Started out nice very lush grounds lots of flowers. Lots of greenery room was pretty good small but pretty good. We picked the stay at seven days so we had lots of clothes lots of things in the room unpacked everything day three we left to go out by the pool while they clean the room came back three huge sewer roaches two in the shower, one where our food was, and the coffee machine was had several open bags of food there sealed, but still hidden, opened, killed the roach by the food. The two in the shower were crawling on the tile and all that fell down, went back into the drain so it didn't get to kill them. Went to the front desk showed them the video in the pictures. They said oh we'll just move you to another room and give you $100 credit so now we have seven days worth of clothing here that we have to move we can't repack in our packing tubes and all that so they didn't offer to help us move or provide a golf cart or anything to make it easier didn't tell us where the other room was, which was my fault for not asking so we're lugging this stuff around looking for this room. Finally find it closet smaller it's an adjacent room so you can hear the people next to you talking. Was seven days of clothing for two people. The clot is very small wife is freaked out. Have to leave the lights on in the bathroom all night long to try and keep the roaches away every time something touches her she thinks move she freaks out don't hear anything from the hotel not asking if we've been able to move by ourselves if everything was fine not very involved at all in our issues all of this spending thousands and thousands of dollars for seven nights here getting downsized all for $100 credit not very customer friendly other than that again beautiful grounds pulls very nice. They actually have ice machines around to get so you can get ice but probably wouldn't come back because of the customer service on the roaches.

A truly special place that feels Tropical! From the moment we arrived at Humphreys Half Moon Inn, we felt welcomed, relaxed, and completely taken care of. There's something rare about this place--it's not just a hotel, it's an experience. The setting on Shelter Island is absolutely beautiful. Waking up to the marina views, palm trees, and the gentle calm of the water instantly puts you in vacation mode. It feels peaceful and tucked away, yet you're still close to everything San Diego has to offer.( also close to a few amazing restaurants) The rooms were clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out, with little touches that made our stay feel easy and stress-free. The grounds are immaculate, and the entire property has this classic coastal charm that's hard to find anymore. But what really sets Humphreys apart is the people. Every staff member we encountered was kind, genuine, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome--not because they had to, but because they wanted to. That makes all the difference. Whether you're sitting by the pool, walking along the water, or enjoying the laid-back island vibe, you can tell this is a place that's been cared for with pride for a long time. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, a romantic escape, or just a place where you can truly unwind and feel at ease, Humphreys Half Moon Inn delivers in every way. We'll absolutely be back--and we'll be recommending it to everyone we know. Thank you for a wonderful stay

I'm giving Humphrey's five stars for the value. For the price you can't beat it. Situated in Shelter Island you have ocean/marina views from both sides of the property. The hotel is lush and tropical giving you a relaxed, slow paced enjoyable stay. The pool bar and jacuzzi are super convenient. Parking is a breeze. The on site restaurant offers you a discount during your stay and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also have concerts on site so be careful in booking a room near the concert area when performances are taking place.

We got a room for a 2-day stay. The staff were very accommodating with an upgrade when there was a booking snafu! They gave us a 1st level room right across the outside stage (no one played there during our stay), no complaints there. The patio door's lock wouldn't unlock, but no worries. The rooms around us were quiet; the excercise room was small but very doable The pool was large and heated. The hottub was next to an outdoor bar, and a great place vibe with other guests of all ages! We didn't see a show at the indoor stage, yet it looked like a good time. Both the hotel and the surrounding area lend themselves to epic views of the bay! Plenty of places for long walks. Other restaurants and shops are within walking short driving distances. At night downtown San Diego and the night sky are a sight to see. You might even catch a naval ship entering or leaving during the day. With lots to see and do and visit, and come back to chill at the hotel and still feel like your part of it all, this is the place to be!

Our five-day stay during my daughter's spring break was absolutely wonderful. My husband, daughter, and I loved relaxing by the pool and making the most of our time together. The hotel's prime location made it effortless to visit Belmont Park, the San Diego Zoo, Fashion Valley. popular breakfast spots, and a nearby grocery stores. My husband also enjoyed starting his mornings with a refreshing run by passing the japanese friendship bell. They have a laundry room for 4 dollars per wash and dry. You just need to download the app to pay. It was very convenient to wash the clothes while we were away from home. We also enjoyed having breakfast on our second day and using the voucher for discount.

