. I am a lazy yelper that usually just post pictures but I somehow feel obligated to warn people about this lady. She has some serious attitude issues. She simply yells at her staffs and even patients. Her staffs are all sweet and smiling, even when she's yelling at them. It just saddens me. I was out to the waiting room and chatting with another patient who got yelled at as well. She is a very rude doctor and I will not see her again. She was not happy about my request for a eye prescription and not buying the glasses at her office. Became downright mean about it. Had me wait in the patient's room for an hour while I listen to her complain about her phone system not working. Others were not happy as well and I encourage everyone to post their honest opinion. In addition, she was very rude to a service person that was trying to replace a florescence light in her office. My eye doctor referred me to Dr. Cheung for my uveitis as that is her specialty. My doc remarked that she had a sharp personality. I thought that was a bit strange, but after seeing the other reviews it made sense. Consequently I was a bit apprehensive going in, but Im happy to say I was very pleased with Dr. Cheung. She is terse, but I didn't find her rude or condescending like some doctors I've been to. I thought she was thorough and explained things sufficiently. I could see how her personality might be misinterpreted, but overall I thought the negative comments about her attitude were kinda overblown and probably wouldn't be such a major issue if she were a guy doctor. I did have to wait a bit, but it didn't really bother me as I got a late appointment and her town office is near my work. read more

This is probably the worst doctor I've ever met. If I could I would give her 0 star. I signed up for yelp just to warn others of how bad she is. My dad's insurance company scheduled him an appointment here for an eye exam. Came in early to fill out paperwork for him but still ending waiting a really long time. The exam and pre check up too up a total of 15 minutes but we spend another 45 minutes in the waiting room. And while I'm waiting all I hear is her complaining and putting down her staff. I feel really sorry for them. When we finally got to the exam room, we had to wait for another 10 minutes. As soon as the doctor walked into the room she immediate said that "he is old and have cataract, he need surgery. I won't make him glasses" right off the bat without even looking at his file on the computer. I told her that my dad's glasses were so old all the protective UV coating were gone and that he need to make a new one to protect his eyes when he go out. She just straight out say that glasses is not gonna help him. I told her that I know with cataract it won't help correct his vision but it would at least give him some protection from UV. She out right said "UV is not going to do anything." When I ask for a prescription, she won't give him one because she already dilated his eyes so she can't give him an exam. I will never go back to her ever again. Going to take him Dr. Tham or Modern Eye Optical for a proper eye exam. read more

They took her in to look at the letters and check her eyes but didn't bother to dilate them while she was in there? So now we are sitting here waiting for her to get called in to dilate her eyes and then we will have to wait another 30 or so minutes? This is ridiculous. I had my first appointment with her yesterday. After a very thorough examination, she referred me to a specialist because she doesn't perform the surgery I need. I will return to her for follow-up and for a new prescription for glasses after the surgery. I appreciate her straight-forward diagnosis and recommendations. Can't actually rate the doctors expertise. I had a 3:00 appointment. It's now after 4:00 and I have seven seen yet. I know she is a busy professional but so am I. I left work early for this and am stuck in a cramped lobby watching Moana and now Finding Dori. I am no pun intended sick of doctors that do this to their patients. Stay far away! This doctor is not only rude, but an idiot. I had my one and only appointment with Dr. Cheung in June, 2016. At this time I was covered by Tricare Prime. Come October, my husband and I leave the island and move back home on his terminal leave. He officially is retired from the Army in December. In APRIL, I get a bill from her at our new residence (10 months later). I call and was polite and explained that this should be covered under Tricare. Because they took so long to do billing, I was no longer enrolled in Tricare Prime, but instead Tricare Standard, which is why I received the bill. They said they would look into it and to disregard the bill. Recently, the last week of June 2017, I received a statement that says the charges were denied because it was a DUPLICATE claim. Now fast forward to today, July 6, 2017, I received another bill from Dr. Cheung (over a year after the appointment). I called the office again and explained the situation AGAIN. I made it clear that I am NOT paying this bill because of their idiocity. The woman I spoke to on the phone explained that Dr. Cheung does her own billing, and she often does not submit bills until a year later, and that Dr. Cheung is aware that this is often a problem. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I am NOT paying this bill. If she would have submitted billing ON TIME, there would be no charge for me, and it would have been taken care of by Tricare. This woman mis-diagnosed me with a "chronic" condition that I only endured for a few days at best. The symptoms later went away and I have not experienced any signs of said "chronic" condition since. She also told my then 7 month old baby to "BE QUIET!!!" since he was getting fussy (waiting almost an hour with me in the lobby) during my diagnosis. I agree with MIKE B. Margaret is an unprofessional doctor who has extremely bad bedside manner. I went with my elderly relative to see her as recommended by my relative's PCP. It was our first time meeting her and she was impatient and unnecessarily rude. I have never met a doctor who treats his/her patient so disrespectfully and rude, especially to an elderly patient. She didn't even greet us even after I greeted her; even the other bad bedside doctors that I have experienced greeted me. We were there to seek medical advices, not to have a verbal confrontation; it felt like she was arguing with me instead of explaining the medical condition and listening to our concerns. Her voice was full of hostility the moment she spoke to us...I have no idea why...she is just a very rude and mean doctor. After the consultation, she made a very rude and inappropriate comment with her staff...she told her staff she doesn't think we are going to come back, but go ahead and schedule a follow up appointment for us anyway...here's the kicker, she made this rude remark ALOUD with full knowledge that I was standing right there in front of them. It's appalling that she expected us to trust her and allow her to perform corrective eye surgery on my relative when she acted very unprofessional to us. She's so mean! She always yelled to the patients! I sent my clients to her because I am the care giver when I asked about the note if I can have she yelled on my face saying " I am doing it right now! Today!" Then I just sit down. When we finished I am asking the note then she put it in a wrong paper and told her assistant that I need to go back again to get a sign again cuz she wrote in a wrong paper. Then she yelled at me again saying " y u didn't explain it to me earlier?! I don't want u to come back just asking for note again!" Then I cried and told her that's ur job to make a note and sign..
