This place stinks like sewage. Had to send back drinks because they tasted like the smell. Waitress was horrible. Asked for condiments but she never brought them and had to go looking for ourselves. Food was what you would expect from a chain, nothing special. Cockroaches roaming the floor. When we told our waitress she laughed and said must be the river.

Huge parrot head so a must stop! Landshark was cold and the vibe was great. The bartenders were very nice. We didn't eat but all the food coming out looked good!

    To go cup

My steak came with no salt no juice nothing just a plain stake like they put it in the microwave then they took my fries when I wasn't even done and they're to go cups were the size of a extra small McDonald's cup and they're loaded up with ice so you get no drink just ice server Venessa stole my fries.

After strolling the river walk, we stopped in for lunch. Definitely your typical tourist spot. Ambiance was 80s beach music. Out waitress was friendly and courteous. Lunch consisted of the volcano nachos, seafood platter, cheeseburger and fries, chicken salad, with a round of Dr Pepper for everyone. Nachos were.... They were large but not very filling. Seafood platter was well cooked but not well seasoned. Chicken salad was, as the name suggested, literally just diced fried chicken, and lettuce. Cheeseburger was underwhelming. Sodas were good.

This was fun! My first time going to Margaritaville and it was quite enjoyable. This chain is more known for ambience than excellent food, so keeping that in mind is essential to not be too dissapointed. My biggest critique is that the food is quite expensive for what it is, and knowing you're not in for anything special makes the price tag a little painful. Come here for the vibes and you'll have a good time!

I used to love Margaritaville but lately it seems like they are just taking their frozen dinners out of the box and heating them in a microwave and serving them this location is no different sadly. Even the gift shop had no water bottles (in Texas) and the merch was the same as everywhere else. Sad

Margaritaville is a tourist spot here on the river walk, keep in mind that. Our party was a total of 7 and we stopped by here for a refresher and a snack before walking around on a hot busy weekend. Walking in the restaurant was not busy a few tables and people at the bar. Beers were ordered and one beer came out hot while the other 10 -15 minutes after everyone got theirs the server told us they ran out of the keg and got us a new beer. ( having to wait that long and not been informed of the situation was just horrible especially half of us are visitors) we ordered the nachos which were okay. They had melted nachos cheese with a little of meat which all the toppings were on top and by the time you got to the bottom They were dry. We asked for salsa which we never got. For a tourist spot you would want to make a good impression to your guests so they want to come back not only to this establishment but make to San Antonio. Do better!

Came to the restaurant around local time 2pm, there are still descent amount customers here ( about 30) . The restaurant is on the center of the river walk, convenient to hop on those tour boat here. And I got seated right away, their menu looks tempting, and I sat down ordered the jimmy jambalaya, it took about 15 mins to be served. Definitely food tastes freshly cooked, the spicy level just right, the chicken and shrimp are really juicy . Hmmm yummmmm, love it . Also noticed that they have kids menu , family friendly restaurant for sure. One star off for the waiter took my water order wrong -- I said no ice , but I got really generous amount of it.

We stopped in for drinks which were fairly decent. The service was fast and our bartender was pretty cool. The restaurant was clean and the noise level was pretty average.

What was the best dish, appetizer, and drink?

They had great margarita's that I enjoyed. My kids shared some Nachos and enjoyed it. We had stopped for a light snack so we didn't eat much. Sitting on the patio was nice and we enjoyed watching people roam around the market.

You go way to the back and down a steep flight of stairs. My son, his wife, and I left my wife and grandbaby in the saloon and headed down. When you get down there, you are suddenly in a beautiful Tiki bar with so many amazing things to gawk at. It sort of felt like waking up in OZ. We were the first people there, so we got to sit at the bar and watch our drinks being made. They have about 15 or so different specialty tiki drinks. Each one comes in a particular piece of glassware. I don't know how the bartender keeps them straight. He was constantly pouring different things into a shaker. Then he would shake it and pour it into the glass that was already filled with crushed ice. One of the drinks even had a smoking cinnamon stick. My drink was really good. It was the Three Dots and a Dash. It came in a barrel and was decorated with a skull toothpick that had three cherries and a piece of pineapple to represent the dots and dash. It was super strong! I was ready to risk it all and go for another drink, but it had gotten packed inside the bar. We could tell the bartender was stressing. They really need two for times like that. My wife spends the night at my son's house in New Braunfels every Thursday to give them a date night. Evidently, this is where they always go. I can certainly see why!

This is not a place to have a quick drink, as the bartenders really craft the art of the cocktail you order (expect 15-20 min for 2 drinks). I would love to come back and try more!

The service was great we were seated immediately, checked on several times, and the food came out quickly. Everyone was also friendly and welcoming. We tried the egg rolls, crab rangoon dip, cornbread, Spam fried rice, and honey walnut shrimp. Every dish was a 10/10 with great flavor and something unique to offer. The crab rangoon dip and cornbread stood out the most among the appetizers. The dip was an absolute hit and is something I'd definitely recommend. The cornbread had a subtle sweetness that paired well with its flavor. I also liked how it had a waffle shape to it, very different. I was a bit skeptical about the honey walnut shrimp at first because it looked pretty simple, but it ended up being delicious. The Spam fried rice was also nice, the pineapple paired great in it. Everything felt shareable its great spot to order several dishes for the table. If you check out this place, I'd recommend going with a group. The vibe was laid back, and the decor really tied everything together, making it feel like a fun hangout spot with a lot of personality.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)
