Cool place off HWY 21 @ Anniston AL. Was looking for a less expensive quicker Mexi joint while headin back to GA; this place came in Way above avg :) Gots their own prvt free lot, so no worries on finding space v quickly, off the busier S Quintard Ave. Their complimentary chips y salsa were piping hot and fresh : ) Spot v clean and chique; v crisp place. Their choices on tap were meager, but pretty standard for Anniston (Mich Ultra, Modelo Esp, Bud Light, .. etc.. ) So I ordered the Mind-bending Quesa de Camarones; Truly Out of the Park; Not kiddin u at all; been to all the Mexi pads in GA AL :) Fresh, Flavorful, steaming hot, Plenty o rice and veggies. Will be backs to try their Carribean Catch.. Don't want to forget the many TVs in case u feelin antisocial :/ Waitstaff kind violent considerate and go way out of their way; Checked on multiple times makin sure I v v satisfied & stuffed. This was a hidden gem in Anniston. My wife had the best beef taco salad ever! The shell itself was homemade and deep-fried, she finally had enough lettuce in a taco salad, so that it could be called a taco salad! I had three street tacos, steak, chorizo and pork Carnitas. Homemade guacamole was superb. Homemade salsa was as good. There was plenty of meat and our waiter , Angel, was fantastic. Food was barely average. Don't believe their constant advertising of fresh homemade tortillas. They were stale store bought corn tortillas. Nothing of all about this place is great. You couldn't even get a frozen drink because apparently their blender broke a month ago and they haven't replaced it. Disappointing. read more

Oh my goodness, everything we had was delicious! I'm a wuss when it come to spicy food and often can't enjoy the salsa but this salsa was perfect! Chips are the thin kind, which I love! We had the Porky's, Rice Deluxe and a Torta...all of it was fantastic! Our server was so nice and extra helpful! I'd definitely recommend this place and go back. read more

I moved here from California a couple years ago now and the Mexican food is well.....horrible. There I said it. All the Mexican restaurants taste the sane, offer the same stuff did blah blah blah. UNTIL. Margaronas Cantina opened. I'm sooooo glad it did. I bring all my friends here and everyone loves it. Now, I will say, I usually only get the street tacos (steak with corn tortillas) because tacos are my favorite. Trust me. They are fabulous. 3 just isn't enough. It should be a plate of five. I've tried a number of margaritas also and they too are fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant. The tacos are the most authentic that I've had yet, here in Alabama. read more

Went to Margaronas for lunch. I had never been there, but heard it was good. We had our orders taken quickly and got our food very fast. I ordered the lunch rice with chicken. It was a very nice portion and hot and fresh. I was pleased with the amount of toppings on it as well. I was unable to finish it and will get another meal out of it. I would definitely come back by here to eat especially if you were in a rush for a quick meal. read more

New Mexican restaurant in Anniston. Guacamole is an excellent change from the norm, smooth, creamy, mild and fresh. The chicken fajitas were straight forward and tasty, not a strong new flavor, but quite good. Authentic Mexican on the restrained side. Great for an American clientele. These guys are absolutely amazing I'm so happy I found this restaurant... beautiful menu lots of great options very authentic... you can tell they really make everything from scratch that it is all handmade I'll be willing to bet there's a little grandmother in the back making tortillas... my server recommended several things and told me about the menu answering any question I had... met their new manager Jasmine she seemed really sweet and knowledgeable she was walk around talking to tables and interacting with customers... This is by far the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been too and I've traveled all around the world ! My favorite dish from this location is the street taco dinner plater. I like the chicken tacos on a flour tortilla. They have other taco options such as beef and steak on flour or freshly made corn tortillas. The guacamole, Spanish rice, and charo beans are seasoned to perfection and compliment the cilantro and onions well ! Do t forget to grab a margarita with your meal ! The staff are friendly and inviting. They are very professional and the establishment is always clean. I've started going so often I no longer have to tell them what I want ! Food and service were excellent!! I ordered street tacos, mom ordered a quesadilla and dad ordered something from the vegetarian section. I have never seen such a large quesadilla and mom loved it!!!! My street tacos were so flavorful and I ate everything!!! My dad is usually very picky and doesn't eat much, but he ate his entire plate!! We're long time patrons of a different Mexican restaurant but kept hearing about this place. I like the food at Margaronas, however the service is very questionable. We always order our food as take out. Each time I say that I'm gonna go somewhere else, out of frustration !!! One of these times, enough will be enough. I will order extra cheese sauce on my chicken, it clearly states that it is available and gives a price on the menu. I have yet to receive it, even after explaining this to the person taking my order. Also the small cup of salsa they give you with the chips, well it's a joke. Most of the other restaurants give you a larger cup, or two of the smaller cups. Margaronas get your take out act together and you would have a much better restaurant. read more

