Loved all three days here - mid week Tuesday to Thursday. Worked with FINS UP team for a small group event 20 people and all details from food, drinks, welcome reception, temperature of the room, valet, room reservations, and check in was flawless. Communication via email and phones calls quick to respond. Each team member from Kendall, Mario, Jeff from the Bronx, and Steve all helped make this a success story for our little event. Definitely will use this place to host your event. Invoicing easy and itemized. Thank you all! Loved this place.

Amazing location! Nice rooms. Completely updated and modern. The convenience of having a pool bar, restaurant downstairs and a coffee shop all within the hotel! Wow. Shout out to Dylan who set us up for a great stay!

We stayed at the Margaritaville Hotel for two nights (Wednesday and Thursday) for Padres Opening Day. We stayed in a "Premium King Spa" room. The room featured a workstation, 55" TV, seating area with a chair and pull-out sofa bed and coffee table. Large bathroom with a large soaking tub and separate walk-in shower, and a good-sized vanity area. I always appreciate the old school digital alarm clock, so I don't have to look at my phone in the middle of the night. Also this one had Bluetooth, USB ports and 110V power outlets. We've stayed at Margaritaville before, we'd stay again. PROS: Relaxing Island Vibes Great downtown location In-room coffee Friendly/helpful staff Large room Soaking Tub (Jacuzzi tub would be better!) Awesome Robes Comfy Bed Large Bathroom Clean On-site bars/restaurants Heated Pool Gym Perks Program CONS: View (room 714). A view of rooftop maintanence facilities and HVAC units. Mini Fridge is really just a beverage cooler not made for leftover food storage $35/night "Amenities Fee". If you're charging for it, it's not really an amenity. Early check-in/Late check out $30 each. C'mon! That's just nickel and diming guests.

We came for the valet parking and food, but stayed to tour a room, the lobby and check out the gift shop. Their merch is definitely guided to local tastes which is a good thing, lots of SD Padres/Margaritaville stuff. I ended up buying something because I have no idea when I'll be back here again, but if ( for some strange reason ) I was ever possessed to get back into the habit of Comic-Con ( not happening ) I would stay here. If I ever needed a good downtown hotel, I like this place. It's clean, neat, organized, has it's own valet parking and left absolutely nothing negative to complain about. ...which is odd, I mean, I could complain about ice cream being too cold yet here I am not finding one complaint. So far, so good. I'll be back.

Note: Booked through Amex Platinum Travel and received $100 resort credit & update to a suite which made for a better experience. It was convenient to use the credit for my toddler's breakfast, my coffees and a few happy hour drinks! Room: Suite had a door which separated the living room from the bedroom which was much needed so my toddler & baby could sleep separately. -sound machine & chargers in the rooms were very helpful. Property: We loved how dog-friendly it was! We went to the pool bar for happy hour with our toddler which was convenient. She had a blast people watching everyone in the pool. Parking: No comment - did not valet. Recommend parking at 6th & K parking structure to save money. We were sad to see Kimpton Solamar get replaced by Margaritaville but will be back with our fur baby and kids again soon!

We visited the Margaritaville Hotel and it was the perfect location to walk to Petco Park for a baseball game! The valet parking was comparable to other places in the area and so much more convenient than trying to get out of a packed parking garage after the game. The artwork in the lobby made for some fun photo ops and gave the place an extra special touch. We appreciated the lemon flavored water in the lobby and the clean bathrooms. Checkout the Landshark Adirondack chair outside and the giant sandal in the lobby--nothing says "vacation mode" like a giant sandal and margarita glasses.

My wife and I love overnight staycation spots living in San Diego and we had a great experience at Margaritaville. I'm not sure we've stayed anywhere that paid such close attention to detail when it comes to their overall theme. Everything stayed true to the heart of the vibe that was Jimmy Buffet. From the moment you walk in the lobby you're immediately in Jimmy's world. It continued from the hallways to our room. I was genuinely impressed by their detail intentionality. I wasn't a "Parrot Head" but I'm guessing they would be proud of this spot. The only thing that would have made this theme better would be if it was on a beach instead of the middle of downtown San Diego. My wife and I would have probably taken an Uber to the hotel if we knew the parking was $67 (or close to that) but that was really the only negative. That said, it was good to know your car was safe and secure in downtown. I love downtown SD but gotta be honest about it. We had a good experience and would come back for sure. We didn't get anytime in the pool area but from our window it looked like a great spot.

