Dr Berrios is an amazing person along with his entire staff. I have the unwilling need to rescue every stray cat and this is the second time I've had an emergency consultation. One for my male cat who landed incorrectly and broke his back foot and recent I went here under an emergency after my newly spayed Kitty developed a Seroma that quickly became infected. It's important to mention my cat was NOT spayed at this location but at a cat clinic. The girl who answered immediately had me text over images to Dr Berrios and within minutes he answered. The following days after visiting and getting treatment not only did the front desk girls call me to follow up on my baby but so did Dr Berrios. He took time out of his personal life to text me and make sure everything was okay just as they had done the first time with my male cat. My cat is since then recovering well. We've been here in Boca for 10 years and have had to take our fur-babies and found ferals to various vets down here through the years and have had a hard time finding anyone consistently great, especially with feral rescues and TNR, and we found this hospital by accident when another place lost power, and everything went so well, so smoothly, so compassionately, that we were basically overwhelmed with relief. I've been going to Margate Animal Hospital in Margate, Florida for over 12 years since my dog was a puppy getting towards the end of her life she needed some surgery but could not do the surgery because of her age. The only thing the doctor said was we can give her some pain medicine so she will not be in pain. She ran out of medicine and I ordered meds from chewy.com and they rejected her meds. I called Margate Animal Hospital and asked them. Why did they reject the prescription? They said they needed to see her before they would give her the prescription for what the doctor already said they could not do anything for her but to give her pain medicine so what do they need to see her for this is a money thing this Margate Animal Hospital doesn't really care about your pet. One of the best vets I've ever been to! I will bring my 2, 2 year old cats to this location for as long as we live in Broward county:) The veterinarian, Cesar Berrios was incredibly kind and listened to my concerns and found creative solutions with incredible care. The vet techs were incredible, the one woman with shorter hair had my terrified cat purring on the table with her loving care. The front desk attendants were incredibly helpful and understanding, helped me with urgency around a rabies registration issue and took the time to explain the whole process to me. They also took one of my cats in the back while I went to grab the other out of the car, as there were a few dogs in the waiting room that were scaring her. Dr. Berrios removed several tumors from my foster dog and treated her for heart worms. I ended up adopting my foster and needed her to get a hookworm test. BE AWARE, this place will rip you off. Do not bring your pet there. Took my cat for an emergency check. Cat wouldn't stop throwing up and having diarrhea. Doctor came in and saw the cat for less than 2 mins, sent the assistant, told me that everything was around 2200 for the exams and other stuff. I left that place immediately. I was referred to Margate Animal hospital for my daughters puppy and was happy to find that they partner with the Broward Humane Society SNIP Program. I called to make an appointment for a Rabies shot and for our Lola to be spayed. The staff was friendly from the scheduling process and throughout the procedure. I had some questions about the meds prescribed after I brought Lola home and called the number on the information packet issued at pick up which was the Doctors private line. He was very patient with me and helped with options on how to feed Lola her pills with ease. He suggested adding them to a spoonful of peanut butter. It worked like a charm. We have an appointment to bring Lola back to have stitches and staples removed in about a week and a half. I had 2 surgeries programmed for 2 of my dogs and just the day before I realized another one had an ear infection. Being a french bulldog owner for a few years i have become very familiar with the cost of an ear Infection since the first one was very bad and costed almost $300. Dr. Barrios comes in look at the dog for less than 5 mins and then the office manager Mary comes back with a $462 dollar estimate. I was very very surprised not even a cancer treatment cost that much. I paid their $49 examination and left. I went straight to Coral Springs Animal Hospital through the emergency side they look at my dog, did an antibiotic wash (for free), did labs on his ear and I was out of the door with medicine to get the infection treated for $144.76. I had dealt with over price Vets before but nothing like this one. I called Margate Animal Hospital last Monday morning in a panic.  My dog Daisy had an infected uterus and she needed emergency surgery, the doggy ER had gotten her through the night with some fluids and antibiotics but I couldn't afford 5-7 thousand dollars to operate during the night.  So the morning was spent dialing and by the time I dialed them I couldn't get out the words because I was crying.  Mary answered the phone and she was just so wonderful. The next person I interacted with was Dr. Berrios, he showed genuine concern for Daisy and even gave me his cell and called to check up on us that night at 9 pm!   The surgeon who did many surgeries that day was excellent and called me with a full update once Daisy was awake.  Needless to say, Daisy is doing awesome, and I will never go to another vet!  So glad we live so close by because that kind of loving care is not easy to come by.  I can't put into words how grateful we are. read more

