I was referred here by a friend. I had cavities and had those replaced which was a very smooth process compared to what I expected. Following the cavity filling, I had a negative experience with my dental cleaning and had no plans to return. She was very rough but bo longer works there. I ended up cancelling my follow up but spoke to my friend and she recommended changing to Jay. Jay is the best dental cleaning I have had. They do not accept DHMO or DMO and they don't confirm your insurance until you check out. There was no intake or let us update your info/ insurance when I walked in which I thought was weird. That is the first thing that I've been asked to do but I unfortunately assumed that I was all good. Typically I have had all medical confirm beforehand so I'm at least aware of the cost. I had to pay $280 for a dental cleaning appointment. When I asked the check out about last year, she said I paid out of pocket as well which was fine. However I paid in full each time and randomly have a $4 charge on my receipt for a starting period of September. I had no appointment in September but I don't know why I was retro charged when I checked out each time. The line item also provides no detail. I would have cancelled the appointment if I had known so I'll be cancelling my future appointments for the year. To me that cost is too much so I won't be returning. I'll be reimbursing myself through HSA for the cost. The front desk, specifically the Caucasian front desk employees, should ask people their name and appointment time. That's front desk etiquette to me and eliminates any assumptions based off skin color, race, or gender. I'm not sure why that's hard but it was giving - I grew up in "whites only" and have not changed. They do offer invisalign but I ended up going somewhere else for a lower payment plan. They only offered 4 payments and I had other financial commitments so I wasn't willing to pay. Cons are the price, paying for parking and communication based on the above. read more

He did an absolutely amazing job repairing my tooth and although it's a temporary solution while I prepare for a permanent fix, you can't even tell that my tooth had major damage! Been going to Dr. Richard Weinman since the late 80's. I have never given a review for them, which they highly deserved. But today for the first time, I had work done by a different dentist in the group that specializes in root canal, Dr. Craig Swiger. Unfortunately for me, I was feeling a lot of discomfort last Friday evening. Monday morning Dr Swiger took the time to fit me in and take a look. Instead of going right in after X-rays, he decided to adjust my bite and wait a couple of days to see if the pain subsided. As well as, hopefully sparing me from what I was dreading. No luck there for me, so I went in this morning for the procedure. Through some testing, he verified which the bad tooth was. I'll fast forward to later that evening which is right now. Other than a little soreness, I feel great. I can't stress enough about what great care Dr. Swiger and his assistant Julie took of me. As well as calling and checking on me too, earlier this afternoon. The comfort and professionalism was second to none. I can't recommend him and Buckhead Dental & associates any higher. Simply the best! From the hygienists, the DMD's and even the front desk. They are Five Star out of 5! From the first time years ago when I met Dr Weinman, there was never going to be another practice but them for me, and everyone I could refer to them as well. They were my dentist for about 5 years, and I gotta say, I have found better since. Now if you're one of those who can go all year long without flossing, and try and catch up the week before with no problems, awesome! Good for you!!! Go see this dentist, or any dentist really, cuz you're gonna be fine no matter what. However, if you're like me, who can't skip a day of flossing without noticing, has to have the correct rotary toothbrush, must use sensitive toothpaste, and not to mention that tartar control mouthwash... you might want to choose your dentist more wisely. Buckhead Dental Associates - swanky offices, great stellar views of the Lenox area, and up-to-date equipment - just a snazzy place overall. The expertise in the dental areas... err... not so great after all! They couldn't figure out what was the issue with my gumline after multiple routine visits, so they sent me to a periodontist to have my gumline lasered down to try and fix the problem. This didn't work, and after my gums were burned down in the process, I decided it was best to try and find a new dentist, which was in fact, the best move I made! As it turned out, that procedure was unnecessary, and in one quick visit to a new dentist, my problem of 30 years was fixed in an hour! 5 years I wasted with these guys, trusting that they could fix my ailments. Not a chance! After visiting that place, I have a hard time recommending it to anyone who has any problems with their teeth. They just don't have the expertise to really find out what is ailing you, so why make your life hell and waste your time? Go see someone whose qualifications meet your