My family & I spent 2 days here for the 1st in San Diego celebrating a much needed family & wedding anniversary trip. The hotel is located downtown San Diego which is called the Gaslamp district which have lots of restaurants, entertainment & much in the area depending on what you're looking for. The hotel is next to another hotel so just make sure you look for the sign to pull into the correct driver way of the hotel. The hotel charges $65 for valet parking which is extremely expensive but due to convenience & distance of other parking areas we paid for the parking. The valet is friendly & quick. We were able to unload our luggage & bags. The valet brought us a cart for easier transport since we had a nice amount of luggage. Once you enter; you will see all the nice decor of beach items, hats, sandals, birds, lots of seating area in the lobby, complementary water stands, the hotel as a restaurant called LandShark bar & grill (offer happy hour specials on select drinks & appetizers from 3-6p, coffee shop and up on the fourth floor is a full bar called 5 o'clock somewhere, which is all connected to Margaritaville for their famous drinks. Check in is @ 4p & check out is 11am but can check out an hour later complementary just have to let them know ahead of time to check out at noon. You will have to pay for early check-in, which and due to the hotel I believe it's $35 more. Also I was unaware of the daily resort fee which was $40 a day; for us this hotel did not have a feel as an resort & could have included food if that's the case due to the price. The price of the hotel, resort fee & parking makes your stay even more expensive than expected. Due to the area & being in San Diego we believe the hotels are overcharging honestly. Other hotels we stayed before automatically give their guests complimentary check in early if available no charge, waters, coffee, and other amenities without charging Resort fees. We were hoping our room would be available early since we pulled up @ 2p to precheck in & was advised will receive a text when available & had to wait a few hours. We noticed a lot of other people checking in after us & getting their rooms right away before us. We had a normal standard room 2 queen beds not a suite. After waiting until almost 4p; we went to the counter to speak to someone & was told housekeeping was taking longer than expected & putting a rush which was @ 3:40p. We were a little annoyed because check in is @ 4p & our room was still not ready. We would have thought the front desk associate would have sent a message to housekeeping informing the guest was here early & to try get their room ready asap but that did not happen & still had to wait until 4p. After we were finally able to get access to room, we stayed on the 7th floor which they have 10 floors in the hotel. Our room was nice w/ our 2 queen beds, tv, small fridge, desk, chairs, closet, safe, bathroom w/ shower w/ 1 sink, sliding door to the bathroom but no microwave in the room, floor & or lobby. Due to expense & needing to warm up food; guests need access to a microwave to warm up their food. This hotel should put at least 4 microwaves in the lobby section for guest use & or at least 1 microwave on 3-4 floors & 2 microwaves in the lobby for convenience. Since the hotel is green; you can request your bedding to be changed daily if you want otherwise housekeeping is available every 3 days. You can also request for extra towels if needed & someone will bring them to your room. We went down to lobby to let front desk know we needed an additional 4 sets of towels but when someone came up to our room we're only brought 2 sets. Overall our stay was good just wish the resort fees was not added & for the parking to be more affordable for guest staying at their hotel. A few tips: you can book your stay through other 3rd party websites but if you want to take advantage of other perks such as discounts on parking, food, drinks, rewards & more you have to book directly through their website which is more expensive. We received a better deal on another website & eventhough we were guests staying at Margaritaville we could be take advantage of their deals w/o booking directly on their website which was disappointing. All specials should be available to all guests no matter what website it's booked through. We even tried to see if the front desk & or customer service would offer the deals to us as a courtesy by request & was denied unfortunately.

Stayed at Margaritaville for 2 days while celebrating my friends birthday! Booked them through Amex. Everyone was nice, service was nice. Lobby and common areas were clean and well maintained. Rooms were cool, location was perfection as you're centrally located within walking distance to do many bars, clubs, and restaurants. My only gripe was I'm allergic to dogs and wish they had a few rooms that they keep dog free. My allergies were going nuts for the entire time I was there. I also wasn't fond of them allowing people to bring them into their restaurant! Parking prices were kind of high at $65 a night. Overall I'd probably come back, I just will come prepared with the proper allergy meds!