This hotel was recommended to me by a friend who lives in the area and said it's one her favorite spots! And I can totally see why. I stayed here for one night when I was in town for work. If you're visiting San Diego and want to truly feel like you're on a beautiful vacation in socal, this is definitely a hotel you should stay at! It's a bigger property than it looks on the outside. I had a rather large room to myself with two queen beds and although it didn't overlook the marina, it did overlook the pool area, which was absolutely beautiful with tropical looking trees and whatnot. I have heard they tend to do concerts in there, too, which is pretty cool! The room is really nice and clean and I definitely enjoyed my stay here. The only thing I will say is that they do have a nice area for you to do your makeup, which is great, but the mirror is super high up and the seat is very low. I'm pretty average height and I couldn't even see myself in the mirror haha. The bathroom was great, and the shower worked well. They also have a safe in the room as well and a minifridge and microwave. Would definitely recommend this area, too. It's located close to a lot of restaurants and bars in the area and again, like across the street from the marina and absolutely stunning views. They do have parking but you do have to pay to park there whether or not you're staying there. I was also able to call in the morning and get a late checkout and was able to do an hour after which was great. Definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get a beautiful San Diego experience.

I love the Polynesion atmospere and bayside gardens of this lovely hotel nestled on beautiful Sheleter Island in Point Loma. The hotel is the first one you meet, on the right, when you drive onto Shelter Island from Rosecrans Street. There is a large porte-cochere that extends up, up and up. The entire hotel is a celebration of Tiki architecture which was so popular in the 1960's here in San Diego and elsewhere as well. In fact, this hotel may be the finest example of Tiki architecture in all of San Diego County. If you stay at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn hotel, it is an easy walk for dinner to the nearby Ketch Restaurant (owned by the Brigantine Group) or to the Brigantine itself just up Shelter Island Drive. In addition, the Bali Ha'i Restaurant is just a short stroll away from the Inn.

    Nice, clean room.

We've stayed here many times over the years and it's a reliable hotel in a great location on Shelter Island. They remodeled the front lobby and it is bright and airy and very sharp looking. The old lobby was dated and cramped. The front desk staff was cheerful and helpful. Our room seemed to be updated but I don't know for sure. I won't say the beds are the comfiest in the world, because they aren't, but the room was clean and quiet. I believe all rooms come with a mini-fridge and microwave. I can honestly say I have never used a hotel room microwave but I do love mini-fridges. One amenity no one uses is their free one hour bike rentals. In one hour, you can easily ride all around the island in one hour with a couple of stops thrown in. The hotel is easy walking distance to local restaurants including hidden gem Fathom on the pier, the Brigantine, Ketch, and the Bali Hai. They are presently updating the pool bar and it should look very nice when it is completed. The hotel is not always cheap during summer and other prime vacation times but look for deals at off-times of the year, when the tourists haven't arrived yet. For locals, it's a great staycation.

Friendly service. Beautiful grounds in classic tiki style architecture. Beds were comfortable & we got a good price on Expedia. $20 resort fee isn't bad I guess.

First of all, we will come back to Humphreys. I do have to express disappointment at our last stay. It was not disclosed to us that construction was underway in the pool area. The jacuzzi was closed. The pool bar was under renovation. We stayed mid-week and each day there was construction noise 8-5. Tile saws and also workers walking through the gardens. Our rate was reasonable, but it would have been more professional and courteous to have posted a " pardon our dust" notice online and in person when reservations were made. The resort and parking fees are not reasonable for the property especially when being remodeled. The rooms have been updated and have nice bar, fridge, microwave setup. The bed was not great as far as comfort. Just ok. Choose the location of your room carefully. Upstairs is more private and ocean breezes blow through but no balconies that I saw. Downstairs convenient to stepping out to pool, but no views really. Back patio area with chairs & table is a positive. ASK about concerts & choose your dates based on what you want - excitement, music, lotsa people or non concert dates for a quiet Hawaii feel. Edit : the hotel response gave the impression my recent stay was good. It's the reverse - my stay in May 13-15 2024 was not good, because of construction.

