TO ANYONE ON A BUDGET WHO RELIES SOLELY ON THEIR DENTAL COVERAGE AND CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY ANY OUT…read moreOF POCKET: The Atlanta Dental Spa is located in my building so I was interested in cleaning/ preventative services out of convenience. Although the place looks nice and the staff seem nice, don't be deceived. My bf and i walked down and spoke with the front desk about an appt. I gave her my insurance and instructed her to notate in my chart that all services needed to be pre cleared with insurance before appt bc I am legally disabled, on a very limited fixed income, and could not afford anything not covered. At the end of Sept I spoke with the Insurance person, Lura, regarding my coverage. On the phone I also informed her about pre-clearing my services and she told me no problem. At the 1st of the month she ran my insurance and told me I was good to go. To me, this means that she called the insurance company and made sure the preventative services were covered. Otherwise I would've hoped that she'd advise me to find an in-network provider who did cover the care. But she didn't do that. Just a go ahead to come to the appt. Day of appt, I signed the forms, including the financial responsibility forms, under the assumption that I was pre-cleared for my services. Boy was I wrong. I received a $325 bill for services- which is astronomical for someone on a tight budget. When I reached out to Lura I received the exact response that I was expecting-- reference to signing the financial responsibility agreement and that it was my responsibility. How unsympathetic can you be to not even do the proper insurance verification on a patient specifically requesting it for financial reasons, and then surprise billing them. It's just completely dishonest and wrong when the patient is greatly depending on the services to be covered. I highly recommend finding a dentist that works in network. I found others on Yelp with the same exact complaint as I had- being told out of network insurance is accepted and then getting a surprise bill. In order to avoid this- find an in-network provider or pre-pay.

This was my second round of braces, and I have so many complaints that I feel compelled to warn…read moreothers. Let's start with the fact that this dental office does not have sinks. Yes, you read that right--no sinks in the rooms. When I came in for a cleaning, there was no rinsing or spitting because they simply don't have the facilities. The issues didn't stop there. I already had braces on when I scheduled my cleaning, but when I arrived, the hygienist was upset with me for having braces during the cleaning. She claimed I should've had three separate appointments: one for removing the braces, one for the cleaning, and then another for putting the braces back on. She made her frustration very clear, which made the whole experience uncomfortable. Throughout my treatment, they switched my orthodontist multiple times with no explanation. Each time, I had to sit there while someone new reviewed my chart, which felt incredibly unprofessional and unsettling. On top of that, they kept asking if I was satisfied with how my teeth looked. How am I supposed to know what my teeth should look like? Isn't that their job to determine and fix? For context, I got braces to correct flaring and a few spaces in my teeth. While the spaces seemed closed, the flaring wasn't fixed at all. Honestly, my first round of braces 10 years ago gave me better results than this round ever did. The only reason I needed braces again was that I didn't wear my retainers back then. This time, I was determined to do everything right, but Pure Dental Health completely dropped the ball. When it came time to remove my braces, they didn't even know I was scheduled for the appointment. Worse yet, my retainers weren't ready. I had to be fitted for them after my removal appointment, which meant scheduling another visit. I had also asked about permanent retainers before my removal appointment and was told they would cost $600. I asked if I owed anything else for my braces, and they assured me I didn't. Then, on the day of removal, they suddenly told me I owed $600 for the braces removal, meaning I'd have to pay $1,200 total for both. At that point, I refused to pay for the permanent retainers and just paid for the braces removal. This back-and-forth was unprofessional, poorly communicated, and frustrating.

Following the cavity filling, I had a negative experience with my dental cleaning and had no plans to return. She was very rough but bo longer works there. I ended up cancelling my follow up but spoke to my friend and she recommended changing to Jay. Jay is the best dental cleaning I have had. They do not accept DHMO or DMO and they don't confirm your insurance until you check out. There was no intake or let us update your info/ insurance when I walked in which I thought was weird. That is the first thing that I've been asked to do but I unfortunately assumed that I was all good. Typically I have had all medical confirm beforehand so I'm at least aware of the cost. I had to pay $280 for a dental cleaning appointment. When I asked the check out about last year, she said I paid out of pocket as well which was fine. However I paid in full each time and randomly have a $4 charge on my receipt for a starting period of September. I had no appointment in September but I don't know why I was retro charged when I checked out each time. The line item also provides no detail. I would have cancelled the appointment if I had known so I'll be cancelling my future appointments for the year. To me that cost is too much so I won't be returning. I'll be reimbursing myself through HSA for the cost. The front desk, specifically the Caucasian front desk employees, should ask people their name and appointment time. That's front desk etiquette to me and eliminates any assumptions based off skin color, race, or gender. I'm not sure why that's hard but it was giving - I grew up in "whites only" and have not changed. They do offer invisalign but I ended up going somewhere else for a lower payment plan. They only offered 4 payments and I had other financial commitments so I wasn't willing to pay. Cons are the price, paying for parking and communication based on the above.

Fraudulent billing practices!…read more I received a text today saying that I owed them $100. I haven't been there for over a year. They claimed that insurance rejected their claim for a cleaning back in April of 2024. They emailed me the invoice when I requested it, and it showed they had billed the wrong insurance. I let them know their mistake, and they claimed that since they had informed me multiple times (they hadn't) it was my responsibility, and they couldn't bill insurance after a year had gone by. However, they would be willing to settle the matter for $60. I told them I would be willing to pay $40 to settle the matter, but I would need an invoice mailed to me. They ran my credit card for $40 and sent me an invoice saying I still owed them $60! After that, they hung up on me and would refuse to take any subsequent calls. I called my actual insurance, and they did agree that this office should simply bill them and they would sort it out. They even called on my behalf (shout out to Anthem). I stopped going here because the office made me uncomfortable (daytime TV, yuck), and I was tired of getting nickle-and-dimed by their garage parking situation. The fact that they're trying to rip me off for such a foolish amount speaks to low moral standing of the office in general. Steer very clear of this dental office.

I researched and really liked the "feel" of Atlanta Dental Spa. Their "No Judgement" attitude is what I liked the most. I walked in the front door (BIG step) and Tiara took such great care of me. She is so sweet!! After x-rays and scans, I met with Dr. Gandhi who was very understanding of my fear. He was gentle and explained everything that needed to be done and what those options were. It was scary looking at all that was needed, but they offer sedation dentistry and that's what I did. After a good couple of hours of being "consciously knocked out", Dr. Gandhi, Whitney and Britney got the work done! I left being able to smile showing my teeth for the first time in years! But more so, correcting the things that could affect the rest of my health. After I got home I did NOT have ANY pain which is saying a lot as I had a ton of work done. They said that days 3-4 might be the worst for pain, but there was NONE. And that's taking nothing but ibuprofen. The advancement of dentistry is amazing. More than that, finding a dental office that treats you like family, sees you at your scheduled time, offers you neck warmers, blankets, headphones with your choice of music...but most of all truly cares about your patient experience. I'll keep my mouth healthy at Atlanta Dental Spa-Highlands and Dr. Gandhi is my dental guy going forward! (Also thanks to Tiffany who helped answer my financial questions!)