Great Doctor. Very helpful. I read some of the reviews, and come to notice that most customers seem very happy with the thorough service rendered by Dr.Berrios, however the few that were not so satisfied had one thing in common, and that seemed to be pricing. After doing some investigation myself I have come to determine that their prices, were well priced when compared to the other animal care facilities in a 10 mile radius. I called numerous facilities, and compared prices, and found that Margate Animal Hospital services were reasonably priced compared with others. So that being said, yes it can be a shock when you are presented with the estimate for services that your beloved four legged friend needs, but remember it's an estimate, and the Doc. puts on there the best treatment options with your pets health in mind. Of course you can discuss with the Doc. treatment options if your budget does not allow for all the services. He will walk you thru it, and point out the most important once to figure out what is ailing your Sparky. Keep in mind, they do want to see your pet healthy, and you a happy customer. Same happened to me, with my cat Sunny, after talking with the Doc. we managed to adjust the bill, and pick the most basic treatment options to get Sunny back in shape. That being said of course a blood test, or x-rays aren't going to be a few dollars. Keep in mind it took the Doctor 4 years after college, to get his degree at a hefty price tag of $150,000 in tuition, than we have equipment, staff, rent/ or mortgage, supplies etc,etc so as you can see it's not cheap to run a Vet. Clinic. I can say this much, my Cat Sunny was vomiting for 2 days, and had not touched food for three days, when I got to Margate Animal Hospital they of course gave me a huge estimate, but bear in mind that some people want the best of the best treatment options, and outcomes for their beloved pets, some of us want the same but can not afford it. So instead of kicking me to the curb, the doctor stayed beyond his opening hours, and took his time explaining me each exam, and which were the absolute musts to determine Sunnys ailment. We adjusted the estimate, and got Sunny treatment. So some may say expensive, I say not the case, and if you dont want all services, ask which ones are the most basic to ascertain the underlying cause of your pets illness. 5 Stars from me. I am very unsatisfied with my dogs bath apt today. I dropped off my dog around 8:30am and picked him up around 1pm. When I picked up my dog he did not look bathed at all. It was definitely a waste of time. I did receive the bath refund but, what was worst was Marys attitude and she left me talking to my self about my concern. I do not recommend. read more

They had put him on a very strong antibiotic and my mother only gave him half of the prescribed dosage since he started not eating or eating. She had called vet to tell them of his weird symptoms and they seemed to shrug it off as normal. he ended up passing away from this. they totally ignored her two calls i had to call myself and then when she finally even got a call back they would only give $80 of her $500 she had spent and didnt act sincere at all and was in complete denial that they killed her dog. I recently brought my kitten to Dr. Berrios when my normal vet was unable to see her for an emergency visit. I am so happy that I was able to get a same-day appointment here! The staff was friendly. Dr. Berrios was able to diagnose an extremely uncommon illness. He performed a difficult surgery on my tiny kitten and kept me and my normal vet in the loop. He gave me his cell number and sent me and my vet several updates and videos. Not only am I impressed with Dr. Berrios, my normal vet is as well! In fact, he stated that he would not have been able to perform such a surgery. My kitten would not be alive today if it wasn't for Dr. Berrios. I highly recommend him. read more

I would not trust this place. I had a stray Bengal taken there and was told he was positive for feline leukemia but they were very shady about it. One told me he was negative and later told they did not wait long enough and he was faint positive. What is faint positive? Then told me I should make a choice to have him put down to avoid health issues and infections to other cats. The cat is very healthy. Took him home and made an appointment at another place to have blood sent to lab for testing and the result was negative. Either this place was trying to take advantage of me or the test they performed is not accurate. Be careful and get a second opinion for anything at this place! I was told it is rare that the in office tests to be inaccurate. I suppose it is possible but get another test at another place! read more