The family and I spent one night at Humphreys Half Moon Inn. The Mrs. and I attended the Andy Bell concert and kiddo tagged along....just because she likes hotels. I read the reviews from my fellow Yelpers about Humphreys and all I have to say to them is....get over yourselves. When it comes to hotels I keep my expectations low and reasonable. That's not a bad thing I'm just a self-sufficient individual that requires no hand holding. We arrive shortly after 2 p.m. The Mrs. booked the reservation through a third party website requesting one bed. Since kiddo was joining us, we needed a room with two beds. I was tasked with requesting the two beds because I apparently have a calming voice and pleasant demeanor. Lol! Checking in was quick and easy. All I had to do was simply as for a room with two queen beds and my request was easily accommodated. We were assigned room 131 which is located in building C which is a first floor room. I was surprised at how big the room was. It had a spacious bathroom with a small vanity. Two large chairs, a desk, tv and a small patio that leads out onto the path to the rest of the resort. 131 is conveniently located by the pool and the onsite concert venue is less than 50 feet from the patio door. The grounds are lush with tropical plants. You'd almost think you were in Hawaii if it wasn't for the airport less than a mile away. The pool area was beautiful. The pool is large and has comfortable seating around it. The Chaise lounges have thick cushions on them and the chairs have cushions as well. There is a new pool bar that opened up recently called the Oasis Pool Bar. Sadly, it isn't a swim up bar. It does have plenty of seating. Sierra was behind the bar and was so friendly. She knew all the regulars. I ordered a Mai Tai and the Mrs. ordered a Margarita. Both were strong but good. The prices are what you'd expect at a resort. Overall the staff we interacted with were friendly. And the other hotel guests were also very friendly. We were all at Humphreys for a common cause. To see Andy Bell and have a great time. And we did. WiFi is offered throughout the resort and is included in the $20 resort fee. Parking is $25 per day. Your card will be charged $50 for incidentals for each day of your stay.

We loved the location and the beautiful grounds of this hotel. Their restaurant is also very nice and overlooks the marina. We stayed in a suite that was perfect! We had the corner room, and it was quiet and cozy. We selected ths hotel for the AWB concert that was being held on their grounds. I'm so glad we did. It was comfortable, convenient, and relaxing. There was a nice big TV in the living room area that I was able to connect our Netflix account to very easily. The restroom is large and contained complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. We actually arrived at noon and they were so gracious to allow us to check in. The service we received from check in to check out was outstanding. There are plenty of restaurant within walking distance if you prefer to venture out. We strolled along the bay and found places to eat and enjoy a drink. We also took an Uber to Little Italy, which I highly recommend. Parking can be downright near impossible in that area. We loved this place and will definitely be back for more concerts by the bay!

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

Service here was just beyond amazing and the self parking was extremely convenient and considerably cheaper than most places ($45 per night). Overall, I would definitely recommend this stay!

My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina while I was participating in a…read moreconference, and we very much enjoyed our stay. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and ours offered a wonderful view of the bay and even the ocean beyond, with a clear view of Point Loma. Down below was Roy's Restaurant and the pool area. While our bay view king room did not have a balcony, the window did have the ability to slightly open if we wanted to hear the sounds or get some fresh air. With the window closed, the room was very quiet, so we had no noise issues. We also didn't hear noise from any neighbors, with the exception of the occasional person talking the hall or letting a room door close. Though the beds were not the most comfortable we've ever had, they were comfortable enough for both of us, though the pillows weren't my favorite because they were the kind of feather pillows you need to bunch up so they aren't too thin. They aren't very soft or spongy. Nonetheless, I was able to sleep on them sufficiently well. We can be a little picky about beds and getting good sleep, and we slept fine. Unfortunately, like many hotels, the sink, toilet, and shower/tub are all in one room, making it less convenient for two people to be doing things at the same time, especially since there is only one sink. There was a decent amount of lighting and space for toiletry items. We had no major complaints about the room, but we did have a broken toilet paper fixture in the bathroom on the wall next to the toilet that resulted in the toilet paper falling on the floor several times. Service was super friendly, but it was difficult to reach the front desk at times without a very long wait on the phone. When I called down to request a luggage rack for the room, I was told someone would bring one up, but it never came. I had to walk to the front desk to ask for one, which was later delivered. They do have an automated attendant that lets you request a limited number of items, and I was able to request a robe for my wife that way. While we were there, the elevators were a problem for a lot of people. For part of the time we were there, some in our tower were not working, causing relatively long waits for the remaining elevators and sometimes multiple stops on the way down or up at peak use times. The hotel said they were working on it, and things did seem to improve a little by the time we checked out. The property itself is beautiful and laid out well for its limited space in this part of town. Once inside, and even outside when walking the grounds near the pool, you are in a bit of a protected oasis that doesn't make you feel like you are sandwiched between the bay and the street out front. We ate outside every day with the conference, and the area we were in was super pleasant. There are a number of restaurants on property, but since we were usually eating with the conference, we didn't have time to try any except for the Marketplace. It was very expensive for most items, but the quality was really good, and we never had much of a wait. They serve Starbucks coffee here, but you can probably save a bit of money if you get that (or mobile order) from the on-site Starbucks, which is in a different part of the building. The food served at the conference was of good quality. If you go to many conferences, you'll find it to be competitive with any of the better resorts, though, in my opinion and as one might expect, it doesn't outshine the Ritz-Carlton or certain J.W. Marriott facilities. The food service staff for the conference were excellent, helpful, and fast. The hotel is in a very convenient area downtown on the bay next to the San Diego Convention Center. Traffic in the short distance between here and the freeway can be bad depending on time of day or events happening at either the convention center, downtown, or at Petco Park, where the Padres play, but the distance is short enough for it not to be much of a headache in most cases. I doubt you'll find very many cities with access this easy from the hotel to the airport and all of the local attractions, including, in this case, the Gaslamp District, Little Italy, Coronado, the bayside attractions, Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, and more. Hotel parking is expensive, of course, so if you don't really need a car, I highly recommend using Uber or Lyft or walking to get around to the nearest things. Overall, I would certainly stay here again, and I do highly recommend this hotel if you are attending a conference or vacationing in this part of the city and can afford the price point.