expectations. This is a 3.5 star review. I initially had it at 3 but bumped it up to 4 just because I was mostly happy with the results if not the experience. Right off, I will say that their referral program is great - say someone referred you (I would be happy to fill this role for you if you like) and get $25 off, and the referrer gets $25 off. They also have 7:30 AM appointments and got me in the next business day after my phone call. Beyond that, I think the experience here varies greatly based on the dentist and the technician you get. And my usual disclaimer, this is a health provider review, possible TMI alert. I have little incentive to go to the dentist on a regular basis. I have a slight phobia probably originating in my mother's extreme phobia, which led her to take me to the dentist all of once during my entire childhood. She herself has not been since before I was born. I have mitral vale prolapse, which requires you to take antibiotics before dental work although it's really not clear to me why. Plus, I have never had a cavity so I haven't really felt the threat of consequence for not going. I don't floss but I brush with sonicare (which means I spend 24 hours a year brushing my teeth!), and that feels dental enough for me. This time I grudgingly got around to making an appointment because I was having widespread gum pain in my lower right molar area. Oh, this is it, I thought to myself. I've finally got what's coming to me in the form of cavities or gingivitis or some complication from my wisdom tooth removal ten years ago or mouth cancer or something else horrific. They scheduled me the next day for a dental exam but not a cleaning because they didn't have anyone available - they scheduled the cleaning for the following Monday. That's a little inefficient, but just fine for me because the 7:30 appointment slot allows me to miss less of my workday. It turned out to be moot because they were able to do the cleaning anyway. The assistant did my bitewing x-rays, which pretty much almost made me puke. She told me to look out the window and focus on something. It didn't work and my gag reflex took over again, and she sort of jokingly chastised me, "you're not looking out the window!" This annoyed me because SHE WAS BLOCKING THE DARN WINDOW during the process. Also, to the extent that my gagging was due to nerves, she seemed a little impatient with my phobia. The dentist was warm and not overly pushy. Initially, he seemed to pay an unexpected amount of attention to my medical history, my penicillin allergy in particular. But that's ok, I love talking about myself (for the most part) and pontificating about whether or not my medicine allergies are real or fake. During the exam he found nothing that should be causing me gum pain. Frustrating, but a relief that I didn't have something horrible. He said it was probably muscle pain and I should take advil for it. I still don't accept this explanation because this pain is decidedly in my gums. But it is going away by itself, so I guess he was right about that part. Then he looked at my teeth and said HE THOUGHT HE SAW TWO CAVITIES, and told me that they were in the spot where people usually get their first cavities. He told me it wasn't anything that I had done wrong. Small comfort, when I find pretty much every mouth-related procedure extremely unpleasant. Onto the cleaning. First, the tech prodded me and yelled a bunch of numbers which apparently has something to do with your gums separating from your teeth (gross!). I kept insisting that my gums hurt terribly when she poked at that part, and she said that there really wasn't any inflammation or gingivitis there. Then she put the camera in my mouth and I was forced to look at my teeth from various heretofore unknown angles (grosser!). But she said I didn't actually have any cavities, so I was relieved and just a tiny bit bitter that the dentist had gotten me all scared about it. Because I can't stand the scraping, she used some ultrasonic device instead, which was AWESOME. Then she sprayed some sort of salt baking soda thing for polishing, which was HORRIBLE. I kept needing to swallow and gagging and choking. Then she unsurprisingly told me to floss more, and tried to show me a way to floss behind my permanent retainer without using one of those threader things. This ultimately proved ineffective when I tried to do it. The low point of the entire thing was when she insulted my orthodonture and told me that the orthodontist had made my teeth look great, but I still had a crossbite and should probably get a consultation about it. She went on and on and on about this until finally I had to say to her "I really can't deal with this right now." The main reason I'm going with four stars instead of three is because I have flossed consistently twice a day since the appointment. I'm really not sure why, because no other dental appointment has inspired this. read more

