Shyana was extremely rude and inept in administering an IQ test. We were never told that an IQ test would be performed. My daughter has a 140 IQ, and she was tested by a real doctor! Shyana proceeded to give verbal feedback after each question, and told my daughter she was incorrect about the capital of Italy being Rome. She also told her that Dr. Martin Luther King was not a philanthropist! A philanthropist is the very first thing you will read about MLK! This employee was aggressive and completely incompetent. My daughter asked for a place to set her purse, with a cleared table beside her, Shyana told her to put her purse on the floor. Prior to this appointment, Danny told my daughter that they would make a cup of coffee for her after the "brain mapping" was performed. In return, Shyana was aggravated with her that she had no brought her own coffee to the appointment. On January 9th, the office manager (Danny) promised not to bill my daughter's insurance, and to refund the $65.00 copay. Instead, this office did a "cut and run" DOUBLE billing Blue Cross Blue Shield, and they kept my copay!! Dr. Crum never returned my call to discuss this matter. It is quite apparent that Dr. Crum is shirking her responsibility in favor of unskilled, uneducated employees who have no clue what they are doing. How these vicious, cruel people sleep at night knowing that they are ripping people off is beyond comprehension. Shameful!

This was our first visit to see the Dr. He wrote refills for all his medications except the anxiety medication. When I questioned this, He said: I'm taking him off of it. It was a high dose, but he didn't tell us about this. I said doesn't that have to be tapered ? Very hurriedly He wrote down a quick three day taper. Medication at this high of a dose would take a long time to taper off from. According to other psychiatrists. Then he made a cutting of the neck gesture and said then you will be off of them. I was in shock and couldnt believe the insensitivity he showed me within the first minute being in the room with him. These types of appointments are already tough enough for most, so an insensitive, pompous, rude, unprofessional psychiatrist is not what will help a patient in need. He literally should work as a pain management doctor and just write unwarranted prescriptions all day without asking questions because he has no interest in truly helping the patient and trying to land an accurate diagnoses. Honestly I went to him because his reviews on google but now I am truly convinced these reviews are fake because the experience was that bad. She complains about the food and the fact that some of the same age girls got to go home before she did, but overall we have been very happy with the counseling she has received and the family therapy we have had. The biggest disappointment is due to COVID, what normally could have been in person therapy sessions are still on Zoom and the no longer allow kids to go off campus for field trips, which I understand did happen before COVID.

They have 3 homes, so the registered nurse goes to all 3 as needed throughout the day and is always available through text or phone call to address any concerns until she is able to promptly see us. While all the counselors I feel are suited professionally and experienced in all drugs and alcohol, my experience is that instead of focusing on the drug or alcohol, which is discussed and addressed, it is focused on healing the person, inside and out, with a holistic approach. They take moving forward, living and enjoying life happy SERIOUSLY... absolutely! All their qualifications as a center are appropriately displayed on the wall as well. I have been to probably over 20 recovery centers in the past 20 years and this facility absolutely stands alone not just in it's class but the things thought and learned here are definitely personal as well as different from any other. For those who may have a dislike or love for 12 step programs this program is for you. This year I had lost hope in recovery centers and rehabs. The 12 step programs I felt were no longer enough though I felt I was really doing everything in my power to work the 12 step program. At Tikvah, they don't have you work "the program", they meet with you to develop "your personal program." Others may say that, but they truly do it. There are always 6 people or less at 2 of their houses, so the 1 and 1 care is truly unmatched. I won't call the therapies or groups "outside the box" for thinking I may scare you, but they help put a new perspective on all aspects of recovery, whether you are new to it or an "old timer", or "chronic relapser." Here we are all equal, deserving individuals who get truly personalized, individual care daily it the most comfortable setting possible so that we may move forward in life and develop our own solutions, plans and program to live the best life possible.