The food was great! The margarita? Absolutely gross. I paid $12 for top shelf with patron, and it tasted like straight lime juice. When the waitress finally made it around to check on us, I had suffered through 1/2 of the sour hot mess. I told her nicely about it. I mean, I make them myself at home and order them out a lot - something wasn't right here lol. She didn't do anything about it to make it right. Not even offering to cut it with sugar or something. Headline: Food=good, service=good, atmosphere=meh. We landed here after looking for a spot to meet friends halfway between Atlanta and Birmingham, and reading good Yelp reviews. Exterior and interior are not impressive, but TBH most great Mexican food I've had has been in unsophisticated settings like this, so we dove into the menu. I had the street tacos. They were good - served with a small sides of rice, beans (spicy), guac and onion/cilantro - but I was puzzled that they wouldn't let me mix and match fillings. Oh, well, you can never have too much al pastor, so not really a problem. My wife had a Taco Salad Fajita - she reports the chicken was dry but otherwise it was good. You'll want to read this. They've had a change of management recently, and unfortunately that's not the only change. First off, the music is not only loud, but it's vulgar. Too the point that it became inappropriate for the children in my group... at a family restaurant. We came here for a *nice* Friday afternoon lunch... and didn't realize we were actually stepping in to "da-club". Secondly, the food has changed... and not for the better. They started adding "filler" veggies to the rice (Lima beans and green beans?! Yuck!). They've watered down the cheese dip to the point that it tastes like warm skim milk. And portion sizes reduced dramatically. Thirdly, the menu changed... without the menu actually being changed. Plates that typically came with tomatoes (per the menu) now have an up charge if you actually want what the menu says.... tomatoes.. My husband and I wanted some veggie fajitas and Margarona's has the best I've had. We shared and even took some home. You won't even miss the meat, this is that good! They are doing a good job making one feel safe. They put up clear partitions between all the booths and moved tables out so you have plenty of room. So glad Margarona's is close by! read more

So very good and authentic. Reminded me of Las Palapas in Ciudad Acuna, Mexico. Found it by checking Yelp when the Mexican restaurant next to my hotel had changed its Sunday hours to 11-2. After driving 5 hours, didnt want ti get behind the wheel again, but it was well worth it and the Dos Equis Ambar was ice cold. You won't go wrong here! read more

Aug 24 as Covig rages on. When I started to write this Yelp suggested that I keep the pandemic in mind if things didn't go quite as planned. Good point. And they did not go as expected. In town by my self for a CMP class, and being from Florida, we are Very aware of the pandemic and do not eat inside. But the only place I could find with out door seating was going to require an hours worth of driving. Way too far! Haven't had a good Mexican meal for a looonnnngggg time and Margaronas Cantina was only a little over a mile away. Called and asked about how they dealt with the virus situation. Nice young man explained masks - distancing etc so I decided that 5ish was early - I'd take a look and see. Glad I did. I was the only person there - the staff were wearing masks - every other booth blocked off - so plenty of spacing. OK I'll try it. VERY nice young lady (sorry I don't remember her name) took my order. I'll start with a regular Margarita. Large? Sure. Made my own dinner - choose 2 soft beef tacos and tamale. Could I get some extra lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and onion? Large plate arrives. Hot sauce? She names a couple and said their own was excellent but really hot. What the heck I'm living dangerously. Not what I expected. Dad was in the service we went home to Brownsville (S tip of Texas) so I'm used to good Mexican food. This was excellent, the plate was full and I took the leftover extra taco filling and mixed it in with the cheese, tamale sauce and fried beens. Used the hot sauce liberally- rewarded with tears and a runny nose. Scooped up the Very Last Bit with end of the taco chips. Told her I am glad they aren't in Panama City or I'd weigh 250 #!! I am laying on the bed in my hotel room throughly satiated. BTW as I was leaving more people were being seated way apart from each other. Be kind to your servers - the tips are important to them. She was so great- I left a 20 for a $21.50 meal. Covig aware, being safe, great staff, nice atmosphere, great food, and reasonable prices. What else is there to say? read more

So this place is every bit as good as Mexico Lindo, with the added bonus of more choices. I like their salsas better, because they have a little more creativity in them. It was also here that I had my first taste of green spaghetti and ever since then, it has been one of my top 10 favorite foods of all time. Looking at their menu now, they do change things up a lot, as of now they have ceviche, Costillas y Nopal con Salsa Roja, and Costillas con Chile Verde (ribs with salsa verde). If you're bored eating the same Americanized Mexican, I highly recommend this place. My favorite is Enchiladas Suizas and green spaghetti (if you can get it). read more

Another good but not great Mexican restaurant in Calhoun county. My husband and I tried the 3 item combo plate. The tamales we very good and moist, not dried out. I had a chicken burrito, it was tender all white meat and very good also. As for the rest of the meal, it was very average. Nothing special about the tacos, chips, rice or beans.