I have been going to Buckhead Dental for 3 years and love it! My dental hygienist is Lesley and my dentist is Dr. Myerson- both are great! Buckhead Dental is offering a cheaper form of Invisalign called Smart Moves, it's for people who have minor tooth movement. I made the mistake of not wearing my retainer after years of braces, so I now I have two teeth I am trying put back in place. Smart Moves ranges from $500 to $1,000 - a lot cheaper than Invisalgin. I really needed a dentist here in Atlanta. Or the South for that matter. It sounds crazy but I usually just got my teeth cleanings whenever I went home to Boston since you only get them twice a year. However, now that I'm older (noooo), I know I needed a dentist on my own and in addition, I wanted cosmetic bonding for my upper front teeth (I have smaller teeth with big spaces in-between). I really wanted to find someone before my sister's wedding but I was SLAMMED at work. Yes, people. Finding a great dentist is extremely important, especially if you don't want ugly teeth. The search led me to Dr. Shannon Thorsteinson. Not only is Buckhead Dental right near my workplace, the facilities make you feel luxurious. My x-rays and teeth evaluation was very thorough. and my cleaning done by Lesley was great. She talked step-by-step during the process. For my cosmetic bonding, Dr. Thorsteinson and her assistant, Kim, were great. They talked with me through different options. Since I'm young, I went with bonding vs veneers. We did teeth whitening (my teeth are great B1 shade), molds to get a look at how my teeth will look and then finally the day came for my bonding. I know my teeth aren't perfect nor is my bite so Dr. Thorsteinson worked really hard to make it as good looking as possible. At first, I was slightly disappointed because they weren't a straight line but everyone pointed out "Most everyone don't have extremely even and straight teeth". Since my bite is off, making my front four teeth bigger was a huge deal for me. The initial bonding made me feel weird and I kept looking at them constantly, but after a month now, I really like my teeth and feel much more confident to smile often. read more

I can't imagine anyone writing a bad review of this place. You don't have to wait around to be seen, every single person in the office is as nice as could be, and my dentist (Dr. Jason Myerson) makes himself present and available to you so that you feel taken care of and trust him completely. My biggest issue with past dentists was that they would try to scam me. They would try to sell me dental services I don't need, but they're a doctor so you feel inclined to trust them. This is not at all an issue with Dr. Myerson. He takes color photos and X-rays of your teeth and walks you through your mouth, tooth by tooth. He explains to you exactly what you're seeing, what is a cause for concern, and how it could be fixed. He doesn't pressure you into getting any procedures, he drafts up a recommended treatment plan, and you schedule whatever you want for whenever. He's easy on the eyes, too. :) read more

Doctor Jason Myerson provided very high-quality dental care for my mother. Dr. Myerson is passionate about what he does and he is delivering the Best care to his patients. We went to several doctors with my mom before our friends recommended Dr. Jason Myerson. Mom was without most of her teeth, depressed and lost hope to be able to eat normal food again. She lost a lot of weight because of it. After meeting with Dr. Jason Myerson and Zoya (his Dental assistant), she became very optimistic and very appreciative for their professionalism. Dr. Myerson has incredible talent and he worked very hard and gave a lot of attention to my mom to make her teeth to fit just right. Dr. Myerson and Zoya brought mom back to normal life. Zoya made mom feel so comfortable and took time to figure out exactly what will work for her in details. A quick note--I think their office has moved, because I read the other reviews and it's still the same dentists and practice, but the address now is 3490 Piedmont. This was the best dentist visit I've ever had, and I've had a LOT. I don't need to bore you wtih my entire dental history, but to give you the picture, I'm 22 and I've had 2 root canals. So when I was filling out the new patient questionaire and it asked me "Do you fear dentistry?" I sort of chuckled to myself, but the truth is yes. I do. I'm afraid of dentists who want to make money off of me and tell me I need much more serious work done than is necessary. And I'm afraid of dentists who want to make me feel bad and accuse me of not flossing enough (I floss every day, thank you very much). And while I can deal with needles in my mouth, a drill vibrating my head and a sore jaw for a few hours after a filling, I can't deal with the fact that I seriously think my old dentist might have messed up my mouth with excessive and possibly unnecessary dental work, i.e., I never had pain before I went to her, and now I have terrible cold sensitivity. I don't want to associate that reclining chair with impending doom, but the association is there nonetheless. None of those things happened at Buckhead Dental. I wish I remembered the name of my hygienist because she was awesome. I'm not usually one for conversation in this type of situation from but she was just so pleasant and not annoying at all. And she was super gentle. She made