One small gripe: We were locked out of our room probably because we requested late check out and tried getting in after 11am (something needs to be done to prevent this, it was annoying). The valet parking was around $70 so we found a parking lot a few blocks away. The walk wasn't bad so a good alternative. The location is close to the convention center and stadium, but if you're not coming to SD for those places, I wouldn't say this is a central location. I booked through Chase Sapphire Reserve The Edit and got the following perks: 1. Upgrade to higher floor room 2. Amenity (a box of chocolates) 3. $100 credit (used on lunch at Provisional Kitchen) 4. $60 breakfast credit (used at Provisional Kitchen) 5. Early check in (got in at 1:30pm); late check out (12:30pm) Honestly a good stay but without those perks, I'd rather book elsewhere not in downtown with options for parking.

Our first room was small and the bed was basically down to the springs. It was horrible. However, front desk quickly fixed this and moved us to a new room with a newer mattress, which also happened to be slightly bigger. The beds are soft and springy so just be aware of that if you're used to firmer beds. They also gave us firmer pillows (non down) which was great. Bell hops are friendly! Valet was quick and easy, but super pricey at $70/night. Having a coffee shop, restaurant and bar onsite was great. Depending on the location of your room, it can be loud all night! We were facing the convention center and you can hear the trains go by, which was fine. But our first night (with the bad bed) was facing a parking lot and it was like a party was right outside our window till 2am. Overall, good stay. Remodel makes it look new, though tubs show wear.

I paid an arm and a leg for the room but it was absolutely massive and I had sliding glass doors directly onto my own private patio which was right next to the pool overlooking the ocean, it was really incredible despite how outdated the room felt, somehow the size of the room made it more modern and it felt clean. The people at the front desk were young, fun, outgoing, really friendly and I appreciated that. They told me about some happy hour they were having later in the day and I felt very welcome here unlike other hotels I stayed at in the San Diego area. The bathroom was huge in my room, very weird vibe, like felt cabin-like, I don't know how else to explain it, but it was spacious, big countertop by the sink plenty of room to get ready. The coffee bar had an enormous countertop which was great for keeping all of my things, huge mirrors everywhere too. The bed was really comfortable, again great view outside, awesome staff. It was so nice to be able to walk the boardwalk and pop back in here whenever I needed to grab something or use the restroom. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend, I would definitely stay here again. But I probably won't because the cost is INSANE. Sorry but it is. Also housekeeping found my jewelry box loaded with jewelry and returned it to the front desk who subsequently shipped it back to my house for me. For a charge of course but I do appreciate the honesty of the staff that goes a long long way! Thank you!!

I was too grossed out to even touch the sand. They will not reimburse you a dime and will charge you a "resort fee" for a beach that is contaminated. The hotel is pretty with beautiful woodwork in the reception area, but the rooms are plain and basic. Do not even think about staying here unless you plan on avoiding the beach.