Every where you look in the room showed neglect, door didn't operate smoothly. Obviously it's been like that for awhile

Entered our room and it was filled with weed smoke, although it's a non smoking room, weed smoke is ok with them because they offered an air purifier which they never brought up. We had a neighbor with a dog that barked from 9p to 2am, we called the desk and they advised us the guest were out of the hotel and would call them. The pool wasn't great as it looked online, old, small and a bit weathered.Terrible hotel for the price point. Never again will we stay here.

My little brother was down so our family decided to go to San Diego for the week and we had a great time at the Margaritaville Hotel in downtown San Diego. It has a nice ambiance, great central location, and great food spots all around. They did a good job with the Christmas theme for the holidays as well, very heavy on the beach theme, but I know it's probably geared towards tourists from outside of SoCal, so that makes sense. I definitely recommend this to anybody looking for a decent place to stay while vacationing in San Diego :)

Just some decor and a good coffee set up!

The key to this hotel is the quality and the comfort of the room itself. Yes, check-in time is 4 PM and I waited several hours for my room to be ready, but it was worthwhile. I really enjoyed the fact that the mattress was exceptionally comfortable, the room was immaculately clean, and the lights were mercifully dimmable, and cozy. The central location offered so many options for dining and enjoying the bayfront area. I did check out the "5 o'clock Somewhere" rooftop bar, but it wasn't my vibe, but then again it was chilly and cloudy when I was there. NGL, when my conference day was over, I enjoyed the margaritas at the Fins Up bar and, in the morning, the coffee shop downstairs. Also: Don't waste your money on an Uber: Walk the easy 13 minutes to the city bus stop to get to the airport and pay $2.50 instead of $20/$30 on an Uber. Also: staff are friendly and generous.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

I love that the grounds are secure and you can allow your children to go into the courtyard area and play the provided games with peace of mind- knowing that they'll be safe. They provide tons of outdoor seating options and grills for tenants, which makes cooking a breeze. In order to enter from the beach/boardwalk, you must have a room key to enter the premises- another awesome perk. This keeps all the riff-raft out of the area. &At night, they also require a room key to enter through the front of the building- which is a newer feature, and much appreciated. You can leave your beach toys & chairs outside your room without worrying about someone coming to steal it. We have locked our bikes up downstairs in the courtyard area & nobody messes with them. Location wise, it is in the heart of downtown. Everything is within walking distance. Immediately outside of the hotel, you can get to the Star of India as well as USS Midway museum. Both are must visit places if you are in downtown SD. Little Italy is also just about a 10-minute walk. It is a great place to visit the farmer's market in the morning and explore the food scene at night. Balboa Park and the SD Zoo are also very close and easily within driving distance. In terms of the hotel itself, we had the fortune of being upgraded for free AND given a free late check-out as well. They do have a balcony with a bar and plenty of seating. The balcony has a killer view. I got quite a bit of work done there every morning and it is a great way to start the day. The room itself is spacious and can fit 3-4 people since the couch can be a pullout. That being said, the couch wasn't that comfortable, but I survived without breaking my back. However, it did take me the first night to get used to. The view from the room is a killer and it's hard to get tired of it. All of their rooms face the ocean, so don't worry when you book, you will get a killer view regardless. Breakfast is complimentary, but their breakfast is very average. It is very hectic in the morning and the food is not the best, but it is included in the hotel. If you get tired of the breakfast here, again Little Italy is within walking distance with much better food options in the morning. They also have a tiny gym. It's got a treadmill and dumbbells. They don't have everything, but the equipment was sufficient for what I needed. Parking here can be quite expensive. I believe it was around $35 or $45 per day. But again, the convenient location of this hotel is hard to beat, so I think the parking price is worth it especially since parking is expensive everywhere in downtown SD and also hard to find. Overall, we had a great stay here. I do wish the breakfast was better for the price we are paying per night at the hotel and I wish their pullout couch was a bit more comfy. However everything being considered, I do highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting downtown SD. The location is just way too convenient.