me forget my insecurities about all the work I've had done and told me my mouth was incredibly clean and I made her job easy. The dentist himself was also very down to earth and up front about everything. We looked at my x-rays together (they were to the side of the chair, not behind like in my old dentist's office where I couldn't see them), and he explained what they meant and what we might need to watch, and what I could choose or choose not to have done. And he told me in spite of all the fillings, my mouth was still very pretty, and upon looking at my front teeth he never would've guessed all that stuff was going on in the back. This is not someone just trying to make a fortune off of unsuspecting patients. They also have a cool policy--if you refer someone, both you and they get $25 off. read more

I desperately needed a dentist two years ago when a filling fell out and the team at Buckhead Dental were fantastic! Immediate emergency appointment the next day and great follow up care. I was looking forward to a lifetime of great care! Two years later emails go completely unanswered. Earliest appointment change can be granted six weeks away, after a phone call - never did get a response to my earlier messages?! Seriously? After trying many dentists in Atlanta, I am so happy with Dr. Shannon Thorsteinson. She made me feel so comfortable with my treatment and down to earth with her explanations. Natalie was my hygienist, and talked about what she was doing every step and how I could better take care of my teeth. Pardon me while I gush :) I came in for a "dental emergency" that while it wasn't super worrisome, was much-needed because of the pain I was having. Being a brand-new patient, Buckhead Dental didn't HAVE to take me in today, much less within 2 hours of when I called. Not only did they accommodate me, they couldn't have been kinder and friendlier when I came in. And then I met Kim and Dr. Thorsteinson. Oh my gosh. They were the most personable and fun dental professionals I've ever met in my life. Dr. Thorsteinson approached my dental health in such a comprehensive manner, explained things in a non-dentist-y way that I could understand and was so accommodating that I'm genuinely looking forward to coming in for my cleaning (not something I've EVER said before). I was really impressed by the technology and how seamlessly the brought together my x-rays from my prior dentist and the new pictures and information they collected. All in all, it made me feel like the really care about me and my teeth. My husband has refused to get a local dentist and would prefer to get cleanings when we visit our hometown of Chicago and I believe that I finally convinced him that we have a dentist practice that's worthy of making the switch - and doesn't require a plane ticket! read more

I generally hate going to the dentist but Buckhead Dental has started to change that. I was referred to them by two different colleagues and am so grateful to them for the referral! The front desk was incredibly friendly and made every effort to schedule my appointment on the day I asked about. The doctor, Dr. Weinman, was a very nice man and he took time to answer all the questions that I had. He was a great dentist and my crown did not hurt at all. I recently moved to Atlanta from Beverly Hills and began my search for a dentist when I began experiencing pain in one of my molars. It was pure luck when I found Buckhead Dental Associates (thank god for google). Not only is the office nice and clean with state-of-the-art equipment, but the staff is extremely kind, efficient, and sensitive. The dentist that worked on me was the young and very personable Dr. Jason Myerson. I couldn't have asked for better. He's fabulously gentle with the novocaine shots. I didn't shed one tear when he administered the shots. He's fast and, again, efficient. Anyone that is looking for a gentle team of dentists, come here. We were using another dentist in Buckhead, but decided to switch after so-so to inexcusably bad experiences over the past year. Dr. Weinmann's and his team's level of professionalism, ability to connect with and listen to the patient, and attention to details makes the other dentist seem archaic and almost third-worldish. The office atmosphere is not a deal-breaker for us, but this office is the icing on the cake. More like a spa than a dentist's office - and very accessible location. My entire family has (have) been patients of Buckhead Dental since its inception, patronized its predecessor as well, through 3 moves. This would encompass a bit less than 50 years. The practice has only grown better over that time, more efficient, better methods, constant learning, and extremely conscientious. The staff gives back to the community as well, doing charity work at clinics. Buckhead Dental is efficient....make an appointment and you generally won't wait more than 5 minutes. The staff of hygienists is professional and thorough -- they look for issues while they are cleaning. The dentists know what they are doing and are sensitive to their clients' needs; they are aware of the fear factor, and do all they can to put their clients at ease.