There's also a couple minimarts and food spots including Starbucks located right outside the hotel. The rooftop pool is so amazing. We were able to dine in for lunch many times and we truly enjoyed the food and service here! They aren't very soft or spongy. Nonetheless, I was able to sleep on them sufficiently well. We can be a little picky about beds and getting good sleep, and we slept fine. Unfortunately, like many hotels, the sink, toilet, and shower/tub are all in one room, making it less convenient for two people to be doing things at the same time, especially since there is only one sink. There was a decent amount of lighting and space for toiletry items. We had no major complaints about the room, but we did have a broken toilet paper fixture in the bathroom on the wall next to the toilet that resulted in the toilet paper falling on the floor several times. Service was super friendly, but it was difficult to reach the front desk at times without a very long wait on the phone. When I called down to request a luggage rack for the room, I was told someone would bring one up, but it never came. I had to walk to the front desk to ask for one, which was later delivered. They do have an automated attendant that lets you request a limited number of items, and I was able to request a robe for my wife that way. While we were there, the elevators were a problem for a lot of people. For part of the time we were there, some in our tower were not working, causing relatively long waits for the remaining elevators and sometimes multiple stops on the way down or up at peak use times. The hotel said they were working on it, and things did seem to improve a little by the time we checked out. The property itself is beautiful and laid out well for its limited space in this part of town. Once inside, and even outside when walking the grounds near the pool, you are in a bit of a protected oasis that doesn't make you feel like you are sandwiched between the bay and the street out front. We ate outside every day with the conference, and the area we were in was super pleasant. There are a number of restaurants on property, but since we were usually eating with the conference, we didn't have time to try any except for the Marketplace. It was very expensive for most items, but the quality was really good, and we never had much of a wait. They serve Starbucks coffee here, but you can probably save a bit of money if you get that (or mobile order) from the on-site Starbucks, which is in a different part of the building. The food served at the conference was of good quality. If you go to many conferences, you'll find it to be competitive with any of the better resorts, though, in my opinion and as one might expect, it doesn't outshine the Ritz-Carlton or certain J.W. Marriott facilities. The food service staff for the conference were excellent, helpful, and fast. The hotel is in a very convenient area downtown on the bay next to the San Diego Convention Center. Traffic in the short distance between here and the freeway can be bad depending on time of day or events happening at either the convention center, downtown, or at Petco Park, where the Padres play, but the distance is short enough for it not to be much of a headache in most cases. I doubt you'll find very many cities with access this easy from the hotel to the airport and all of the local attractions, including, in this case, the Gaslamp District, Little Italy, Coronado, the bayside attractions, Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, and more. Hotel parking is expensive, of course, so if you don't really need a car, I highly recommend using Uber or Lyft or walking to get around to the nearest things. Overall, I would certainly stay here again, and I do highly recommend this hotel if you are attending a conference or vacationing in this part of the city and can afford the price point.

Room with view of bay and balcony - worth the upgrade! Food was traditional blah hotel food except when we got the blackened chicken sandwich for room service for late night meal and it was delicious!!!

Stayed here for a week, worked a conference at the convention center…read more Convenience cannot be beat! Easy 5 minute walk to the convention center. Sky bridge access to Petco park. Our first room was small and the bed was basically down to the springs. It was horrible. However, front desk quickly fixed this and moved us to a new room with a newer mattress, which also happened to be slightly bigger. The beds are soft and springy so just be aware of that if you're used to firmer beds. They also gave us firmer pillows (non down) which was great. Bell hops are friendly! Valet was quick and easy, but super pricey at $70/night. Having a coffee shop, restaurant and bar onsite was great. Depending on the location of your room, it can be loud all night! We were facing the convention center and you can hear the trains go by, which was fine. But our first night (with the bad bed) was facing a parking lot and it was like a party was right outside our window till 2am. Overall, good stay. Remodel makes it look new, though tubs show wear.

It was served in a plastic wine cup. A hotel charging overpriced wine and overpriced rooms should at least be able to provide a real wine glass. When checking in, I asked the front desk, since the room wasn't available until 5 PM, does that mean we can check out at 12 PM? The front desk said no, check‑out time is still 11 AM. This is ridiculous and unfair to customers. This hotel is just disappointing. The website's advertising it's not accurately reflect the guest experience, and poor customer service.

I paid an arm and a leg for the room but it was absolutely massive and I had sliding glass doors directly onto my own private patio which was right next to the pool overlooking the ocean, it was really incredible despite how outdated the room felt, somehow the size of the room made it more modern and it felt clean. The people at the front desk were young, fun, outgoing, really friendly and I appreciated that. They told me about some happy hour they were having later in the day and I felt very welcome here unlike other hotels I stayed at in the San Diego area. The bathroom was huge in my room, very weird vibe, like felt cabin-like, I don't know how else to explain it, but it was spacious, big countertop by the sink plenty of room to get ready. The coffee bar had an enormous countertop which was great for keeping all of my things, huge mirrors everywhere too. The bed was really comfortable, again great view outside, awesome staff. It was so nice to be able to walk the boardwalk and pop back in here whenever I needed to grab something or use the restroom. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend, I would definitely stay here again. But I probably won't because the cost is INSANE. Sorry but it is. Also housekeeping found my jewelry box loaded with jewelry and returned it to the front desk who subsequently shipped it back to my house for me. For a charge of course but I do appreciate the honesty of the staff that goes a long long way! Thank you!!

Three cheers for Sandra and for the Del!…read more Service has gone downhill since Hilton acquired it. But we love this location so much we suck it up now and then to have a little staycation in this magical place. At check in time there was a huge line: the computers had broken! We left our luggage and got a snack at ENO Market. And luckily by the time we finished, the line had cleared and they had brought over extra folks to work reception. We were lucky to get Sandra who normally works at the more upscale Shore House on property. She was very apologetic about the line and also saw that we have stayed here at several times. My sweetie is Hilton Gold and they were initially going to upgrade us from our basic The Views room to a "Victorian room with a view". No thank you! Del veterans know that the historic hotel rooms are small and with no privacy, because of the courtyard. So Sandra looked again and managed to get us a beautiful upgrade to the ocean view room in The Views, which was amazing. And when we woke up, we had a note under the door saying we also had complimentary buffet breakfast at the veranda because we have an American Express Hilton card... and we also got $100 off our meal the night before at Serea! So in short an amazing stay that was an incredible value for the Del. Sometimes we stay somewhere else "cheaper" in Coronado and then come out and hang here. But this was a super deal. The credit card is absolutely worth getting if you like the Del! (last pro tip: service at the hotel can be spotty and the food very expensive if you don't have a credit. ENO market and pizzeria is the best value on property. But if you get Brett as your server at Serea, and sit outside, you are still sure to have a magical time!)

First, the good: The property has been nicely upgraded since I last stayed here in 1978…read more Now the rest. We checked in at 5pm. Thankfully the line was not long but the process takes a while so you can still wait 10 minutes even if you are first in line. The clerk was very nice but I could sense she was going to shaft us and sure enough we ended up in a tiny room that was down a long corridor with a view of nothing but rooftops. Probably one of the worst rooms in the hotel and maybe used to house the maids but now sold as a regular room to maximize revenue. So naturally we marched back to the front desk and thankfully found another clerk who could not have been more wonderful. Shocker, she was unable to find anything else that night (800 rooms, 5pm checkin, nada) but was able to convince the manager to let us upgrade the following day to a higher category room for $75/night (regularly $225). Of course this means packing up after one night and checking into a new room but we decided to do it because the first room was so mediocre. The next morning we stopped at the front desk at noon and were surprised and delighted to find the new room ready. It was like night and day - about 2x-3x larger with an elevated sitting area, a couch, and a sea view even though it was not ocean front. Well worth the upgrade fee though kind of sad that you have to pay extra just to get yourself removed from the worst ROH. Not that everything was perfect - the following morning we were awakened to children running wild in the room above ours (apparently a special turret room or something) - it was so bad that I had to knock on the door and was greeted by a displeased parent who apologized and said they were checking out. Bueno. Don't come to this hotel enjoy the water. The ocean is polluted by sewage from TJ and not recommended for bathing. The next day we arrived at the pool only to find it was closed for the day after a child had exploding diarrhea. So much for that. Someone asked management if they could use the special spa pool reserved for mucky mucks but was told that was off limits. On the plus side beach drink service was excellent, but $8 for a diet coke plus a mandatory service charge seems excessive. Similarly I think it was $25 for a cookie and a couple of soft drinks at the lobby snack shop. I was tempted to buy a yogurt parfait but I could not justify it as the cups were only half filled. It is one thing to gouge customers, quite another to cheapen the product. For those who want to save $$ there is a chipotle across the street from the property where you can get large soft drinks (and return for free refills, as the cashier explained) for $3. If you plan to spend all your time at the resort, save yourself the parking gouge by taking a $31 rideshare to/ from the airport. Overall I can say that the staff was very nice, the bar area is fun and the food served at the hotel restaurants is excellent. However I do not plan to return as there are so many properties in San Diego that have nicer rooms, nicer pools and nicer beaches for a fraction of the price.
